I am the one who started watching Breaking Bad on account of Better call Saul, I knew nothing about BB so Odenkirk is dead wrong about BCS. I loved it from the episode one, and my favourite character in BB is Saul.
I didn't know that's what Fred Armisen sounded like when he wasn't acting! These are two great dudes, dry humor that meshes together well - I loved when one would start riffing on something in a deadpan voice and the other would join in.
Usually too scared to admit I watched about and hour of lord of the rings and was confused and switched off! Love BCS watching it again. Bob puts himself down too much but is what makes him so funny an cute!
I watched about and hour of lord of the rings and was confused and switched off! hey you should start with the Hobbit before LotR. the Hobbit is a prequel that helps introduce you to the world a little easier. Theres a lot going on in LotR and it can be very difficult to follow if you don't know anything about the story. . . . [more] . . . All of the movies have 2 versions, the theatrical version of the movies are about 30-40minutes shorter than the extended versions. Most people recommend starting with the shorter versions, but you will be missing out on a lot of important information if you are not watching the extended editions. You should read about the story to help you understand things (without spoilers) it helps to understand all the races and why the ring is so important to them (istead of just guessing) to follow the story easier. Makes me sad Bob makes fun of such and amazing story when he clearly didn't give it a chance. If you watch all 3 hobbit movies and all 3 lotr movies in a row its about 20 hours, much shorter than BCS/BB. you can easily watch half a movie a night for 2 weeks and just give it a chance and enjoy it. Don't try to nitpick the details just accept it for what it is and let yourself sink in for the ride
Really good advice I gathered from this on the comedic process, things that I can entirely agree with. Sketch comedy is not a classical art but a folk art, and a second opinion matters. And that is what makes it exciting.

wait a minute, what does this mean, Bob: "How many UA-cams are there now?", Fred [seems to get a genuine answer from afar] "201". huh? Am I showing my age (42) here? Is there not ONE UA-cam? yes obviously it's got millions (if not billions) of videos on it, but how are there 201 youtubes??
I loved BB and thought it it had a Great Cast and Great Writing. I did not watch it when it first showed on TV for the first time because I was working at that time and I was doing many double shifts. So I purchased the DVR Set and I binged watched all the seasons and IMO, along with the Sopranos, These were the two best TV Shows of all time! Saul Goodman was one of my favorite characters on BB and I was overly excited when I first began watching BCS. I thought it was Fantastic up until the writers implemented this Lalo character into the story line! For me, this was the end of my enjoyment of this story and I thought it went, for me, downhill and I was just totally annoyed with the story, until the end. SORRY, but what started out to be a Blockbuster, turned out to be a BUST!
I would have to disagree with Odenkirk on his SNL praise ........the liberals have turned SNL into a political beat down .....just like all the late night talk shows. Yes, we get it .......you don't like Trump ....move on ....another 4 years coming.
So annoying when people get triggered by SNL mocking Trump. SNL has been making fun of politicians since the show started. Mocking presidents has always been the majority of their cold openings. I'm not saying they're funny but its not like they just recently started doing political comedy.

It was a sycophantic play and applause with no actual humor. Lots of independent creators did FAR better job of making fun of Trump that was actually funny (Shane Gillis, ironically fired from SNL). But that lack of good writing plagues everything SNL has done for years, as well as late night. Their political correct culture (Hollywood) has neutered them comedically. It has nothing to do with being "triggered". The other thing, as the wise Norm MacDonald has said, is you have to like/admire someone to parody them and have it be funny. Otherwise it's just mean spirited, just shitting on someone. Your disdain clouds your comedic sensibilities.
