Cheers for this, I’ll hopefully remember this video if I have issues, mine is still in the delivery box as the misses needs something to give me for Xmas… It’s so far away 😂
The issue I have with The Spectrum is that it outputs at 16:19 with the pixel perfect video output in the centre with borders. Great for 16:19, but on a 4:3 CRT display, the image is squashed horizontally. It would be great if there was a stretch-to-full screen option, as this would then look perfect on the CRT.
@@FanaticsArea I guess they've probably anticipated that most people will be playing this on modern TVs and not CRTs. I agree though an option would be awesome. Not sure if it's something they could patch in?
thanks for letting me know I just got this today for cristmas and I thought it was DOA thanks for lwtting me know but the down side is i now need to get a usb stick tomorrow
I just had a great idea...you could do a video of zx spectrum demakes! Im not sure how many of them are any good but i do remember seeing demakes of Doom and Street Fighter 2. There has to be loads out there and a few have to be good, surely.
The original Spectrum never supported Floppy Disk Drives until the 128k +3. "The Spectrum" is a software clone, not a hardware clone. There is a lot missing. The original Spectrum had an expansion port so that 3rd party companies could invent all sort of peripheral hardware for it, including floppy disk drives. Not quite sure what you would do with a floppy drive in this world of USB memory sticks that will easily hold the 10,000+ games that the Specturm supported?
Hi. When I download the image file it doesn't unzip with .img at the end of it, so when I try and flash it it doesn't let me do anything. Is anyone else having this issue? TIA
@@YouveBeenGamed I did thank you. I had to download another tool to flash the drive and it worked straight away. The link on retro games didn't work at all. Just playing about adding some games now.
Can you look at an issue for me and others please 🙏 Great machine and over the moon. Created usb drive using etcher as described (familiar with this). Basic programs. Some save, some don’t. Don’t know why. File names are generic and within 8 chars. Seems random but maybe me. Help!!!😮
Have you updated the ROM as there is a saving bug in the first update version 1.1 or 1.01 I think it is so you have to wait for the new update, they’ve taken the buggy update down off the site so if there is one up now that means they fixed it, I haven't had a chance to check yet.
Ive set my 32g usb stick up with the correct 16gb flash and software from the retrogames offical site as advised. I've dragged all my games rom files over in Alphabetical order files, but found some of the roms towards the end of the file (proberly about half) aren't showing up on The Spectrum to select. Example the S Roms folder contains 38.3 MB (40,186,336 bytes) file size with 867 Files, 0 Folders I`ve checked the usb stick in the pc and the files are definitely there Does anyone have an idear why? thanks
@@papalazarou6674 you can only have a maximum of 256 roms in each folder. You have to break them down into separate folders if there is more. Hope it helps

@@papalazarou6674 The issue is that TheSpectrum only read FAT32 file systems and our USB sticks are all much too big :) No need to fiddle with that USB image tho, just launch Disk Management in Windows and format your stick in FAT32 from there (you will have to set the size to under 32GB otherwise FAT32 will not be available).
Yes, me too. My logitech attack 3 doesnt fires button work, only the movements work. I dont like gamepads, feels like keyboards at all. Mine was supposed to be delivered last Friday, delayed but got it on Monday. Incidentally, the ROMS should be loaded into a folder called THESPECTRUM/roms and they'll automatically be set as the system roms (GNG and Atic Atac in TZX are working fine). Strangely, I think it cannot be closed. At least I have not succeeded. They have done that so when the game is suspended, you can save the game.
