If the paper is preserved well, the prints should be permanent when using ninhydrin with cyanoacrylate fuming. You could also photograph the processed prints or scan it with a flatbed scanner.
My students and I are trying to do this in my forensics class, but we are not getting anything other than purple blobs. Any suggestions? We are using a 5% ninydrin solution.
