You are clearly one of those people who has multiple skills and talents. You were raised well, too. I'm glad you are settling in Australia. We need good people like you. :)
Feel you big time, I'm an immigrant myself (from english speaking background), the culture shock is quite something. The university experience lacklustre, you gotta just try and carve out your own friendship group and remain true to yourself :) all the best mate!

That is very true, need to focus on other activities and keep a clear mind on your goals. Thank you for that insight! :)
Thanks for sharing your journey so far. Very inspirational. You are obviously multi-talented and intelligent. Australia is lucky to have you. I live in Sydney but I call Brisbane home. IMO opinion, both cities are great, but I enjoy Brissy's more relaxed vibe and proximity to beautiful islands. Portugal is definitely on my bucket list to visit soon.🇦🇺

Thank you for that, really appreciate it! After 1 year in Sydney, I do miss Brisbane’s relaxed atmosphere, but need to go where I get payed the most while I can! Portugal is a great “cheap” destination in Europe, 10/10 would recommend (not biased at all 😬)
This is so inspirational man. Most people never attempt, let alone accomplish, that level of a achievement. Glad you ended up in the best Aussie city! 😊

Thanks man! I’m also happy to have ended up in Brisbane after Sydney, feels kinda cathartic :)
This is so interesting. You provided a very valuable and balanced critique of your experience, and your later assertion that leaving your country for another is a sign of courage - 100% Thank you for being part of our community.

I was honestly not expecting so many positive feedback! Thanks a lot!
Mate if you don't follow your dream when given the opportunity you live the rest of your life wondering 'what if'. I wish you all the best wherever your life leads to.
Hi I'm an imigrant thinking about getting a postgraduate degree in australia and your video was pretty good to have some insights :) Great video and story!
Hey I think I bought a custard from you. What a great story. I’d like to hear more if how it goes for you.
Рік тому+2
Hahaha that is likely since I worked in Rocklea, Powerhouse, Mitchelton, Milton and City market on weekends between 2018 and 2021, also a few events like Finders Keepers! Hope you enjoyed that particular custard 😆
Because Portugal is only great for visiting, for young people getting out of College it sucks, the wages are extremely low, and everything is so expensive. This is why most people can't leave their parent's houses until they are in their 30s
Considering how desperately Australia needs Workers, we really need to broaden and streamline our Visa groups and the processes of obtaining them. Hope you stay, and bring your friends and family!

Thank you for that! I feel the government could be broader-minded when it comes to emigration, but for an European like me it hasn’t been too hard. Even if my family doesn’t want to come, I’ll start a new family here 😁
I LOVE Portuguese Custard Tarts and Spiced Chicken. Is El Porto chicken any thing like the real thing?

Lisboa Caffe in Brisbane makes the absolute best ones! I am very biased when it comes to Portuguese food run by non-Portuguese people… so I would say no, it’s not like the real thing 😅
My Granddaughter is a Research Scientist in Melbourne. This year she graduates with her Masters and her Doctorate. She teaches 3rd year Biology and Chemistry at her Uni. They hired her two years ago. She also has two extra degrees in Biology and German. She was published in December but Australia will not finance her research. America and Canada have been waiting for three years to take her. This year Germany asked and that is where she will go. She loves Germany. You should stay. Just remember we all came from somewhere else. Except our first people.

I’m sorry to hear your granddaughter couldn’t get funding in Australia. But Germany is a great country, so she will be alright :) all the best!

Nice video but what I want to know is how much you're earning compared to people without the same qualifications and working beside you are earning. I've worked for the ATO and I was working with people who were recognised CPAs on the same money as me and they did not have any greater chance of promotion compared to me....as promotion is always decided on merit....not what letters you might be able to put after your name. I met some people at Executive level 2 in the ATO who started straight out of year 10...16/17 year olds with no formal education beyond that. Just an aptitude for the role.

Thanks for sharing your experience. From what I gathered, despite not having as much experience in banking, I am earning equal or higher to my peers of the same level. They had into account my qualifications (2 Masters degrees). Not sure if this logic is the same for all companies/banks in Australia.
For a fresh graduate, annual salaries usually start at around 60-90k, depending on your field. For people with more qualifications or experience, you can start earning way more, like 100-150k, really depends on your field and luck. Hope this helps :)
People seem to forget the role of a Uni degree is to help you get your _first_ job, after that it has almost no relevance, except in a few industries where it would be dangerous for a person to not have that degree (e.g. doctor / engineer), unfortunately the Uni's (globally, not just Australia) in most cases don't teach the skills required to actually do useful work (that's been my experience anyway), so a person with 5 years on the job experience and no degree is valued much higher than someone with a degree and no experience. Until the Uni's fix their curriculum, this will continue being the case.
Brilliant! I'm a proud Australian but not blindly patriotic. Your honest sympathetic recounting of your journey touched me.
Thanks for that, really appreciate it!
You're a good lad. I hope you decide to stay. Australia needs intelligent, empathy filled and responsible people like you.
Thank you for that mate! Definitely staying, Australia has stolen my heart 😁
@ You're most welcome. If you stay, perhaps you can pay Australia in kind by sharing your football skill secrets - we need to go up a notch. :)
@
🇦🇺has a habit of doing that ❤
"More" of these people!
Damn straight. Welcome and hope he stays!
You are clearly one of those people who has multiple skills and talents. You were raised well, too. I'm glad you are settling in Australia. We need good people like you. :)

The daily cost of living is very high in Australia…
While studying in an Australian university, I felt isolated and lost.
I’m sorry you had that experience too… hope you’re doing better now! :)
Not being blindly patriotic is kinda .. the exact definition of Australian .. it should be said ..

Pepe, do you like Guitarra by Madredeus ? :) ua-cam.com/video/rgXpXBRtRSk/v-deo.html
I like everything by Madredeus! They are one of the best Portuguese bands of all time 😎
