@@thoward3523 it’s actually like that in every community I’ve been a part of! Boy dolls just don’t sell as well. That’s why I like to go extra on them … yeah that’s my excuse 🤪
What a lovely collection! Creating a boy doll was actually what got me back into collecting AG as an adult! I couldn't believe that after all those years AG still hadn't made a boy doll. So I watched UA-cam tutorial videos, bought a used TM doll and a wig, and made my first boy doll. He's no longer in my collection, but I currently have a custom Josefina mold boy. I also have a custom Joss mold doll that switches genders and sometimes wears a "boy" wig because Joss makes such a cute boy! I don't remember you talking about this in a video so I'll mention it (apologies if you already were aware of this), but while there are some people that wish AG never made boy dolls, most people were upset with the whole Logan thing because AG used Kaya's face mold for a boy, perpetuating the awful stereotype that Native American women have masculine looking features. They most likely did it because they were planning to differentiate the boy dolls by giving them closed mouths, but it was still thoughtless and insensitive. Kaya is my favorite doll/face mold and I did eventually purchase Logan, but I was very conflicted and just found that I didn't love him. I was also angry at AG for adding Kaya's mold to the CYO generator as the boy version (thicker Logan brows), not the standard feathered brows like the other molds (in fact when it first launched, you could only pair the Kaya mold with the new short "boy" wigs). I don't like that her mold has become the default boy doll for CYOs. Having said that, I do think your Kaya CYO boys are especially cute though!
My first CYO boy doll was a Lindsey that I bought used to make a boy (only $40). I cut her hair to make Taylor. Some people in the doll groups were giving me some flack because, they said, Lindsey was their favorite. How could I cut her hair ? So I bought a second used Lindsey (also only $40) and now have my twins, Lindsey and Taylor Taylor. This was before AG made the Nicki and Isabel Hoffman twins. I acquired two Kayas ($30 & $35) and pulled the wig on the one that had really dry hair. I added a black boy wig. Still unnamed but another custom boy. Monique Trading Post (out of business) had boy wigs in several colors (even white and gray) and I stocked up with several boy wigs. They also had the boy doll shoes in black and brown and I bought several pair during the final sale. I currently have bought or customized and planned (have the wigs) for at least 17 - 18 boys. I'm obsessed with collecting and creating boy dolls. Some are from girl dolls so not all have a closed mouth smile but I have all 7 of the AG boys and two TM #75.

Another good video. Sterling looks like he should be Amish. Blaine and Tommy are my favorites. Back in the 80’s it used to have legal to smoke in bars and nightclubs. Pedro is so cute! I never thought of doing a Kaya custom but I love it. Tommy is cute too! He makes me wish the TM range was more diverse. With the smell, it will fade. Luckily the fact that he's AG helps a lot. Cigarette smoke washes out of fabric, which is great for the body and stuffing. Hollow limbs mean less material for the smoke to seep into as well. Plus the fact that you removed the old hair and eyes should also help a bit. You can try to rush the smell out, but it's still gonna take time. Yes, Pop of Plaid. Close enough. That you mentioned that the pants were soft, I hadn't compared them to other AG or Maplelea boy pants but, they are very soft. That is the outfit that I bought 3 of because of those black pants, black shoes, and mostly because I needed the white shirts to make other Christmas outfits by changing the tie and vest. Plus because they were on sale after Christmas they were only $20 apiece. Excellent price for pants, shoes (better quality AG boy dress shoes) and white dress shirts. First set I only paid $34 because it was with a bonus discount. I only have one TM #77 and don't see him for resale in my area, black dolls aren't as popular, it seems, in Northern New England. Never seen one, girl or boy doll for sale locally. Yours does have a different wig. Doesn't seem as tight as my #77. Makes him look totally different. I'll try to buy another. Maybe AG will "find" some other ones like they did last Christmas with TM #75. He's listed as being "retired" in 2024. Same as TM #75. I just recently got a used Logan in perfect condition for $50 (lowered after 4 days of being listed for $75 so I saved $25 waiting awhile - people are moving soon) and last week received a perfect condition TM #76 (removed the three white spots on his face easily) for $100 (S&H $25) so that completed my AG boys. I was obsessed with finding all 7 AG boy dolls for a reasonable price (if used) and just got lucky over the past two weeks. I also make customs so have about the same amount of boys as you do. Two red-heads, BTW, still needing a face-up (freckles for one, darker, stronger eyebrows). It's fun making your own customs and cheaper than buying AG custom dolls.
P.S. Now that I've watched the complete video all of my custom boys are girl molds (teeth showing). The boys aren't for sale around my area often unless they are listed for over $125 and the two Logans that were listed for $50 sold as soon as they were posted so I missed getting him twice before. I have two TM #75 that I bought from AG last Christmas and was going to customize one with a different wig but think I'll keep them as twins: Randy and Andy. Maybe make them my Canadians because of the Maplelea Ice Hockey team (4 CAD, 4 USA). I have so many Maplelea outfits that I need to call at least some Canadians. What's a common French (Canadian) last name for them ?
@@djg5950 I like the French Canadian last name Gagnon or Gagnier. It means a farmer (or peasant 👀) but it sounds like gagner, which means to win. Fitting for an athlete lol. It’s pronounced gine-yon (yon is like yo but nasal at the end)

MY 77 is Melody's brother Dwayne and I made him a vest out of the same fabric as Melody's Xmas dress
@@gingerdean1521 well that makes the most sense. Now that you say that, that’s the reason 77 is in the promo pics for the recording studio isn’t it? He’s supposed to be her brother 🤯
AG needs more boy clothing sets!!! 💯
@@happyjollyholly4455 it’s criminal the way they’ve been neglecting the boy line. I wonder if they’re phasing it out…
The boy dolls are really cute! I like them a lot more than I thought I would. I don’t know that I would buy one for full price, but I really do like 77.
He is still on AG website. Look for him in the after Xmas sale. AG dolls are made in China. If Trump does the 25% tariff on China the prices will go up
@@settheworldonfire94 haha well obviously 77 is one I would recommend-but truthfully I got 2 of them on clearance. Otherwise I would only have 1… I think!
@@djg5950 oops yes you reminded me the name last time too - and let me know it came out last year, not the year before 🤣
@@djg5950 I like the French Canadian last name Gagnon or Gagnier. It means a farmer (or peasant 👀) but it sounds like gagner, which means to win. Fitting for an athlete lol.
It’s pronounced gine-yon (yon is like yo but nasal at the end)
@@DisBlaine I worked with people with the last name of Gagnon. I might have pronounced it the American English way, LOL ! That's a good name. Pronounced the way it's spelled. Gag - non.
Thanks Blaine. Since a previous video I have had a few arrive or bought here on UK shores and even a Maplelea who had an interesting journey plus the OG guys .Considering I had no AG a few months ago. :-)
@@dazb9013 a Maplelea doll! Which one did you get? I wonder how expensive the shipping is to UK from Canada. When I ship there, it’s unbelievable!
You have a great collection of boys. I have yet to add an AG boy to my doll family. I plan to create two custom boys using the Kaya and TM# 91. I have a number of Our Generation (OG) boys and recently added two Maplelea boys. My fav is #1 and #2 of your boys.
@@nettiezdolls6742 custom boys are really a lot of fun! I think it may be because they’ve released so few. I wonder how your 91 would look!
Out of OG, it’s only been a couple boys that have tempted me-but I decided to limit myself (that sounds like a joke, but I mean brand wise 🤪)
@@DisBlaineI get that. Other collectors try to tempt me with Gotz dolls and I’m like “nooooo.” I don’t even what to look! 😂
Sodium Bicarbonate ie "baking soda". Put the doll in a container or large plastic bag, cover liberally with baking soda, seal and let the doll sit for a few days to a week. One to two "treatments" should remove the odor completely.
@@kevincook8888 thanks Kevin! It seems so obvious now that it’s pointed out (that’s the very reason I open a box in my fridge!) so I’ll definitely give it a try.
Hi Blaine, I haven’t watched this video yet, I have a question for you first. I have a chance to get Joss’s surf bus, like new with accessories for $600. I see it on EBay for $1000. And up, so it seems like a good deal to me. Does it to you? Thank you.
@@crystalbluepersuasion3897 it retailed for $650 USD, so that sounds like a great deal, especially if it’s complete!!! I got mine for half the retail price BUT! It was missing a few accessories, ones I don’t care to chase.
Honestly, it really is as magnificent as people say. It’s fun to play with OR a spectacular display piece. I hope you’re not too late because I took too long to reply!
@@DisBlaineThank you so much! I have an appointment today to pick it up, so you answered in time. 😊
Love your Gotz little sister doll as a boy❤
@@PatriciaDesmet-d5g isn’t he SO CUTE??? I wish I could show him in every video 😆
Hi I leave in usa 🇺🇸 where can I buy chlothes for my boy dolls american girl store don't have 😢
@@marylopezoficial1260 hmmm Maplelea makes some boy blotches that look nice on AG. They ship to US and it’s free for over $150 purchases
Put a cup of coffee grounds and a cup of baking soda right next to the doll for a while. That will work better whereas the dryer sheet will just add more chemical and fragrance.
Baking soda and coffee absorb smells and coffee just smells much better than anything else a doll can smell like.
@@kerrysmiles baking soda!! That’s such a good idea. Coffee otoh will smell as bad as cigarettes to me 🤣
I have such an aversion I can’t even eat tiramisu lolllllll
@@kerrysmiles ohhhh you like the smell of coffee.
I don't love the Kaya mold for AG first boy doll, and I also don't like closed mouth only for boys!! If we will have both open and closed mouth dolls, it should be like the Bitty Twins where some gender swapped with the mouths. The unintentional implication made with using the Kaya mold for Logan just doesn't land well for me. 😢 He's super cute, but I think now that we have different boy doll options, he probably won't join my collection. (Personal opinions for my collection, not commentary on all your cute boy dolls in your collection!)
@@happyjollyholly4455 oh yes I definitely understand why many collectors feel the same way you do about the Kaya mold. By the time I learned about the history, it was too late, and I loved Logan - but I do love the mold being exclusive to Kaya girl wise. It’s funny how we all organize things in our minds!
Where is your doll with the tall blonde curly wig who was in a basketball outfit? AND I live in Amish country in southwest NYS and your Number 1 looks very Amish
@@gingerdean1521 that doll is Blaine, in the pjs at the end. He’s dressed for Christmas, so he may not be recognizable. Someone else said my top pick looks Amish too! No one said that before but 2 did he n this video 🤯
Try Fabreeze on Tommy!
@@Naru7ka I think the perfumey smell of out faded was febreze-but once the odor fades, the might put some more on him 🤣
U should make a boy claudie doll and also baby /little tiana made with tiana head and a bitty baby body
@@danielleedgefield8176 I’m tempted to make a Claudie with the 77 wig, but not sure if she’d be a boy or girl with short hair. I’m afraid to open the bitty baby rabbit hole!
