  • Tricia and her family set out to build a homestead after discovering the taste difference between grain fed and grass fed beef. But it turned into so much more than ever imagined. They have since pivoted and grown the farm into a large enterprise and yet again are pivoting to downsize and make sure they escape burnout and overwhelm.

Another very interesting video. Someday, with support, it would be great to see lots and lots of these smaller producers feeding more of the world!! Love what you all are doing by showcasing so many hardworking farmers on their own land. Hooray❣️

This is the difference between local farms who fail and local farms who succeed. This farm success is because she problem solves and seeks knowledge to be successful. If all small farms subscribes to this channel, you too will be successful. 😎💯🙌

It's true. I raise chickens for eggs and meat. Non-GMO, corn and soy free, organic, fermented feed, free range, etc. When I see signs on the roadside "Eggs $2.50 or $3 / dozen" I think "low quality, cheap feed, no thanks."

Hi!! Thank you so very much!! I’m so glad you are enjoying our farm tours! We share more behind the scene stuff on our Instagram, if you’re interested in seeing some extra things. But it’s not a lot, when we aren’t on a farm tour we are just wrangling the children haha

Could you provide a link to the Whole Farm Planning class she attended? Thank you!

Hi, It's Farmer Tricia from Creekside, the Whole Farm Planning was a large program that was done across 5 (or 6 ) states in the Northeast that was with Holistic Management International. The program as I took it and mentored for is no longer offered, it was originally funded federally for beginning farmers and ranchers funds targeting beginning women farmers and that funding wasn't continued after 5 or so years. (at least that's how I recall it) But you can check with Holistic Management International and see what classes they have on offer online or in person your area. I know they don't do much in the northeast anymore but the inperson events are mostly out west but they do offer online classes plus have scholarships to make it easier. Also Cornell Small Farms has some HMI centered classes that are often taught by a NYS HMI instructor ( I know them from my training and keep in touch, I never completed my training to be an instructor or I would be doing it! ). BF 101, 102, 103 and 110 are ones that use HM (holistic management) the most, and based off of that original training I took. I hope this helps you some. I'm happy to answer any other questions and you can find my contact stuff on our website.
