I’m new to 40k just started the hobby about a month ago, I saw a box of custodes wardens at my local store bought those first, then trajann, 10 guardians, 6 alluras with a shield captain, a shield captain and a grav tank . That’s all I got so far! Love 40k! Love the golden boys!
Very helpful, Im starting WK40k with Custodes, I've bought a combat patrol box, a boarding patrol box, x2 wardens boxes and a blade champion. Im assembling minis right now ( magnetizing all guards), I've no assembled the knight centura (x10 prosecutors instead) i think your're right (because i'll use x8 in most cases) but meh they're already glued and its ok anyway!. Thanks for the videos, the emperor protects🦅
Hey bud, found this video super helpful! Getting back into Warhammer in my 30s and I haven't collected it since Tyranids when I was a teen in the 00s. I ended up going with Custodes and Stormcast Eternals. Over the summer I managed to get my hands on both the Combat Patrol and Boarding Patrol (literally the last one!). Also got a box of Wardens and a Blade Champion. Also got some Sagittarum Guard 3D printed. Still getting through the building and painting of course. Gonna get the Combat Patrol up and running first. I'm building the models as advised by the CP rules so I'm making some of the guards carrying blades and some carrying spears Found your advice on building very helpful, I was kind of procrastinating building certain pieces but it's good to know I don't have to have my captains without helmets (dread painting faces!) and most tournament nerds won't throw a hissy fit as long as theres some sort of subtle difference. Was scratching my head over Shield Captains having a Shield in the gear but the pic shows them with a misercordia. You earned my subscription and I'll join your Discord. Btw, tell me what you meant by look to the East?? Is there a website I can check out?
Custodes are definitely a great starter army for 40k, but they do rely on their Forge World range to do any serious damage once you get into the competitive level of play.
That's just not true. You can deal plenty of damage with Guards, Allarus and Wardens. If you are referring to the Caladius Tank you can substitute it with a Land Raider. Yes its not quite as good, but it can fill the role to some degree. In fact the only two units that are being used from Forge World at the moment is the Caladius Tank and Venatari.
Would you say this info is still up to date, especially regarding 2nd CP box? I'm looking to get started in 40K having only ever played AoS in past and I love the golden boys, but was thinking if maybe the terminators be better (forgot there name sorry) along with maybe couple other boxes
Thank you very much for the video. Regarding buying the 2nd combat patrol box. Should I still build the shield captain or no need since I already built it in the 1st box that I bought? Thank you.
Custodes are In fact the cheapest army to get. Imperial knights are like 5th cheapest or maybe even worse. Imperial Knights may have less models, but those model kits per points cost a lot of money.
maybe im doing something wrong because i just had to spend about 450 on a 2.5k army. And thats after haggling with pre-owned sellers! The lot wouldve been 655 at retail price. Blade champ, Trajan, Valarian, 6x allarus, 6x Venatari, 15x wardens, 10x witchseekers, 2x caladius.
Imperial knights aren’t really that cheap. Grey knights and Custodes are the cheapest but grey knights combat patrol is better than Custodes. 3 GK combat patrols can get you 1915-1960 and it is actually a viable competitive army. 3 librarians, 15 power armor units, 15 terminators and 3 nemesis dreadknights. Upgrade 1 dreadknight to a grandmaster, 1 squad of strike marines and 2 more strike units or 10 man purifier squad, 15 terminators that can be upgraded to paladins then throw in 30 points for sigil of exigence, 15 for inescapable wrath, and possibly 20 for domina liber demonica or 35 for first to the fray and bam. A decent GK competitive list. I’ve played only GK since the end of 9th edition. Moving in custodes. Looking at 3 5 man guard squads, 3 5 man wardens, Trajan and 2 blade champions, a unit of sisters.

I looked to the east...and I promise you guys, it was more than worth it.

Love there being a custodes content creator!
Thanks for this. I'm thinking on starting 40k and thinking on starting with Custodes. This helps a lot with it!

Waiting for your thoughts on the Codex and new boxes

So the list you put up at the end what does the list actually look like?

Totally your choice. You can always use the shield captain as a regular dude
