That burnt orange e-gravel bike. It might be super expensive now but the high end tends to eventually pull the low end up and that high techer has a really interesting feature set,
Can we a call out to the video / editing team at GCN?! These new videos have been incredible and they deserve so much love and appreciation! Thank you GCN team!
It's totally unnecessary to try to connect EVERYTHING to a mobile phone and have an app for every single action we make. Some examples are getting ridiculous, really
True but it is also easier and less expensive for the manufacturer to develop an app rather than include a dashboard display capable of the same level of computing as a smart phone. Analog switches and buttons, in contrast, are the MOST expensive option at any kind of scale. It really is one of those decisions that are marketed as futuristic advances when they are primarily cost cutting measures. (this is also true of Tesla dashboards - at scale they are significantly cheaper to manufacture) Execution is the important part, requiring a personal phone to be exposed to the elements is bad so I hope that isn't part of the system they developed.
Completely agreed. I dont want to have the smartphone all day out in front of my face for everything I do. Sometimes it comes handy but things shouldnt be developed especially for phone usage. Its so much better to ride a bike with a computer with buttons for example. Even on other things that not cycling I allways have dedicated "gadgets" for the job, and usually they are a lot better than the phone is, besides it gives more pleasure do things with something made specially for a certain task than pulling the phone for everything.
I have mixed feelings on children’s ebikes, as a lot of kids are already overweight now a days and taking away a big part of the fitness and calorie burn kind of defeats one of the big benefits of bike riding for them.
Taking away? I thought that cycling on a lower intense should burn more fat than pushing yourself to the limit's? Fast walking burns more fat than running as well, so I think if you talk about fat burning an e-bike might be the solution? Still cycling, still faster than normal on a lower effort
Please get the electric moped for your camera operator! In so many videos the combustion engine of the moped can often be heard on the talk-while-riding shots.
Belt drive chains and internal gears are something I am interested in. I think it would be interesting to see how stuff like that can work. I think E bikes have done something good to facilitate new tech because weight is less of a concern. Hopefully it can trickle through to push bikes too.
Those e-scooter things need to have a license requirement or something. People around where I live ride them like they're actually completely brainless.
A lot of 1500 watt kits out there. Even the pedal actuated throttles activate at their set level regardless of rider power. They only need to move the pedals.
The first thing I thought of when I saw that Storck e-gravel bike was, That is what Cannondale did back in the early 90's with their 3.0 series criterium frames. I guess if you wait long enough what is old becomes new again!
Speaking of gravel. All these GCN sister channels, but no GGCN? I’m sure you could find a couple Gravel hardcores in America to present Gravel videos. You already have one of the best cross riders in JPow . I think it would work…..
When I first saw the orange coloured e-gravel bike. I thought it was a Cannondale with those chain and seat stays. I was surprised it's a Storck and not a Cannondale. As Cannondale used that style of stays i=on their previous bikes.
It seems like many of the smaller Euro boutique brands are taking full pages from both Cannondale & GT. There have been a few GCN videos where they have highlighted seperated seat stays on a bike as a new leading innovation without mentioning their presence years ago and today on GT bikes. The e-gravel bike featured looks like a combination of the GT Grade and Cannondale Topstone Neo which to their credit sounds like a good cross.
When will bike manufactures / presenters start to realize expensive mobile phones are not designed to be used as bike computers and provide the necessary display?
My domane+ has that Fazua motor in it; it's pretty phenomenal. It's obvious that it's adding power from an exertion standpoint, but power pickup and dropoff at 20mph is completely imperceptible.
Why don’t we do the Tour De France, World’s or Paris Roubaix on E bikes! Heck why stop there. The whole UCI calendar. This is a long in the tooth flat lining industry reinventing itself to stay relevant and continue make money. Not a bad thing. But seriously. Pedaling keeps you healthy. Keep in mind there are many gear configurations that can get even us Seniors over reasonable mountain passes. An E bike is blasphemous. But I digress. Peace.
When riding to work or anywhere else I need to lock one of my bikes, I'm carrying an Abus Bordo 6500-110 (the long, though non-smart, version) with me. I don't think it's really meant to be used for at-home security (a bike holder is included in the package, too). Though, at almost 2kg, it's not exactly the most portable lock. ;-)
Nice bikes, too bad they are all upright bikes. I am 59 years old and because of back and neck problems I can no longer ride one of those. Not to mention that thing called a seat. I've been riding a two wheeled recumbent bike since 91, and in 2007 bought my second one and in 2019 converted it to a Ebike. For older people with back, and neck problems, a recumbent is the way to go. Wish you'd showed some recumbents.
The electric bike battery tech is moving on so fast one is always worried about future compatibility of something you buy today, considering all batteries have a shelf life.
....AAAaaaaand that's why I'm waiting 5 years for the tech to mature... 5 years from now, bikes will be mega integrated, mega powerful, and half the price. This is why im buying a normal bike this year.
For the scrubber gloves... The cat industry has had these for a VERY long time... Nothing innovative about this, just a "repurposed" item already in existance.
#askGCNtech I have been wearing a pair of Sidi road shoes for 10+ years. The Velcro straps are still in good shape and I replaced the ratchet strap a couple of years ago. How will I know when is the right time to get a new pair of shoes?
No tech in this video was my favourite. It’s a total yawn fest for me. Big, heavy, complicated, expensive, reliant of electronics and apps. Everything I DON’T want in a bike. By the way, those extended chainstay are of course nothing new. Check out some nineties Cannondales. #knowyourclassics
What do you mean? Ebikes are getting more people than ever before into bicycling. Which means people who would be sitting on the couch are out improving their health and SUSTAINING their longevity.
Totally agree, the initial idea was great - swap cars for ebikes/escooters in cities, but instead of that healthy and young people use ebikes instead of bikes and escooters instead of walking. Just because they are lazy.
Fazua is different from the others, you can remove the motor and use the bike as a normal bike. The others can't do that. The system however is more made for light sporty bikes, if you need much electric range a Shimano or Yamaha is the better option
It's funny that you mention s'cool. We went out looking for a bike for our 3 year old the other day. 9.3 and 7.4 kg for their 12'' xxlite model in steel and aluminium respectively. That's supposed to a bike for a 13 kg kid! Absolute crap!
Does UCI conceptualizing a Formula E type of cyclocross ECyclocross or EGravelbike competition? Winter season is a great time of the year to schedule such.
Ultra lightweight and still having to hike a bike up any sort of hill? While many urban areas are flat with nice roads and functional mass transit, most certainly aren't especially outside of Western Europe. Reinventing the Brompton as a lighter but less capable machine seems rather silly.
Fazua tech is refreshing, but has frustrating quality comparing to bosch - broken locker, squeaking bottom bracket, terrible remote, cronically non-working bluetooth, constant firmware issues to name the few. And they know zero about "product recall". Don't buy Fazua... just don't...
What you stated about Cannondale's innovation history of 50 years helping to produce modern bikes is not true. Cannondale was sold to Dorel in 2008 and all the skilled innovators left. The new owners made the brand a product for investors and Chinese quality manufacturing. That bike you're showing looks exactly like something Pacific or some other cheap brand would develop. Cannondale's name should have died with the sale of the company so at least it would have died with some honor. Now that name gets no respect or consideration from me.
What was your favourite tech from the IAA Mobility Show? Let us know in the comments!
Nothing, it's all marketing propaganda to make bikes more expensive than cars. Just more mumbo jumbo every year
That burnt orange e-gravel bike. It might be super expensive now but the high end tends to eventually pull the low end up and that high techer has a really interesting feature set,
EBike, when public transportation cannot assure safety against wuhan virus 2019, travelling solo a little bit easier is a nice choice.
Alex's sneakers?
I’ll have the orange one.
Ollie has become so meta that he's now a unit of measurement
Can we a call out to the video / editing team at GCN?! These new videos have been incredible and they deserve so much love and appreciation! Thank you GCN team!
I was going to write exactly that. The video and audio/music editing, as well as the presenting, are absolutely top shelf. Well done, GCN.
That intro music has just the right amount of punch
The pronunciation of Husqvarna was absolutely hilarious
Ja, och han borde läst på lite mer om Husqvarna

I have mixed feelings on children’s ebikes, as a lot of kids are already overweight now a days and taking away a big part of the fitness and calorie burn kind of defeats one of the big benefits of bike riding for them.
Same goes for adults, many could use the extra physical activity. But I get what your saying.
Its so they can get quicker as drivers tend to impatient and want to murder kids cycling on streets
I could barely have a €300 when I was a kid, let alone an ebike.
Taking away? I thought that cycling on a lower intense should burn more fat than pushing yourself to the limit's? Fast walking burns more fat than running as well, so I think if you talk about fat burning an e-bike might be the solution? Still cycling, still faster than normal on a lower effort
However if you talk on safety for children than I should ban ebikes kids will push them to the limit's unknown of the speed and safety hazards
Please get the electric moped for your camera operator! In so many videos the combustion engine of the moped can often be heard on the talk-while-riding shots.
They've already discussed this. Currently range is an issue.
@@whatwelearned interesting, perhaps then get a quieter moped :)
Belt drive chains and internal gears are something I am interested in. I think it would be interesting to see how stuff like that can work. I think E bikes have done something good to facilitate new tech because weight is less of a concern. Hopefully it can trickle through to push bikes too.
Hopefully a Pinion and Rohloff become more affordable!
@@interceptor7905 Rohloff won't get cheaper. But then again you buy it for life.
@@frostsmoke I know lol want to invest in one!
I can see the future of bikes in 20 years: getting rid of all the tech crap and coming back to the basics. Modern Cycling is getting ridiculous.
All I know about bikes of the future is that I can’t afford any of them!
Those e-scooter things need to have a license requirement or something. People around where I live ride them like they're actually completely brainless.
So true. Here where I live they ride those things even on the sidewalks and they go full gas
A lot of 1500 watt kits out there. Even the pedal actuated throttles activate at their set level regardless of rider power. They only need to move the pedals.
Korea is same
Law is importance
I can't wait to see LPL test that Abus lock.
E bikes may have a place for some situations, but when the title of the video asks "Is This The future of Cycling?", I would say "I hope not."
The first thing I thought of when I saw that Storck e-gravel bike was, That is what Cannondale did back in the early 90's with their 3.0 series criterium frames. I guess if you wait long enough what is old becomes new again!
Alex is quickly becoming my favorite GCN presenter (after Manon, of course). He's just fun to listen to (e.g., the 5000 watt Ollie comment). Go Alex!
You have the sickest sneaker game among GCN presenters
Speaking of gravel. All these GCN sister channels, but no GGCN? I’m sure you could find a couple Gravel hardcores in America to present Gravel videos. You already have one of the best cross riders in JPow . I think it would work…..
#BringBackJPow
Now, you can rename your channel to Global Electric Network
@3:17 First thing I thought of was when did my lawn mower become a scooter 🤣
Alex is The most favorite GCN presenter ,👍
When I first saw the orange coloured e-gravel bike. I thought it was a Cannondale with those chain and seat stays. I was surprised it's a Storck and not a Cannondale. As Cannondale used that style of stays i=on their previous bikes.

Alex will be begging to be sent there again next year I bet..
Why does the ABUS bored need to fold up and have a travel holster if it's designed specially to be used at home?
Great video GCN. More content like this would be wonderful and it really suits Alex’s style I think.
I'm pretty sure that Storck ebike frame is inspired by the Canyon Inflite? Or at the very least, the principles of design are similar.
You could actually try out classified gears on the IAA, that was a cool experience. I think that might be the future for road racing.
My bike is the future of cycling, fully automatic shifting and CVT. Rides like no other bike ever could.
That Formula E is super cool!
That Cannondale is actually a really nice weekender.
Lock Picking Lawyer will get past that lock in under 20 seconds.
When will bike manufactures / presenters start to realize expensive mobile phones are not designed to be used as bike computers and provide the necessary display?
The lock is RESILIENT , the thief is PERSISTENT!
I’ll be impressed when a bike comes with a pie warmer
Ur content is always awesome
Will bike disc breaks ever get sophisticated enough for regenerative breaking on an ebike ?
Some hub motors already can
Disk "brakes" don't do regenerative energy capture.
That Porsche - Storck Cyclobike ebike rear dropouts remind of me the old Cannondale R400 - R700 frames.
I want a video that's just people walking in front of GCN's camera while they're trying to shoot a segment
Can you tell me what the silver bike is at 5:44?
Highlight of the video - Alex's running shoes. (Wondering if they are eShoes?!)
We call those "sneakers" on earth.
Great video! Loved the cool story by Ollie. 😂
these muc off scrubber gloves can be found on aliexpress without the logo for much much less
Mathieu van der Poel’s Canyon cyclocross bike has a top tube like that, to make bike carries easier.
i wonder how many seconds will it take to lockpikinglaywer to pick this new advanced keyless lock...
47 to talk about it, 14 to pick it and a couple to say bye.
Didn’t cannondale use that “kicked out” rear axle on the old 3 series? (@c 7:00)

Urban mobility yet no singlespeed bike that weighs less than 4 kg. But gravel bikes? Why? 🤦♂️
