I think most ppl got the wrong idea from the clip. It’s the wedding night of the captive Prince and Hao Lan, his love. The prince has NEVER loved the crazy woman and he is NOT her husband/ betrothed/ lover. He doesn’t give her a hoot! This is an example of a shameless jealous and crazy frustrated woman. Watch the drama, it’s kind of sad.
If you truly love someone you’d let them go. Their happiness is yours.

It is so sad to see the person you love have someone in there heart but you can’t let them go no matter what because in your heart your love for him is soo deep to let it go. But is better you let him go because what is the point to be with someone like that he don’t deserve you at all. In the end he will regret it.
Her love was just an obsessive one sided affair. He never loved her or gave her any attention/ hope that he did. So what is there to “let go?” She never “had him” to let go. He always loved Hao Lan from day 1. This is one crazy disillusioned woman.
Most Chinese dramas I see scary women like this, but the men don’t know how to say “NO!” and push them off, so these women persevere. Here, he tells her the blatant truth, “I’ve never liked you and will never!” Good for him

tl;dr Princess Ya tries to kill Haolan so she doesn't marry Yiren, all because of the fact her calculations went wrong when she tried to get Haolan to leave the palace and forcibly marry someone else. Yiren saves Haolan from said calculations, which is how all of this started. This makes Princess Ya upset and angry, because this only proves what her mother said was right, that Yiren does not, and will not love her nor marry her; he was keeping her at arms length and using her for his own survival
