One that you touched on that I find especially helpful - help someone else. Do something kind. Give a sincere compliment, pay for someone else's coffee or fast food in the drive-thru, call a friend you know needs a chat. It really helps get you out of your own headspace, think about others, and, very often, you'll get some extra kindness that you need in return. ❤
Love Love this! Mental health is so important!! You should do a video about this with Sam. Crafting and cleaning helps me as well! Once I start water coloring or straightening up my room my mood/mind clears up and there's less shit for me to be upset over lol

Doing your make up and wearing clothes that you feel good in really do make a difference! I feel like so many people are judgemental of that because they think it's vain and superficial, at least in my experience and that always bummed me out, like yes you should always nurture your soul and take care of yourself in that way, but those other things can be a little sprinkle on top too! I wish people were more open and accepting of the way that we all chose to make ourselves feel good. Like people even find a way to make that a negative thing lol.
These are exactly what I do to, I live with a really debilitating chronic illness and there are many overwhelmingly shit days. Over the past six years I’ve learnt how to get myself through them and I think your tips are bang on. For anyone who doesn’t already, like you said, CRY IT OUT. Acknowledge your feelings and be kind to your self in that moment. Love yourself like you would if it were your best friend sitting there with their heart breaking. Treat yo self is the other key one! I basically treat myself like a big child, when I have a horrid medical appointment coming up I know is going to be awful I plan the rest of the day around that to be full of delicious food, whatever I want 💯 guilt free. I’m saying to myself, if you do this horrible thing you earn yourself whatever treat you like. Self care baby! Yesterday I had to sell my pride and joy car that I worked so hard for and loved so much because I can no longer drive it. It literally broke my heart. Today I plan retail therapy 😂 listen to Alanna my friends she speaks the truth! Also know though, this is excellent advice and like I said I use a lot of it but sometimes it is ok to sit in the feeling for a whole day if that’s what you need. If it’s really breaking you, let it run its course 💖

The "clean yourself" tip is actually so helpful. Seriously. When I was little and had a crying fit about something, when I calmed down a bit my mom would ALWAYS tell me to go splash some water on my face. I always felt so much better right after. Even that little action, even without soap or whatever, cleanses away some of the negativity. Cool water, maybe a gentle massage... it helps. For real. ONE OTHER TIP: TALK to someone. Doesn't have to be about whatever you're sad/upset about, but call a friend, or family member, or whatever, and just chat for a bit. Go out for coffee with them. Even for 10 mins between work things. Social connection is SO IMPORTANT to well-being and it so easily falls away when we feel bad. Let people remind you you are not alone.

These last two weeks I’ve been in the weirdest down in the dumps, negative af, complainy mood & I stopped working out ever since it started! I know they say work out when you’re in this mood, but it honestly hasn’t been making me feel better! I’ve been thinking “am I broken?” But your indulge yourself tip made me realize that I’m not crazy for reaching for the pint of ice cream instead. Not the healthiest, but temporary. Funks suck!

Going for a walk absolutely helps! I started going for walks this year to help with my mental health, its genuinely made a difference.. really helps lift my mood, for a while anyways. Glad ur hands better 👋🏻
This was fantastic. I feel like I do a lot of these when I'm sad. I think the best thing you said was to "cry it out." Don't hold it in. Don't hold it back. Just let it out. Crying seems to release tension for me. While I still feel shitty afterward, I can go about my day just a little better.

I’ve saved this video. 💕 For point 10, going outside (great tip), if I can’t actually get out at that moment, I get a similar effect from some instastories of accounts that feature nature photography/videos etc. It really helps you realise there’s a huge world out there and it somehow helps your problems seem less overwhelming.
This is awesome Allana. It feel like the world is collectively becoming more depressed as time goes on and there are so many factors that push people into these, for lack of better words, shit moods. I’m on the verge of 30, and as I grow older and grumpier, I’ve learned that doing these types of “treatments” you just described makes the world of difference when it comes to mental health and general well-being. I hope you continue to make shorter but impactful vids like these. I think it helps gives us “normal” non-you tubers a bit more perspective when it comes to UA-cam life and makes you (and the UA-cam community as a whole ) more approachable and relatable. These last two weeks I’ve been in the weirdest down in the dumps, negative af, complainy mood & I stopped working out ever since it started! I know they say work out when you’re in this mood, but it honestly hasn’t been making me feel better! I’ve been thinking “am I broken?” But your indulge yourself tip made me realize that I’m not crazy for reaching for the pint of ice cream instead. Not the healthiest, but temporary. Funks suck!

Going for a walk absolutely helps! I started going for walks this year to help with my mental health, its genuinely made a difference.. really helps lift my mood, for a while anyways. Glad ur hands better 👋🏻

This was fantastic. I feel like I do a lot of these when I'm sad. I think the best thing you said was to "cry it out." Don't hold it in. Don't hold it back. Just let it out. Crying seems to release tension for me. While I still feel shitty afterward, I can go about my day just a little better.

I’ve saved this video. 💕 For point 10, going outside (great tip), if I can’t actually get out at that moment, I get a similar effect from some instastories of accounts that feature nature photography/videos etc. It really helps you realise there’s a huge world out there and it somehow helps your problems seem less overwhelming.
This is awesome Allana. It feel like the world is collectively becoming more depressed as time goes on and there are so many factors that push people into these, for lack of better words, shit moods. I’m on the verge of 30, and as I grow older and grumpier, I’ve learned that doing these types of “treatments” you just described makes the world of difference when it comes to mental health and general well-being. I hope you continue to make shorter but impactful vids like these. I think it helps gives us “normal” non-you tubers a bit more perspective when it comes to UA-cam life and makes you (and the UA-cam community as a whole ) more approachable and relatable. So just wanted to give you a big thank you for taking the time to make this...it’s insanely great advice. Well done 👏👏👏❤️
