When I was a kid I wanted the Talking KITT for Christmas. Unfortunately it was THE sought after Christmas item that year and stores were sold out. I had to wait 30 years before I finally got a hold of one.
As a kid I had the beloved Voice Car but my gripe was that "Knight 2000" lettering since it wasn't on the show. Now, I LOVE it, especially on that tour car.

I found a DST 1/15 scale talking Kitt at a swap meet last weekend and bought it instantly. I did have the plastic ERTL Kitt model growing up, which wasn't capable of taking much abuse. My blue Lego Technic pneumatic forklift was that cars nemesis for a while.

i have two kitt toys that are made in the 2010s but my dad has 3 kitt toys bought in the 80s
I've got ten Kenner Knight 2000 whip shifter cars and two Knight 2000 voice cars, I used to have a kenner whip shifter Knight 2000 car when I was eight years old I got it for Christmas back in 1985, I tore it up but I made up for it now with my collection I have of them now, I bought them off of eBay about four years ago and I have some of the plastic model kits of the Knight industries two thousand as well, that's an awesome collection you have also😊😊😊👍👍👍
Awesome collection :) I remember my neighbour had the whip shifter KITT model in the 80's when the show was still on tv, and indeed it looked very nicely detailed and pretty accurate, well didn't care about the dent on the roof though. I also seem to recall it had soft rubber front nose. Never knew it's a Kenner toy. We played with it outside on a dirt road, replicating various KITT stunts, so it got heavily used :D
Such nostalgia! My brother and I both had our own KITT Voice Cars, because we couldn’t share! 😂 I think both of ours ended up breaking at the base of the windshield A pillars. And I eventually took mine apart to discover the record player voice box inside. But man I loved playing with that car!
I had the Knight Rider Turbo Booster set and the Knight 2000 Voice Car. Good memories.
Always wanted the Comtron truck set.

I had a few firebirds of this era. They were fun cars to drive. Not the fastest as they aged. The most powerful one I owned was an 89 Formula model.

Wonderful Kenner toys, and they are in perfect condition.
I have a miniature KITT, powered by friction, on a 1/24 scale, made by the Brazilian company Glasslite, which was manufactured at the time the TV series was on the air on Record TV (Brazilian title: A Super Máquina [The Super Machine]).
In fact, all the toys in this TV series were manufactured by Glasslite, which held the rights, to make the licensed toys.

Kenner did a pretty good job. ERTL was kinda okay, except theirs were just a red sticker slapped on an unmodified Trans-Am die cast vehicles in Hotwheels size and 1/18th scale.
I had a gray version of the launcher , a keychain launcher kitt , talking kitt toy , the semi crash truck

I have that Michael Knight figure but I have the Diamond Select KITT 1/15 scale. Still looking for KARR tho. MK doesn't fit in the car lol. Man I wish I had all of these......

not trying to seem mean but i have the Diamond Select KITT 1/15 scale that come with the Micheal Knight figure, but i guess yours didnt come with the Micheal knight, then again i bought mine the day it was released

2:13 you’re lucky you found one in such good condition. They usually got bashed up pretty good from being launched all over the place. I have one and it has a few little scuffs but nothing major more like pins.
Yeah I had two of those launcher cars - always wanted the Comtron set but we never saw it in our local stores - but yeah the paint on those KITT cars would come off pretty easily - I had one that lost so much of its paint, it was almost entirely bare metal - I remember taking some low grit sand paper as a kid so I could at least make it all silver - sort of like when they rebuilt KITT in Season 3 and 4. Lost them both somewhere during moves - but I still have my launcher and a Hot Wheels KITT

Awww!! I was hoping to get the burning question answered about those Kenner toys; WHYYYYYYY did they put "KNIGHT 2000" on the doors of all those Knight Rider toys???!!!??? It was NEVER like that in the show!!! Why! Why!! WHY!!!

hey bro love the video took me back i had the toy with the shotgun turbo boost and played with it every day till it wore out i also had my picture taken it kitt when it toured NZ Taupo back in the 80s so this car will always hold a special place in my hart thanks for the video .... PS if i come up to auckland can i get a picture with the car i'll donate $100 lol :)

Am surprise with the popularity of the show, they sell KITT and KARR, but what about Goliath??
Hasbro should bring back the Knight RIder Line under the Kenner Classics name like they have a lot of The Ghostbusters toys. They should also bring back the M.A.S.K. toy line.
It would not surprise me if Hasbro does have plans to revisit more of Kenner's 1980's toy offering since 1980's nostalgia is at an all-time high and I believe the Kenner Classic Real Ghostbusters toys did pretty decent sales wise.

I had one of those RC K.I.T.T.s was identical except it has cross wire style rims and was branded MATSUSHIRO not Kenner I loved but my sister dropped my Playskool Bigfoot down the stairs and it landed in kitt smashing into pieces. Despite pleading to glue it back together my parents binned it! 😥
What I don't understand: You seem to have a pretty decent T/A there , why on earth do you have no rear view mirror and seat belts?

I remember a KITT model from my childhood , I got this when I came into primary school after my years in kindergarten. Don't have it any more, not really sure if it was a Kenner model. But pretty sure that it was 1:18 in scale and very detailed without major misses in comparison with the series original.

You would push the license plate down and play music 🤔 oh Lord I had so many toys that I left back at my step dad's, even all the old barbie dolls and case,the matchbox cars with a garage..😭
