Good stuff, a quarter-mile in 12.7 is only about 0.5s behind what the US magazines got from the Gen 3 SV in their road tests, and they usually take their performance figures at drag strips with a super-smooth and sticky surface. 199kph top speed is also very good for a naked 650.
I always think it's funny when the SV is described as a 'good bike for beginners.' Back in the mid-1970s, the Kawasaki Z1 900 was just about the biggest, fastest, baddest bike you could buy. In US magazines, the Z1 managed 12.4 / 12.5-second quarter mile times at around 110mph (175kph), with a top speed of around 210kph, and no-one ever called THAT a 'beginner's bike' ...

Thank you. I’ve actually been very interested in finding out what sort of speeds and times this bike produces. I’ve ridden a couple of them, including when it was first released. Never understood the hype as they were slow then in 1998/9 and still are. Especially, when you compare it with the last of Suzuki’s 250 cc V-twin 250 cc bike of the time (RGV-250), which had a quicker 0-100 time and about 25 kph more top speed, plus Suzuki’s GSXR-750, which was quicker again (I had and raced both). For general transportation purposes is possibly where it sits. 🤔

at european law it's not allowed that speedo shows less than you actually ride. That's why manufacturers let the speedo show a bit more. And additional you have a lot of wheelspin at higher speeds.
