Berkeley is a city in Northern California on the east side of San Francisco Bay. It’s home to the University of California, Berkeley, birthplace of the 1960s Free Speech Movement. The 1914 Sather Tower, known as the Campanile, has views of the campus and the bay. The open-air Hearst Greek Theatre stages major concerts. Clustered on and near Telegraph Avenue, south of the university, are cafes, shops and music stores.

Thanks so much for this tour of downtown Berkeley and parts of the campus. As an alum who graduated in 1972 when the campus was 27,000, it is interesting to see the current campus at 40,000. So many changes yet so much that is exactly the same. The incredible agora which is Sproul Plaza was then and remains now a totally unique environment not equaled by very many campuses across the U.S. One positive aspect of the current student increase is that downtown Berkeley looks much more vibrant than it did almost 50 years ago. Shattuck Avenue, with BART running underneath, has always been an awkwardly wide road (built when a train ran down the middle) and definitely looks better with the much larger new buildings lining the sides which help to enclose the space. I am retired in Palm Springs now, but I will always have Berkeley (both the University and the town) in my heart. Thank you again for your vlog, it was a wonderful trip down memory lane.

Thank you for this wonderful tour! I'm Class of 1976 and haven't been back to campus in over 10 years. As William said, so many changes, yet so much remains the same (and that's comforting). The campus is still so beautiful! Downtown sure looks different (for the better). Fond memories brought to the surface thanks to your beautiful work.

She's be in good hands. Berkeley and Oakland have thousands of Korean people and it's a great place to be. I'm not Korean, but used to attend a Korean curch in Oakland and lived with Korean-American students off campus. ❤
