Earlier in the film, Annie says to Helen’s father, “I don’t even love her.” But here, Helen says “I love you” in the only way that she can … a silent kiss on the cheek … the first time Annie has received love of any kind since she lost her brother … and Annie realizes how much she has come to love Helen, too. It’s just beautiful. You don’t need to see or hear to be able to feel and share love.😢
I always thought when Annie said, "and I don't even love her " it was because she was so afraid of what it meant to have Helen reject her love that she was just projecting. I think Annie was more afraid of that rejection than if Helen could ever learn to read braille, use sign language, etc.
I always thought the way Bancroft played Annie was incredibly vulnerable, with this tough exterior.
RIP Helen Keller & RIP Annie Sullivan
-
RIP Patty Duke & Anne Bancroft
Annie Sullivan was the light in Helen’s darkness.
Anna was not just a teacher but she was like a second mother to Helen.
One of my absolutly favorite scenes in this movie. Every night, while it was on Broadway, Ms Patty got held and told she was loved. We are going to miss this sweet lady.
Since Helen has only just learned about words and meanings of words, this is probably the first time she learns what “L-O-V-E” means. She’s never known the word spelled out before, but feeling Annie’s warm embrace, she can sense exactly what those letters are conveying. She doesn’t need to ask.
@12classics39 I was referring to Ms Patty, who had a horrible childhood and wrote about it. I could not believe how her 'guardians' treated her. She was never told she was loved or held, except during the end of each performance.
There shouldn’t even be a dislike for this scene.
I guess 8 people hate love and miracles.
And just about every part of the movie 'The Miracle Worker' is true. Annie Sullivan's eyesight was not that great; Helen Keller was blind, deaf, and could not speak, yet; Helen Keller died in 1968, and is buried beside Annie Sullivan in Alabama
Wow! Really! Helen and Annie r buried along side each other? What about Helen's parents ?
I love this part of the movie
Their ashes are interred besides each other in the crypt at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. I have been there.
@@eddihaskell Wow! I didn't know this! TY!
@@flysoup3607 Where did you hear that she was a fraud?
Beautiful beautiful score, patty duke did a splendid job. One of my favorite movies!!!!
Ann and Helen were FRIENDS FOR EVER.. I love the kiss and the hug.I love Helen! "so beautiful.I cry everytime. Ann had success with Helen ,Helen won't be a wild child anymore and will make rapid progress thanks to Ann's love..Wonderful movie, one of my favourite!
Helen even went to University and got more than one degree. She also gave "speeches" and advocated for better circumstances for the deaf, blinnd and deaf-blind people.
I don't have enough words to say how emotional this scene from the miracle worker is. 😭😭😭😭😭😭🥺🥺🥺
This scene makes me so emotional in a good way, this was one of the best movies ever and I will miss these 2 amazing actresses...
One of the most touching scene I. Movie history ever.. my heart just bursts♥️♥️♥️♥️
Marley and me didn't make me cry
But for some reason this ending did
That’s because this is an emotionally honest and actually moving film, instead of cheap sentimentality like what is found in Marley and Me.
The beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Annie wore dark sunglasses when she first appears and throughout the movie to symbolize the incredible hardship she was about to endure to teach Helen how to communicate. And at the last scene Annie didn't wear her glasses at all, signifying that she accomplished her goal. Excellent movie progression imo.
And also Annie had a problem with her eyes so she couldn't see direct sunlight. She went to a school for blind when she was younger!! I read that in the Hellen Keller's biography
@@059_madelineabigail5 What frustrated Annie - I read that in a biography about Annie - is that the school where she went as a child and taught as a teacher - took credit for Helen's progress, while Annie didn't use the school's method at all.
She wears them because the sun hurts her eyes. In the last scene she is on the porch outside so she did not need them. I do not think there was anything symbolic about the glasses
She wears them because the sun hurts her eyes lol
Annie was almost blind
I love Betty Davis, but Ann Bancroft totally deserved that Oscar
Why? Davis was brilliant in Baby Jane.
COULDN'T AGREE MORE! ONE OF THE GREATEST ACTING PERFORMANCES ON FILM!
Was the melody supposed to be mockingbird? Cause that was awesome
Arty Munoz Laurence Rosenthal’s haunting score. Yes, a take on that song.
Yes, as I believe Anne sings it to Helen and it symbolises the loving bond Anne forms with Helen
And Annie meant it in real life...she loved Helen until the day she died.
Indeed, At the moment Annie died, her hand was clasped in Helen’s. And through her strong sense of touch, Helen felt her teacher’s breathing stop, and didn’t need to be told.
One of my very favorite movies! Loved both of them!
This scene is the only time where I cried watching something in public. It was in school, and I tried really hard to hold it in. I need to watch this again soon.
76st...I saw an Interview with WM Schallert who played her dad in the PAtty Duke show... such a sweet man he was.... he said - it still made him tear up when he thinks of that scene in the Miracle Worker with the water...he was enamored by Patty Dukes Acting skills.... that scene / the thought of it ...made him choke up every time...
Just found out Helen is my cousin. What an amazing story. Most of it written by her. EXCUSES ARE USELESS
Bring tears to my eyes every time i watch it. Beautiful ending scene to a very beautiful and touching film.❤
Both of them are the most beautiful people man.. love them..💜💜❤❤😘
You know as much as I loved Bette Davis in Baby Jane. Anne Bancroft just was brilliant In this role, and Patty Duke. Classic
Bette could not approach the kind of excellence Anne Bancroft displays in this movie
It was sweet since Ann couldn't say I love you to anyone after her brother died.
Makes me cry every time!
This movie from 1962 is better than the Disney's version from 1999! Anne Bandcroft and Patty Duke are the bests in Arthur Penn's adapation.
True. The other movies seemed like cheap copies.
This was the end of the movie, but it was the beginning of Helen's new life.
Best scene! This scene almost made me cry for some reason ;')
The score by Laurence Rosenthal makes me cry.
I love love this movie my favourite is when Helen kisses Annie and Annie said I love Helen
Anne Bancroft is so amazing. ❤
I'm not crying, you're crying 😢😭😭😭
iconic movie
:.) So emotional
A rare moment of truce in their battle. LOL!! Beautiful.
I really love this movie
I love it
It's one of my favorates. We had lessons on her in elementary school, over 30 years ago for me. I think I'll check and see if there are any documentaries somewhere on her.
I know there is a video online where you see Helen learning to speak.
Anna was so proud of Helen when she graduated in 1904...she probably spelled it to her.
It so emotional scene 😎
So cute!
Great film
This was beautiful
SHE KNOWS ANN LOVES HER...TEARS
Love, real Love changes everything!
I’m not crying, you are
Волшебная игра актрис!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I first saw this film in middle school and was so confused by this scene. When the teacher says, "I love Helen," how does Helen know what love is?
Love isn't an object that she can touch.
It's a feeling.
How did Helen understand the word love?
I just like it that these videos like don’t get unlikes
emotinal xx n moving
so so so cute
aw...
I seen this movie in 1995 and I love it because she kiss 💋 😍
😭❤
❤
Very sad :(
They didn't have this scene in the 1979 version.
Then they really missed a great scene
The play on Broadway ends at the pump. Anne Bancroft HATED this ending which she felt pumped (pardon the pun) the climactic scene.
Reminds Me Of Hugging Cruella De Vil And Lois Griffin
Finally a non fighting scene
It shows how far their relationship came from how it used to be. As Helen grew, Annie was her lifelong companion and they were inseparable until Annie died with her hand still clasped in Helen’s.
I look now
Helen grew up to be a devout socialist
considering that she lived in complete darkness and silence 24/7, let’s appreciate the fact that she managed to have a LIFE at all, thanks to Annie.
Fraud
Helen Keller was not a fraud.
It STINKS!
