How I understand this is we use the EBP for any resident with an indwelling device or wound, assuming they have an MDRO as a proactive approach to infection control. We have the PPE in the residents bathroom for dignity purposes. Any tips on if a resident becomes insulted with the use of EBP
This is just another impractical, useless, expensive and time wasting measure that does mostly nothing. We put on EBP to protect our hands from transmission while the pt. touches the same door handle that we also touch with out bare hands. We also put on aprons for wound/catheter patients when we will often/usually not touch the patient's bed with our clothes. This will cost billions in time wasted by staff and wasted PPE and increased trash waste. Just another reason to leave healthcare entirely. Allen, RN, BSN (30 yrs)
