Just bought mine today, I cannot wait to start playing around with it. I am coming from an A57 (yes, from 2012) and when I was ready to upgrade (I am now focusing on my photography full-time and going to open my own business), IT was past time, although I have taken some great shots on my A57 over the years, it just cannot hold up to these modern mirrorless cameras. Super excited!
You're going to love it. For me the secret was programming all the back and top buttons just as you want it. My 2 favourites is to make the back wheel adjust the ISO and C1 to be crop sensor so 1 click and you punch in on your subject. I've done vids on it andbits the same as A7RV. What will you predominantly shoot?
Just got mine and coming from an a7riii its better in every way. For action 7fps is plenty to have uncompressed 61mp raws, but to have the ability to turn my 70-200 f2.8 gmii into a 150-420mm f4 with the 1.4x teleconverter @26 megapixels.. is like having a 400mm f4 6k+ dollar prime super telephoto lens on a body (for half the cost!) and it zooms in comparison!! with better buffer rate, edge to edge af points, and better sharpness overall because you're only using the center of the glass in crop mode with smaller file sizes. turn on compressed raw and further increase your buffer rate and amount of photos you can take before filling the buffer but also jump to 10fps! not saying its the best sports camera in class but combined with even better weather sealing, class leading af performance and dynamic range, for a camera that excels in almost every other stills category this thing can STILL compete with other class leading sports cameras in the industry!
Boom! I completely agree with your comments. I almost got the A7IV and so glad I didn't. Im interested to know weather the lens performance will be as good with the telephoto converter and if you notice any difference with white balance? I it seems strange but some lenses will affect the WB. We're you not tempted to wait for the Sony #A7RV ?
Did anyone compare the RAW files between the A7RIVA and the older A7RIV? I am curious to know if the embedded jpeg file is larger with the A version. Since started in 2021 with the A7IV and A1, Sony raw files finally started including the full resolution jpeg embedded in the raw file.
@@SlipstreamCreativeAgency The main difference is that some photographers are now using AI software for culling their photographs. These AI programs like to use the embedded jpeg to analyze photos for smiles, eyes open, focus etc...and when you have raw files with small jpegs embedded they don't work well with that software.
@@anthonyroffe5628 I'm with you on that. To be honest though I haven't found the compressed raw a problem at 60mb even on a busy shoot. Large cards and SSD are so affordable now. A dust cover or some similar solution would be good as I do have to clean the sensor quite often.
I just bought 2 new Sony A7R IVA for to good of price to justify buying the new V. one i got for 2500 shipped, then one was a open box for 2150 shipped USD prices. So i bought 2 for 4600! lol . I hope sony releases a higher res sensor in near future. they been talking over 100mp for to long now. But most people do not care about zooming into a pic to see more detail. 61mp enough for huge prints is the way most see it.
I think that's a valid decision. If you don't need 4k video 60fps, and the extra stabilisation and focus ability. I've just sold mine and bought the A7RV so ill be doing some cool reviews on it to see if its worth it. The problem with 100mp is you're amplifying problems as you're squashing more pixels into the same size sensor and if you make a bigger sensor then its just a different camera and probably struggle to keep it as a usable hybrid. But we'll see. I'm sure someone will do it, like first to land on the moon.
I’ve had my a7r4 I’d love to see more content on it. It’s hard to find. I really enjoy this camera.
Yeah, good solid camera.

Interesting, I personally haven't done that comparison. I do find the quality so high at this level that I can't see the difference

OK I see.
Quick question, when playing back a photo you took and you press the AF ON button to magnify what magnification is initial? 100%?
mmm, I don't know in % but it's super close, like too close. You then scroll the wheel to pull back
What would you most like added to the much awaited A7R V that is being released later this month?
Medium and small raw filesize, and an effective dust reduction feature.

Well being a nikon dslr user myself, I'm patiently waiting for my perfect camera to be released. This could be it.
@@anthonyroffe5628 I came from Nikon D810. What do you shoot with and what would be the perfect camera for you?

Great review! Do you make adjustments to your settings for jPegs?
