well, my uncle had a marriage last month he's a doc and his wife a teacher.....so they spent 3.85 lac not for wedding,they gave meal and some stationary and some few 800+ books(for library )to 5 govt school ....weeding is usually simple in NE,less guest,pure happiness. just felt to share with you guys.

About dowry, I think here in Himachal things are better then other state. Urban people and rural people don't pressurize their family to give dowry compulsory. If bride family don't want to give it then thats all. People modernized one reason can be awareness and other reason can be arrange marriage because guys these days are not able to find a suitable bride and even in maximum marriages nowdays dowry is not given by brides family in Himachal pradesh....

I got married in 2018 December and gosh.. there were so many guests, like only relatives and family friends.. especially since my wedding was the first wedding on my gen from my side of family while for my husband it was last of his gen. Though there was definitely some extravaganza on my wedding, I had fun and loved every moment of it

I never understood why there is any need to invite 500 to 1000 guests, shadi is basically a pooja or yajna, however, you want to perceive it. But it is not any event of showing off your wealth you don'thave. Shadi should be an intimate event, and if possible I will only invite 50 people from my extended family, I have already told my maa and buas that I will wear their wedding outfits for my wedding events, food is going to be really good at my wedding but there won't be any wastage. And if anyone really wants to spend so much on my or any other wedding give that money to the couple and they will buy a house from that money. I have sworn that I will have a beautiful but inexpensive wedding. Zindagi bhar kamar tod kar mere papa ne paise sirf ek din udane ke liye nhi kamaye.

For my marriage, my parents and my in-laws made all arrangements at reasonable spending... pre wedding shoot, 5 days events for marriage, moderate level function halls, decent decorations, grand entry events, nearly 75 varieties of veg catterring, arranged 3 buses for relatives everything all under 10 lakhs....which was very reasonable....I saw my friends parents spending nearly 25 lakhs for the same level of arrangements.....
My parents and my in laws too are good at arranging anything necessary with decent quality at a reasonable cost....
What i mean to say is, for marriage, few people dont control their expenses with the feeling that we might become inferior in front of others.... this inferiority feeling is wrong.... we can do all arrangements within the preplanned budget with proper monitoring on expenses
best thing one can do is provide food to charities or infantries instead of throwing a huge party in order to boast off their wealth.

I got married in a small Islamic wedding cause my husband had to go Australia and get paper work done. I was a little bit sad because we could afford a lavish wedding like my cousins but circumstances were blessings in disguise❤ saved money and used it fir comfortable living our expenses while people are still paying loans Alhumdulillah barik fee. Small wedding with people you love is the best wedding. You should be surrounded by family and friends not by everyone you know.
After watching your video I took a moment to pat myself. My husband and I are working at Adobe, IT Professionals got married in 2023 in a mandir with 100 folks at max where I recycled my mother's bridal lehnga and ZERO DOWRY. The complete function was funded by me and my husband.
