    A good-sized chunk of a clip for the end of the year.
    Some polish, a few small transitions to tie some scenes together, and two more full scenes are left to animate before episode 2 is complete. Rest assured, every hour I'm awake is going to be spent working on this, until it is done.
    Thanks to everyone for their support, and happy Everything to everyone, and have a safe(ish) remainder of your 2021.

    Something I really love about his work is how big and alive he makes the universe feel by giving distinct personalities to small characters, like Falcos dad, or Wolfs dad, or those lemur brothers, or Bill, and now these two. Hell, even Fay flipping the bird to Wolf conveys a lot of character and history for her. I love when we take time from the plot to spend with these small characters. Feels like there’s a bigger universe around the immediate story going on. Like, there’s a million stories going on, but we’re focused on one that keeps brushing up against others.

      The last sequence threw me off. Idk if I want to say it’s bad but it was so clearly made differently to everything else It was a bit jarring.

    • @cookiepig1038
      @cookiepig1038 2 роки тому +13

      @@monk3110 as an animation student, I’ve got a little bit of expertise, and I can say it’s definitely a really fluid animation at the end. It looks a bit like rotoscoping like others are saying, (tracing live action footage) but even if it is a trace, it’s still got character drawn into their facial expressions and external features like their ears. It’s a skillful shot, but you’re right, it’s a little jarring to see it right after some more stiff movements, which can take you out of the moment. I like it tho :]

    • @DaMu24
      @DaMu24 2 роки тому +12

      It's normally not recommended to have such a fluid juxtaposition to the stiff animation, but this scene really makes it shine well. Compare Riendo's emotional energy throughout this scene. From boring standard procedure, to no tolerance for marbles, to annoyance from Kajecis, to the flowerpot realization, and that one horse kindly asking to get the line moving, he`s simmering to a boiling point in emotion. It really makes the sudden contrast in expression much more impactful.
      I love this scene, rotoscoping be damned.

    Strikingly "real" dialogue. Not sure what this is, but I like it.

    I can't get over the audio design of your work. The voice acting is perfect & the grainy filter makes every line sound like something out of an old western.

      I wonder how much of this episode is ready to go? Because I'd be willing to see a Part 1 of episode 2, if like the first ten minutes ( or even five minutes) are finished.

    I would like a crossover of your James McCloud and Steve Blum's Spike Spiegel, with them having long deep and serious conversations with each other in both of their most somber, sorry, bitter, and resigned voices. Just stoically tell each other bittersweet old fables and share a mostly quiet hour of mutual reverence together, each of them knowing of the other's difficult past, and silently respecting the other's resolve.

    Only opened this video to see the comments ...boy em I anxious about episode 2. (have only watched no more than a few clips when the feeling overtakes me. 95% of the episode will be surprise)
    So thrilled to know there is that little left for it to be released.
    Please make sure to properly announce the streaming you are going to make when its finished. I want to be there!
    Congrats.

      Peppy walking at the beginning and Riendo flipping out at the end were added after switching to Blender. The rest of the animation I make from now on will be a lot closer to this quality.

      To be fair, Riendo did keep the marbles in the end! James was forced to improvise later when he thought he was going to need a weapon!

    Gah, it's been such a treat watching your process on this on stream. Thank you for all the late night cackles as you talk about these two goofballs. I think my favorite part is how they both have their gooofy smiles on their badge portraits, but they seemingly have this constant bickering on the daily.
    Bless your heart, and keep on keepin' on, my guy!

    You have been a huge influence on why I have started animation. Your art style and dedication to what you do earns my respect. The realistic feel your animations bring are so rare to come by. I cannot think of anything else to say except thank you. Keep doing you man!
