You will love it. Also you can drop the height it by 40mm yourself, simple process and all you need to buy is new fork oil. Is my favourite bike all time, and I have owned more than 20 bikes! It will never be sold.
@@lightweightadvyes first thing to do is purchase the Clymer Manual, it is a must have for this bike. For the front forks all you need to do is relocate the spacer in both forks from top of fork to bottom of forks and replace the fork oil. For the rear shock you need to flip the spring seat collar and move the lower bolt from the bottom mount hole to the upper mount hole. This is the genuine inbuilt Suzuki lowering method and will drop the height by 40mm and the riding dynamics will not be compromised.
The DR650 is a little heavy, the price and cost of fixing the small niggles with the DR will still put you below the others. There is also the fact that oil cooling works better in the bush than water cooling.

Had one and it was a lot of fun. But do yourself a favour and spend the money on upgrading the suspension, exhaust, large fuel tank, and a better seat. Great bike, but it’s not great for long days on the highway.
Oh cool, are these the main upgrades I should be thinking of then? I will be planning to do some travel on it obviously, as well as some sand bashing and mountain trails
Buying the DR 650 SE is nothing to regret.Selling , is a big one.I am a living proof.They say don't regret the past.Easy said than done.Never sell yours...
@701Adventures was honestly very tempted but this just seemed a better fit for what I was after. I can certainly see a 701 in my future at done point though 😜

Yeah, I think a little weight can be lost for sure which like you say should be cheap enough. 👍
