I’m a convert from Rotopax myself. I used the 1 gallon Armadillo bag every day on a recent three day ride around a place where this is legal for fuel transportation. Easier to fill and dispense than I thought it would be (I use a large carabiner to hang it from my motorcycle handguards) and it’s light weight and being able to roll it up and stash it when empty is the best part.
I have a 2 gallon bag, I've started using a Garage Boss Press 'N Pour Fuel Container Spout with my bag. I ride a Suzuki Burgman so my gas cap is low down between my feet. With the regular spout I could never get the gas into the tank before it was going all over the place. This is the first spout that I tried that fit perfectly with no seepage. Now it stays in the bag until I open the control valve. Makes the bag perfect!
Great video Ben. I just had a RotopaX 1 gallon jug leak on a trip from Cali to Montana. While nothing bad happened but not having the extra gallon of fuel really limited my pushing the range on my AT's tank. Also some of the fuel ran down between my camping gear dry bag and the aluminum plate it sits on. While no actual fuels seeped through the dry bag, there was a slight fuel smell that filtered through. Didn't really affect my sleeping stuff, but could have been a big deal. I think my next multi day trip I'll try one of these fuel bags....
This is great. Thank you. I will certainly buy one of these. Since you asked, I would love to see the different ways to mount the 1 gallon bag to a dirt bike which does not have a rack system on it. I ride by DB in the woods of VT. I do have a rear fender bag, (Klamath) mounted to rear fender. Thanks again.
not 100% on this so check my math... but the term fossil fuel may actually be a somewhat of a misnomer and many of the deposits of oil and natural gas could (I emphasize COULD) have been formed abiotically (w/o organic material) so the term hydrocarbon is just more accurate overall and encompasses a lot more... kind of like pronouns, they/them encompasses a lot more.
-Yes!, that is a long answer to a simple question. -I bought 1 gallon GL bags years ago, used it for first time this past weekend on my KTM 690, secured it on top of luggage rack with Rock straps, it leaked onto luggage, tent, etc. the 2nd day, I pitched it in aggravation.
I just used mine in Glamis this weekend, great product! Question: How do I go about storing the bag? Do I need to hang it outside for a few days with the cap off to let the bag dry out?
No, not necessarily. Only if you spill fuel on the bag on the outside and you can’t wash it off, definitely leave it outside, but you don’t have to service the inside.
I am looking at a very specific mount setup, hence the following question: Do the lengths listed in the dimensions include the handles, or just the "body of the bag?" I'd like a 2 gallon, but the length of 20.5 inches is pushing the max. If the handles make the overall length greater, then I'll have to settle for one or two 1 gallon bags. Thanks!
20.5 inches is the bag itself. Empty and with handles fully extended, it's 24 inches total. BUT the bag isn't as long when it's full because it poofs up in the middle which shrinks the overall length and the handles can easily be folded in to fit within the footprint of the bag.
HI I have a question that you partially covered in the video you said is fine to keep full for 1/2 week that's a lot more then I bought was ok I was thinking just 3-4 days ... and is a very welcome news I am planning to use it for long dual sport trip and I was thinking that I had to empty on a day by day use but is nice to know I can keep it as reserve for a bit more instead that would be very handy. my question is do you recommend to open the cap every now and then to avoid build up of pressure if I keep it inside for few days in hot summer condition or it will " stretch " a bit and is not needed? many thanks and very nice informative videos on your channel too
Yes definitely hold the bag upright and open the cap to vent pressure from time to time. The outer bag will prevent the inner bladder from expanding too much, but it's good to release the pressure occasionally.
Just curious about care after use. Should I rinse it out with water and hang to dry with the cap off or just leave the cap on, roll it up and store it. Which would be better to help preserve the inner bladder?
There's little to be done to preserve the inner plastics. Just store the bag in a dry and cool place if not used. Wash the exterior fabric with water and let it dry before storing it. In case of any problem with the bag, you can always contact our customer service. all our products have limited lifetime warranty.
I have 11.8L version and really happy with it. quick questions though. Am I suppose to "dry it out" after use? obviously there is always some petrol left behind after emptying the bag. Can I just leave it in there or do I need to leave the cap off? Second question: Can the bag be left outside? I assume the codura will experience UV degradation, but how would be bag hold up to being stored in a shaded/undercover area? Thanks

Hello, thanks for the great review. Let's say I get the 2 gallon bag. Is it ok if I half fill it and fold it before attaching it to the bike or is folding it while (even half) full not recommended? Thanks
The 1 gallon is usually more than enough for one person on a motorcycle. The 2 gallon is still ok for motorcycling, but it tends to become a tad too heavy. So if you are a solo rider, go for the 1 gallon and if there's 2 of you, go for the 2 gallons.
After using this bag for the a week long trip and emptying it per your recommendation, would the fuel residue left behind be considered the same as fuel left behind?
My guess is highly Not recommended to leave caps off fuel containers due to fire/explosion hazards, plus introduces opportunity for contaminents to enter.
Well, I had fuel in mine for a little over a week (yes I read the disclaimers) and had a catastrophic failure of the bag when driving. It started to gush out fuel through the seams while I was driving. Extremely messy on the side of the highway. Definitely NOT rated to be used for fuel at all (regular O87, ethanol free). I'm now extremely hesitant to ever buy one of these again and use it to carry any kind of fuel.
Hello! we are sorry to hear about your experience with our Armadillo. We have sold THOUSANDS of those and never had this kind of issue. Please feel free to reach out to our customer service. We offer limited lifetime warranty on our products.
Well done! I'm glad to know that I can use it as a kicker for jumping curbs or trees or doing mega dank nooners!
I wouldn't say that's exactly a "recommended" usage, but you do you, my man.

Ben I love seeing you on GL and Dork in the Road!! Great stuff always!!!!!
I thought he looked and sounded like "the Dork." Not just A dork, but THE Dork.
Just ordered one the other day. Can’t wait to try it out!
Just bought a 2 gallon & a 3 gallon from your website. Can’t wait to try them out on my next road trip.
You're gonna love them!

That was one of the most requested upgrades, which is why we added it to the new version!

Can you please tell me which size bag you had sitting on the table in the demo?
That's a 2 gallon.
I like how you say hydrocarbon fuel vs "fossil" fuel.

@adam346 trees fossilize too.
The question is, what is the rating for Degrees or Celcius for the bag with fuel?
-Yes!, that is a long answer to a simple question.

@@GiantLoopMoto Thank you. I appreciate your response.
I love my 1 gallon bag. I use it with the pronghorn and it works great...Thank you Ben!
Are the any issues with gas smell? With any material, I assume if you spill gas on the outer canvas bag, it would retain the smell.
It usually evaporates quickly, but the outer shell can be washed if need be.
So what's the best way to clean these if they get kinda gas stinky? Of course its gonna smell like gas....any recommendations?

Is the 1 gallon bag 1 gallon to the fill line or filled to max capacity?
We don't recommend filling past the fill line.
@@GiantLoopMotoi dont think thats what he was asking. Is the max fill line the one gallon mark? I’d like to know before selecting a size, thanks!
@@batterybuilding As per best practice, the 1 gallon volume is reached at the fill line.
Ben, thought you were going to say "Don't forget to be excellent to each other". Queue pinball game music!
Is the bag material compatible with E85 assuming not storing longer than the 1 week timeframe?
Yes but not recommended for long term storage.

How long are these expected to last?
We offer a lifetime warranty for a reason. They should last as long as you need them to.
Can you hang it from the handle for transport? Looking to hang one or two 5 gallon bags from a swing arm.
Yes but with the weight of 5 gallons of fuel the daisy chain loops would be the recommended hanging position.
I Am wondering if I should buy a 1 or 2 gallons bag, which one would you recomend the most

A little leftover is probably fine, but try to keep it as empty as possible.
@@GiantLoopMoto would leaving the lid off help evaporate the remaining fuel when not in use?
My guess is highly Not recommended to leave caps off fuel containers due to fire/explosion hazards, plus introduces opportunity for contaminents to enter.
PPLLLEEEEAAASSSEE make the zigzag handlebar bag in grey so I can match it to my other luggage!!!!
Hello, is thus puncture resistant? Let's can it hold a branch puncture?
We rode on top of it with a 4x4 multiple times, a dirtbike and hand it over to a bunch of kids to play with. It should hold a tree branch 😉
Does the armadillo come with the bag, or is that a separate purchase?
Once you buy the bag it begins to attract all the local Armadillos. That way they continue to live in their natural area.
to be perfect the only thing it is missing is for the spout pouch to be dust proof
Good point. We ll investigate on that.
Does the bag have a venting system?
The bag is completely sealed.

Does need to be burped?
Yes it will occasionally need to be burped.
Will the U.S.A. border guards allow me to ride across the border into the U.S.A. with one of these strapped to my bike?
Can't say for sure...but they're generally looking for contraband and not super interested in non-EPA fuel containers.
Product disclaimer. Can't be used for anything we would use it for.🤔
