A of all, your thumbnail is adorable. B, love this topic and that you have a degree in it. C, I took up cross stitch in Jan 2021 and it has been helping me to stay grounded. I love to make pieces to give friends, especially ones who live far from me.
I really love this idea. I craft all the time and you're very right, it puts us in touch with ourselves and each other and the relationships we have to each other via commerce and craft. :) Also I too have a zombie apocalypse plan... we should talk ;)
I've been crafting since I left formal education. I felt like I was missing something when I didn't have that specific, compulsory period of time to get creative. Many years later, and I'm still just as passionate. I have a lot of crafting/ art-ish hobbies. My main one is cross stitching, I love it and am constantly designing or stitching a new hoop or design. And as my skills grew, I graduated from cross stitch kits, to creating my own, unique designs, and my room is full of them, and I feel so proud to look at this beautiful, unique item I created, and know there is nothing else like it in the world! I also do embroidery, painting, friendship bracelets, other jewellery making, making bookmarks, paper decorations, origami decorations, key chains, and make tote bags. I love getting crafty, and it's my favourite activity to do in my down time or to wind down after a long day. And it doesn't matter how old I get, presenting my mum or sister with a new bracelet or tote bag, I still feel so proud of my creation! I have a corporate office, 9-5 job, which I love! But it probably explains my need to get creative on evenings and weekends! 😅 I don't sell any of my crafts either, I'm too sentimental for that 😅
I love this! I'm a crafter (not a knitter or crocheter as I haven't mastered either skill yet, lol), and creating something unique and personal is really fulfilling. I also agree that it makes you wonder where everything is made and who made it. For example, a machine can not crochet. And it is mind-blowing to realise that every single crochet item on Earth is hand-made. That a soulless machine didn't create a million carbon copies, but a real person created it, crocheted it, and that person is out there.
Yeah, I think it's so cool that machines can't crochet! I didn't find that out until recently, and it's wild to think about what manufacturing machines can't do.
Well... I could say a lot of things... but I will congratulate you on coming up with one of the least bloodthirsty definitions of Marxism I've ever heard! Keep it up!
Well, thank you! Interestingly enough, a lot of what's considered "Marxism" doesn't actually come from Marx because of historical shenanigans and misnomers lol
Crafting is S Joe with 10k sub and < than 1k views; Capitalism is some other random babe with 1M sub and 100k+ views, so where is the Antidote? or should I ask what is the Antidote? You are who you are, but I mean number doesn't matter, but let's be real, what is the point?
I knit and crochet too, and there’s something really special about finishing a project and knowing that YOU did that.
Heck yes! That's so cool that you do both, I want to learn to crochet someday but want to focus on one thing at a time lol

Thank you! And that's awesome, I'm so glad you're able to do that, and I bet your friends adore those gifts

We should absolutely talk lol

the things we make are the story of us. what a world it could be if we could share those stories with one another

Some people ARE fully developed as 'just a shoemaker'
Because of the way inflection could make this have different meanings, I'm not sure what you're saying by this. Could you clarify? Thanks!

You’ll never be famous
