Daryl's the best of all of them now. He has Shane's practicality but also has (old) Rick's conscience. He isn't a psychopath. When he gets angry, it's out of love for Merle, Carol, Beth etc.This show is largely about "good" people becoming bad and/or getting slaughtered, but Daryl is different. He started out bad and the ZA has allowed him to become a better person. That's why he's the best. Other people were only "good" because they had never been truly tested and when they were they fell apart. Daryl's been on both sides of the fence and has chosen to become a good person. He inspires me honestly. That's also why I have no real desire to read the comics. Without Daryl, it's just hopeless blah blah blah everything dies blah blah blah we are the walking dead. We ain't them.

thing is daryl was always a better man than shane will ever be,rick got very emotionally troubled and went though ptsd with his losses but he came back in the end respecting life in general.Daryl with the hard childhood he had always was a man of honor with his own style and way,he also was abused as a child.Yeah shane is a badboy with some good intentions here and there and i like him as a character.

What truly make me adore this guy is that he is the most straight forward type of a guy in this show. And when he say things, you know its gonna stab you with the truth no doubt. He was abused when he was a kid and live on his own pretty much, he learned so much surviving by himself without any love at all. These what makes him so hard at the beginning of the season. Until he found these group of people where the soft part of him was brought out. And now his experience and his skills; he now use to protect these people because he knows deep inside him, they are important where the love of a family he finally found. And all these women loves him not only because he is a good looking guy, but in real life; this guy is an awesome person and funny guy. He can make u laugh and also a fact that he is such a sweetheart. WOMEN will always find something from him that he will make them fall in love; may it be in show, movie and reality. GOD BLESS THIS GUY.

Norman Reedus said in an interview that Daryl had been abandoned by his family at a young age and the fact that Sophia is out in the woods by herself struck a chord in him about that childhood. He also said that they had covered him in fake scars but never explained that he had an abusive father. He probably knew that Sophia's dad was an ass and that also reminded him of his childhood.

Daryl may not act like it but he's one of the smartest characters in the entire show. He knows exactly how to deal with a tough situation. He plays a significant role in keeping the team safe. If Rick wasn't there, Daryl is the only liable option for leader. He shouldn't be killed off anytime soon. His time is coming, remember, his brother is still alive and will make an appearance in Season 3. The story will revolve around him a lot more after that happens.

I loved it when he called Lori 'Olive Oyl'! Daryl was one of the very few characters on this show who called it like it was when it came to Lori's mind games.
Daryl is a fucking warrior and a true survivor. Not everyone in the group could find themselves on the same page as Daryl, but imo, I think that comes from him being more aggressive than most of them. He is quick to make decisions (speaks his mind through his actions), one hell of a shot (does he ever miss?), and has a lot of good qualities that make him a strong, respectable character (determined to find Sophia). This guy is no ones bitch! I hope they don't kill him off. He's a good character.

Back when Daryl was an amazing, independent, unpredictable character, not this super ultra unstoppable badass he is today. I miss the season 1&2 Daryl. Sure he cares about his group, but despite the group loving Daryl and vise versa; he will always be a lone wolf in my eyes.
