These walk-throughs are fascinating and educational. Anyone who can play this bass line and sing over it deserves some kind of lifetime achievement award! Please keep the videos coming.
You all put on a phenomenal show at Des Plaines Theatre last Friday here in IL. Turn the Page sounded great, and the crowd loved it Sean. Please come back again sometime!
Geddy's multitasking on this particular song always impressed me, but more so after your analysis. Thank you for validating the greatness of Rush. That was an outstanding technical display. Bravo!
Just saw Geddy last evening in Philly at his book tour talk. He mentioned the Anarchist as one of the hardest songs for him to play and sing to. He said he had to play the bass parts over and over until he didn't have to think about it while playing and singing live
Great video Sean. I really enjoyed it. I’m just a garage bass player. Would love to see a little breakdown of the beginning of YYZ when it breaks down into the solo parts.
Thanks for this! It's so apparent that Geddy and all of Rush are always on another level. Would love to hear you breakdown any song, but I am curious about Misson as well as your thoughts on the instrumentals Where's My Thing, Limbo and The Main Monkey Business. Thank you for what you do!!!
Dude, That was a Fantastic explanation of this song, I have tried to learn this one a few time only to just get confused at what he is really doing, this defiantly helps, Maybe I'll give it another shot. Great Job Man. Absolutely one of my Favorite songs, when this Album came out the tape was just on repeat in my car for weeks. Love it, thank you.....
Definitely a favorite, though I have to nitpick. Neil is definitely playing the verse in 6, almost mimicking Geddy’s bass rhythm. The kick hits on beat 1 along with the bass downbeat, with all other times on the upbeats starting after beat 2. That said, the vocal and bass interplay is bonkers on this song. I’m fully convinced Geddy has two brains. PS - When’s game night?
"People think you can multi task you can't multi task.." um, Geddy Did it... and as An instructor Pilot, we do it, and as a teacher knows, they DEFINITELY DO IT. and actually many musicians (beside Geddy Do it). So yes, disagree, and say YES it can be done.
I get a whole new appreciation for these songs seeing them broken down like this! Thanks, Sean!

You did well. That's why geddy is the pinnacle summit of performance and musicianship as all 3 are.

Did not really know the complexity of that song. Thanks for sharing. These are really great to watch
continue to amaze this old guy...
I am enjoying these videos, yes... but I can't wait until y'all are playing live again!
Love this video series!

Incredible breakdown. Thank you so much. :)
Nothing short of amazing! Thanks for showing me how to play this Sean!
I didnt know this song. Thanks for showing me.
Yeah, when I saw the tablature for this one I "turned the page"...
This is a hard song to play in time on bass. It was a challenge to learn back in my youth.

See you in the WB on Saturday. How about what is your favorite / most fun song to play live and why?
We get asked that a lot, and it changes depending on what we're working on at the time 😄
Great video Sean! Thanks! Is that a real Wal or a Wal tribute?
It is a custom Octave Bass. Same basic specs as a Wal Mk 2.
Where can I purchase one?? I've always wanted a Wal! Great video.
