I remember randomly searching (making of game videos) without knowing there was a making of Legacy of goku 2 and feeling like i hit the jackpot when I found this. I really appreciate stuff like this, saddens me I feel like a minority.
@@sunkintree The first one they played it almost too safe. They stuck to a lot of traditional RPG tropes. By the second one not only were the mechanics and graphics improved but they were better at blending DBZ with the RPG padding. As an example the part in 2 where you have to blow up the three generators feels a lot more natural and 'DBZ' like than the part in 1 where you have to go through the random temple.
@@immortallix They were on a tight budget with the first game which is why it felt cheap and low quality but thanks to that game selling so well they end up getting a bigger earnings back from it that they use that money to improve the sequel thus LOG2 and Buu's Fury happen. I'm glad they made major improvements on those two games instead of just making it more like the first one.
Swear these handful of people will never know how much happiness they brought to my childhood fingers with the god tier game. And years later inspired me to make an RPG of my own very similar to LOG 2 and also "What If LOG 4 (DBS)" videos in the style of this game on my youtube channel. Lol Gods, man. Gods
I wish some gaming company re-released all LoG games in a bundle, with updated graphics and quality of life improvements, especially for the first one.
I wonder where these devs are now. I never played this game but these people just seem so extremely normal and competent compared to so many of today's studios.
Game development vids like this are honestly really cool, and make me want to go back into learning how to do sprite and pixel art I honestly wish there was a similar behind-the-scenes video to games like Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, but Japanese companies apparently like to keep their developments a secret/under wraps. A shame really
I like that they compressed all the sagas into 3 since the entire Cell arc had ten sagas: 1. Mecha Frieza Saga (before Trunks arrive) 2. Trunks Saga (when Trunks fought Frieza and King Cold) 3. Dr. Gero Saga (when the Z fighters fought Android 19 and 20) 4. Androids Saga (when Androids 16, 17, and 18 debut) 5. Super Namek Piccolo Saga (when Piccolo fused with Kami) 6. Imperfect Cell Saga (when Cell debut) 7. Semi-Perfect Cell Saga (when Cell absorb Android 17) 8. Perfect Cell Saga (when Cell absorb Android 18) 9. Teen Gohan Saga (when Gohan fought Cell) 10. Super Perfect Cell Saga (when Cell returns from the dead) BONUS: History of Trunks Saga (before Trunks got knock cold by Future Gohan and when Trunks return to kill Future Android 17, 18, and Imperfect Cell)
@@immortallix Yea just no reason to anymore it's a shame this style was so amazing legacy of goku 1 was pretty rough but 2 they figured it out and buu's fury was excellent too but this video made me appreciate the work behind them even more
The first game came out in 2000 so they were starting to figure out how the gba worked, for the sequel they had more knowledge and obviously more budget.
Hey, are they emulating the debug ROM on VirtualBoyAdvance? I can't read the program name that well because of the video quality but that's what it looks like. Wow...
Os caras são muitos bons, parabéns por terem criado tal game, um dos meus favoritos. Mesmo com limitações na época conseguiram desenvolver muito bem. No aguardo que novos programadores continuem os remakes.
Does ANYONE happen to know what they used to make the music for Legacy of Goku 2? That game along with Taiketsu, Buu's Fury and GT Transformation's music is extremely good and I've always wondered what exact instrument they used to put together the music for all of these games.
It was included as an extra on the original U.S. DVD release of Movie 8 (Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan) that was released in August 2003. I believe it was also released online around the same time on certain gaming-related websites, ie IGN or GameSpot.
While much better than the first game, it's kinda plagued with nostalgia-blinded fans. Kinda. Still wayyyyyy better than the crappy first game. Nice documentary.
It's a shame the game before it wasn't as good. Can't judge Buu's Fury as I haven't played it but the first Legacy of Goku was just terrible. This game on the other hand is one of my top GBA games!
Buu's fury pretty much takes this one's formula and improves on some things, but also makes some missteps. I think I prefer LoG2 overall, but Buu's Fury is just as fun if not moreso.
Some of the most legendary sprites of all time
This game is absolutely incredible. Might be in my top 10 all-time. Considering even console platforms.
Agreed
it was a lot of fun to play back when it was new. I'm glad i didn't miss out.
but this is console platform
It is for me. Top 3. Lmao
Kingdom Hearts 2
Uncharted 2
Legacy of Goku 2
My top 3 games of all time. Why are the sequels always bangers?
@@Shamy_Cartoons Don‘t forget Brink 2: Day of the Brinking
Don't mind me, just taking some notes:
3:23 Pro-Motion v1.7 (presumably from LambSoft)
5:57 Adobe Photoshop
7:28 VisualBoyAdvance
17:03 Impulse Tracker (shown and mentioned) (version unknown)
17:54 Sound Forge (mentioned)
@urbanyouths very, very common for gba games.

WE are a minority sadly
It was a really good game. Someone online is remaking the entire trilogy into a single game and the results thus far are promising.
+GoldStorm07 are there any vids or demos of it I can see?
+Lord Immortallix It's on UA-cam. Search Nachorl250 and you'll see the WIP.
did you know webfot are considering to make a legacy of goku 4
+sektor mk Would very much like a source for this.

I remember watching this as a kid, so surprised it's not lost media and I was able to easily find it lmao
I myself thought this was a weird fever dream I had, luckily I was able to find my DVD
Which DVD? I remember seeing this on a Dragon Ball DVD too as a kid but I forgot which one
@@mechaocean170 the og DVD release of Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan
The amount of improvement from Legacy of Goku 1 to Legacy of Goku 2 is just staggering!
Honestly feels like a completely different studio made them, even though that wasn't the case

Thanks I was curious how one wouldnt of seen this back in the day.

i will never forget about this game. i’m so glad to find out other people have played it and love it just as much as i do!
It's pretty underrated and overlooked when you see youtubers talking about RPG greats
I wish some gaming company re-released all LoG games in a bundle, with updated graphics and quality of life improvements, especially for the first one.
I never knew there was a behind the scenes making for Legacy of Goku 2
It was one of the bonus features on the DVD for the old Broly movie for some reason. Pleasant surprise nonetheless
This game is so good I still play it today
The amount of detail and hard work was clear in these games which is why they hit nostalgic

Amazing, im happy to have all of the legacy of goku games in my gba collection.
thank you for uploading this...this game was such a huge part of my childhood
Why didn’t the first Legacy of Goku get this much dedication into it
The budget 😅

Yup seems to be
They probably had access to a GBA dev box. Just a GBA that connects to a PC. Probably the black box on the PC

Livian Vargas probably an unfinished version
