Breguet x FRIEZE NEW YORK 2024

During Frieze New York, independent curator Jenn Ellis presented the compelling work of Dawn Ng Through a meticulous process, Dawn constructed 60-kilogram blocks of ice enriched with pigments, watercolors, acrylics, and dyes. The layered formations echo our planet's topography, where geological time is visible through ancient formations shaped by gravitational forces.
Influenced by the art of horology, Dawn's pieces reflect the profound effects of natural forces, crucial in the history of watchmaking. This thematic exploration was showcased in a unique performance last Thursday.
The one-time live vocal piece “Into Air” was unveiled. Curated by Jenn Ellis and composed by Alex Mills, this performance featured a choral meditation by five singers, each harmonizing with the flow of their breath. Like the shifting pigments in Dawn's work, the musical patterns dynamically built up and then dissolved, reflecting processes of transformation and evanescence.
