Give me your thoughts, is the GSX8S truly an MT07 killer or do I got no no-ledge?
10-sh HP, TC, slipper clutch aka The Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) seem like the biggest upgrades over the MT07, course MT07 has the clout, the established presence and low weight. Modes etc. seems attractive to the "grow into it crowd" which is another topic. And the TFT for "blue light addicts". That Honda 750 Hornet though...
The weight seems high. I think Honda has done a better job with the new Hornet.
Cannot ignore the Hornet UK price £6,999 which is £500 less than the Yamaha (2023) - still no price on the Suzuki, although rumoured to be higher than both.
It would be if it was lighter
I don't think it will de-throne the MT-07. An older MT bought with mods is a better financial option. You also get the CP-2 sound. I think if I shopped around, I could make the MT--07 just as much if not more bike than the GSX8S. Take it with a grain of salt, though. I don't even have a bike. I'm just a broke keyboard warrior.
This truely has become my favorite motorcycle channel on the tube! Hope you hit 100k by December. Keep up the excellent work Spite!
Amen to that!
Fallout memes and solid motorcycle journalism? Yeah, that's a sub.
"Awe true to Ceasar"

This bike needs to be priced under 9k otherwise it is in mt-09 pricing territory. I believe Honda is wise to this with it's aggressive pricing of the Hornet 750.
The hornet is a bargain
Lol imagine the fool who would buy gx8s over a mt09 😂🤣🤡
I recently got my first bike which is an MT-07. I love it and am thankful to you Spite and other Moto-tubers. For convincing me to "Get the bike." I have put 1,000 miles on the bike already in only the 1.5 months I have had it. Already looking at the next bike haha!
I’m happy Suzuki is finally getting in to updating their bikes. I’m also glad they are putting out a 270 crank on their P Twin. All of this is good for the consumer, because it drives competition (Kawasaki) to put out better products. I’d like to see the competition (Kawasaki) put out some similar products.
So glad to see Spite's channel is doing well. Personally not the content I watch, but it's always nice to see good people succeed.
u want it suqqdd, or nah?
@@tibettenballs4962 nah?

Thanks for adding metric units to the specs, as an European, I really appreciate this 💪 you are awesome Spite
smart choice on the 270 crank will sound and already looks dope imo.
Means? Crank will sound... which bike??
@@lokeshdeshwal5288 270 crank will sound like a Ducati, if it were a 180 crank it would sound like a 300 Ninja
The Suzuki looks better than anything else currently available in this class and it might be enough to become successful
More features and power than 99% of the competition and it comes with a GOOD quick shifter stock. 270° twin with plenty of tuning potential knowing Suzuki and how they factory limit their motors with software. It'll kill in sales and I'm pumped to ride one.
its mt-09 money and that has 1 cilinder more and an aluminium frame instead of steel.
@@tubejorrit yeah I agree it needs to come in under 9000 for it to do well I think, at 9500or 10000 I would get the Mt 09 forsure it has great tech/power and suspension the mt09 is at least on paper quite a bit more of a bike
my take on the GSX8S (this one's long so please stick with me):
First, let's look at the comparable specs on the competing motorcycles mentioned in the video:
Displacement (bore x stroke - in mm):
CB750 Hornet - 755cc (87 x 63.5)
MT-07 - 689cc (80 x 68.6)
Z650 - 649cc (83 x 60.0)
GSX8S - 776cc (84 x 70.0)
890 Duke - 889cc (90.7 x 68.8)
HP/lb-ft TQ (at RPM)
CB750 Hornet - 90.5 @9,500 / 55.3 @7250
MT-07 - 72 @ 8,750 / 49 @ 6,500
Z650 - 67 @8000 / 48.5 @ 6,500
GSX8S - 82 @ 8,500 / 57.5 @ 6,800
890 Duke - 121 @ 9,500 / 73 @ 7,000
Claimed wet weight (lbs/kg):
CB750 Hornet - 419/190
MT-07 - 406/184
Z650 - 412/187
GSX8S - 445/202
890 Duke - 405/184
Price (USD):

Seat Height (in/cm):
Cb750 Hornet - 31.3/79.5
MT-07 - 31.7/80.5
Z650 - 31.1/79
GSX8S - 31.9/81

Notable features (adjustable suspension, electronics suites, etc.)
CB750 Hornet - Quickshifter, TFT dash, throttle-by-wire, Showa 41mm non-adj. forks, Pro-link Monoshock rear (preload adj. only), ABS, TC
MT-07 - KYB fork, KYB Cantilever monoshock (rebound & preload adj.), ABS, TFT dash, optional quickshifter
Z650 - 41mm non-adj fork, monoshock (preload adj), TFT dash, ABS, TC, throttle-by-wire
GSX8S - Throttle-by-wire, ABS, TC, Rider modes, quickshifter, TFT Dash KYB fork, KYB monoshock (preload adj)
Duke 890 - Fully adjustable WP 43mm front forks, fully adjustable WP-APEX monoshock, ABS, Lean-sensitive TC, TFT Dash, Throttle-by-wire, quickshifter
Verdict:
Having the longest piston stroke from the entire range allows the GSX to make the 2nd most torque in the range, only bested by the Duke 890, in which that bike has an additional 113cc over the GSX. Therefore, it has the second least oversquare engine layout among its peers, coming in at a ratio of 1.2:1 bore/stroke (only the MT-07 is more square at a ratio of 1.17:1). The main problem in this analysis is the lack of dyno graphs for comparison, because peak numbers only give a hint of the story. Average numbers (and thus area underneath the curves) tells us a lot more. My expectation would be that this is priced slightly higher than the rest of its competition (with exception to the duke, of course) based primarily on the amount of features that come with the off-the shelf package. In this case, you are getting quite a lot, especially when compared to the z650 and the MT07. In fact the key differences between the GSX8S and the Duke 890 are thus: less-adjustable suspension, less displacement, less power production, and higher weight. If Suzuki were to make a sport or track package for this bike with revisions targeting these specific areas, it's reasonable to think that it would be priced similarly, albeit slightly undercutting the duke 890 (40 HP and 16 ft-lb are not easy to make up without displacement increase, significant head work or major oil system design overhaul).
With that said, consider this: designing and engineering a high-RPM track-biased engine takes significantly more time, effort, testing and revisions than does making a reasonable street engine. Based on the currently known engine specs, along with Suzuki's traditional design philosophy, the GSX8S looks to be more of a mid-range punch expert than an all-out street engine who's overly rev-happy. Granted, there are steps that can be taken to significantly improve the bike, but those can easily be left to the end user if need be. And if Suzuki's reputation of leaving extra performance on the table (most often easily within reach for the end user), then these are just the stock baseline numbers, and can be vastly improved on if so desired.
Point being: I'd much rather have an engine overdesigned with significant over-margin for safe operation rather than a bleeding-edge powerplant with barely any room to improve or modify to my personal taste. Aftermarket exhaust? Well, there goes at least 10 lbs off the frame, if not more. Lightweight Fastener replacements? Well, there's another 4-5 lbs gone. And on and on into obscurity if you wish. But that's not the point for the vast majority of riders, where emphasis is primarily on riding and enjoying your bike rather than chasing tenths. I get it. I don't go down that route if I don't have to.
But consider this: my 2012 Monster 1100 EVO weighs nearly 30 lbs more than my ZX-6R, but feels significantly more nimble, and is far more comfortable to ride for anything longer than 30 minutes. Ergonomics, sound chassis geometry and build quality often win the day for the daily rider. Yes, the GSX8S could easily be less massive than it is, but as far as I can tell, this bike's design has an emphasis based more on longevity than outright performance. And that can easily become its own merit in time.
The 890 is more of an MT09 / Street Triple / Z900 rival.
Does KTM still make the 790 ? I know CF Moto is making a bike using the 790 motor with around 95 hp.
@@Daniel-gb9ex main reason why I used it is because Spite mentioned it in the video. I just used the examples he gave.
KTM is back to making the Duke 790 at a pretty low MSRP.

I was pleasantly surprised by this announcement from the Legend that is Suzuki. Gives me hope they´ll thrive during the next few years.
I really hope they start to do interesting bikes again the gs8 is a great start

I like what you are doing spite, keep it up 👍
Yamaha and Suzuki are my favourite two J-makes. I've had several of both marques. I like the mirrors on your loaner-T7. And the non-TFT lengthways dash.
The GSX looks loads better than the Hornet to me.
A far more thoughtful review than the others which tend to just read off a spec sheet. I like your format, too: a rider riding when talking. Glad I found the channel.
Beautiful view and solid commentary as always. I'm interested to see what the final pricing on the Suzuki is. Might be tough to compete with the MT-07 if the price point isn't razor sharp. In either event, it should be a ton of fun to ride! Looking forward to the next video 👍
Content is great, keep it up. Have to see how well it pulls the front tire up to see if it competes with the MT
It’s a good looking bike, however, if I was interested in the GSX-S, I’m going with the 750 over P twin. However, if I did stunts, this would be a great new option.
I'm thinking the GSX-S750 is going to get replaced by this new bike.
@@spartanx169x I bought a 22 s750 this year. Super glad I got it bc I think you're right. I suspect this is meant to replace it and I love an i4. The 270 ptwins are great, but not what I want at all.
*adding credence to the theory they've released all the other bikes 23 models on their site except the s750.
@spartanx169x 169of300 I agree, but it’s the signs of the times. P twins are cheaper to manufacture and make a lot of sense for many riders. I’m certain it’ll be a great bike. However, for exhaust notes, I4 screamers are my preference.
@Mancer187 Sweet ride! Like a Gixxer, just more comfortable. Keep the rubber side down.
0mitted in the list of tech, is the The Suzuki Low-RPM-Assist, while the auto-blipper/quickshifter/ TFT/TC/modes/ABS are great; However, the Low-RPM-Assist is unique and for the stall-shy rider could be a "game changer"
I think Ktm already has low rpm assist on some models
Thank you for also showing the metric system! This way i can understand the stats!

That Bike looks awesome, and the tec is really interesting. Cant wait to see this bike here in germany :-)
I love how you and Yammie Noob had literal opposite reactions to this bike! It really shows how good your chemistry could be when working with Eric.
Yammie Noob is a douchebag tool. Spite is much better off without him. YN is actually worse off without him, proof? Look at the views of YN since Spite left. They have mostly been terrible when comparing to before Spite left. The only thing YN was good at was hurling insults at everything that was not perfect FOR HIM. In a couple of years Spites channel will far exceed YN in terms of subscribers.
yammie went for the hot take clickbait right away. His review wasn't all that bad other than complaining about all the inline twins out there.
Who's yammie noob? 🤣
But he still hates Honda
@@mrEz87 is that why he bought the cbr1000rr-r sp fireblade?😂
Maybe he bought it to bash about the ergos and the name all the time, who knows🤷🏻♂️
He took some damage at the time he fired spite, but now it seems to me that he regained some of the reputation by making videos that new bike riders appreciate.
I definetly prefer spite's way of bringing up content, but find myself slip into some stuff that yammie touches on too.

I like how weird this bike looks.
@@californiapoontappa 40lbs more and only 10hp more. In the AUS market, it’s priced similarly to a GSXS-1000. The Hornet is supposed to be priced better, right around an MT-07 and adds an extra 20hp over the MT.
This is pretty random and unrelated to the video, but I think you could host an awesome motorcycle podcast. You have the voice for it imo, I've listened to your content for hours before
MT-07 has one other major advantage to the GSX8S, which is being A LOT lighter, at 406 LBS wet, which is basically 40 pounds lighter. The price difference I reckon is also going to be a huge factor and the difference might be much bigger, as the GSX8S is also using an upside-down fork while the MT is still using the cheaper normal fork, to save costs. This fork also makes the MT feel more flickable, even though it actually makes it handle worse on twisties, but the buyers of these bikes will rarely have the skills to notice anything else other than flickability.
I have been excited to hear your opinion on this bike. Im commenting before finishing the video lol
The opening joke about Ceasars legion is perfect! Best Fallout, don't @ me.
This is accurate
I don’t know…”death blow” might be kinda extreme, lol! Great video.
The only death blow it has, is it’s own price. Almost the same price that killed the cbr650r ....yep 9600 usd.
only a matter of time before you hit a million with content and quality like this
The most important thing for this to be successful is the price, if it’s cheaper than the hornet, mt07, trident then it will sell like hotcakes
Personally i'm looking forward to the Hornet with a little more power, the GSX8S looks like a love child between MT and their GSXS line for sure and one of the better looking cyborg bikes.
The mt-07 has a few things on this one. It's easier to ride, known for being fun, lighter and has an established look and feel. Even if tthe gsx8s were cheaper and the look/feel sticks it's still difficult to 'kill' such' a bike since, in my opinion, the mt-07 is THE bike that defines its category. I think the market has a lot of room to keep evey bike 'alive'. Cb650r , Sv650, Mt-07, street triple and the list goes on of amazing 600-800 cc nakeds
What do you think about the GSX-8S vs the SV650?

From the time I saw the specs of the 8S if I was about to get a street bike I'd definitely choose the 8S over the MT07. Suzuki really hit the spot with the features on this bike compared to the competition imo.

Spite don't forget the cruiser bois, it's a huge segment of the US market. Metric, Euro and Indian cruisers are underrepresented on UA-cam, plenty of HD channels.
Sweet video! Sounds like no killer has arrived yet, but they are knocking on the door.
@Spite's Corner is the previous comment you? Or a scammer?
I see the GSX8s definitely replacing the GSX750 and possibly the SV650. I cannot see suzuki having multiple models so close in power and capability in the same category. The GSX750 is old and in need of an update, same with the SV. I don't see them keeping around 750 inline 4 with the current emission regulations and the ever increasing cost of manufacturing. If they keep the SV650, it will be a parallel twin that's fairly de-tuned and will make around 60ish hp IMO
Hope u get to a milli spite
Waiting for the "XSR" version.... there must be a neo-retro-styled version in the future.
I think the reason why it doesn't have more power is because they can't have it making more than the gsxs-950. But if you look at the compression ratio and Suzuki's known for restricting their bikes with the secondary throttle valve I think after full exhaust in a tune it'll make quite a bit.
Both the Suzuki and the Honda seems to looked at KTM Duke 790/890.
Now it's just to chose between performance or reliability. Austria vs Japan.
from a psychological perspective and sales too it makes sense to make and offer less than 100hp motorcycles because there is need for them at any range, keeping everything up to maximal possible power per generation makes market more singular so it cheaper to make more alternatives for making more money
i just want to say, i totally got the Ceasers Legion comment. Love that game...
Love the New Vegas reference.
Hopefully we see some in dealers this year.
In my area anyway the only bikes in dealers are harley davidsons and royal enfields.
I want an adrenaline rush bike.
Up here in Maine that’s all you can find is Harleys
Suzuki confirmed they will not drop the SV650, at least not for 2023 here in Europe. This bike should cost somewhere between 8000 ~ 8500€, above that it's really MT 09 territory and imho, if they slap the 5" dash from the 2023 MT 07 on the 09 that would be a no brainer.
On paper it looks like a decent bike although I'm a bit disappointed that it weighs in at 200kg wet.
Your right. And apparently the SV 650 has been selling well recently in Germany I was just reading.
Looks like you're out at Kodachrome trail/Lava Butte trail area.

If you paint the GSX8S orange, it is almost the same as the KTM Duke.
Suzuki completely robbed KTM’s design!
LOL @ the Ceasars Legion reference for Vegas
The Hornet looks great, but I was expecting 15-20 more horsepower. It keeps all the Big 4 bikes squarely in the welterweight category and keeps the Street Triple firmly atop the middleweight class.
Most promising parallel twin forsure! Better looking than the new Hornet aswell. I hope it has a 180 size rear tire aswell
yeah merely better looking with 10kgs heavier weight and 10 less HP. and probablly 1k more expensive.
I had my heart set on a ktm890 until i took a test ride, it had no bottom end torque compared to my previous ride (bmw f800r) and was more akin to thrashing a 600 supersport.... I decided on buying another f800r - what is interesting though os that tje Suzukis spec closely mirror that of the old bmw f800, which isn't a bad thing in my opinion
It has a 180 tire 😎 its a beefy bike, the weight is to high tho...
I wish you success. Within the first minute, I clicked away. I came back to help you out. Le. Take it or leave it
I am likeing the Tenere more than the gs . The tenere is goinng down the road very nice and did the dirty well
Is the Trident 660 not worth comparing with the 8S?
I forgot it exists tbh. It's not my favorite motorcycle. Also I'm dumb
I thought that ride looked familiar... looks like you're in my neck of the woods.
I think the hornet is going to give the MT07 a run for its money, however I personally go for the styling of the trident over all of them. seated position is important to me and all of these class bikes have a small over the bar lean to them.
Love the fallout reference! 😁
More than bold new graphics from Suzuki Hallelujah
Not really familiar with different shifters but are the mechanical, hydraulic or electronic assistance
Why do you think the 270 degree crank is better than 180?? I understand it in the big bikes with huge power to assist with rear wheel traction. But why on these beginner budget bikes?? Would love to hear your reasoning. I’m die hard yamaha and wish they would go back to the 180 degree crank R1. I just love the sound, it’s lighter, and I just love aggressive power. But I’m not sure if maybe the crossplane design makes more torque?? Or not??
Fallout New Vegas reference right off the bat! Gotta love it.
We don't even know if Honda will sell the Hornet in the USA.
Spite i know your a music guy. Is that you playing in the beginning of this video?
Awesome seeing spite on a t7 though.
Ummm… don’t forget Triumph has the Street Triple 765. Throw it into the mix and I think it’d smack down everything else for the title of Middleweight Naked King. It’s a beautiful bike or ugly as sin though. There’s no middle ground with the headlight configuration but the performance of the Street Triple bikes is amazing.
Street Triple is more of a "middle weight plus", like the MT09 and Z900.
Triumph's competitor to this would be the Trident 660 imo.
Great motorcycle channel
I think Suzuki is doing good stuff! MSRP is the big question, I feel like they gotta be cheaper than others. I really like the GSX-S1000 GT they brought out last year, ya it’s based on an old motor but it’s a new model.
I’m a bit disappointed that it only makes about 5 hp more despite having an additional 125cc over the SV.
Hey man, hope you're bending those knees when standing off road!! Tall guys get painful knees very easily, keep it safe! 💪
Best part, is they still wont update the DRZ to add fuel injection.
And an extra gear.
Well if they do it'll cost as much as the gsxs
Oh man… Just when I was soon to jump the gun and pick up a MT07 suzuki comes out with this!
I'm so glad the US doesn't force us to have training wheels. The less government the better. It's almost like we have to educate ourselves and have self control without a nanny...
Double points for the Fallout New Vegas intro :D
Its going to come down to pricing and ergonomics, its beating the MT07 in power but its competing with the MT09 in features and it's heavier than both bikes. So unless it is priced right the MT09 might be more of a threat to it than it will be to the MT07. also once you factor in other manufacturers its probably going to be relying on "brand loyalty" and heavier riders that won't notice the extra weight as much as the extra power.
What about the Triumph Trident? How do you think it would compare?
Personally I would choose the 8s over the trident if they are the same price. Dealer network, parts, price, aftermarket support and looks ... but they aren’t the same price, the 8s is more than a z900 and gsxs750- its mt-09 money.....
