    Woohoo your working on a rare pump now. Awesome details and slow mo , thanks for such a great video. Interesting. I've rarely had issues with these type pumps. Like you Said they interals are made of metals. I'm sure you will have pressure at the injectors now. Clean the injector nozzles too make a full alround service.
    Have a good day

    Wow, you left us hanging here. I'd hoped to see the tractor running. It looks like you've probably finally found out what was wrong. Am looking forward to the next video.

      Ha, sorry! It's so much content. And this video is longer than my usual, but there will have to be one more segment. This 17 min video took around 12 hours to upload because our Internet connection is meager. Thanks!

    Good job on finding the clogged tube. That tube should see from about 20 PSI to about 100 PSI depending on the RPM. That's the same pressure that moves the timing advance piston. The RPM governor is actually in the high pressure section. The enrichment/shutoff spool is the moving part of the governor. Make sure the spring is in good condition and the shaft is free moving when sliding in and out while rotating. This is why these pumps are very funny about trash in the fuel. Great video and good luck!

      Wow, thanks so much, Dave. I've been wondering what could be acting so funny about the pump because it used to run but smoke a lot now it seems to have no fuel delivery to injectors. And sneak peak, when I finished putting it all together as in these videos it run really fast with no response to throttle! I'll check the movement of the start/kill spool. Thank you!

      Mine did the same when I first put the pump together. It would run at a fast idle, not to be confused with running away (search "runaway diesel"). It might run at a fast idle for a minute or 3 and then settle down. It might run for another 1/2 hour then idle high again. It settled out after a few hours of use.

      hi mate do you know where the fuel adjustment screw is?

    • @TD-go8iz
      @TD-go8iz Рік тому

      @@teridunford7299 to my knowledge there is no fuel adjustment screw only the idle speed adjustment. The throttle is a fuel adjustment mechanism since the air intake is always wide open.

    How can I tell what position to reinstall the throttle and shut off levers to the spools? Im working on a VA3 pump but they are similar for the most part.

    Do you know which way the notches on the throttle shafts should point? Machine i bought had the levers off already. Whole pump was seized, lines and banjo bolts clogged, injectors seized. Just got done rebuilding but the machine ran away on me while trying to start it and get the throttle and shut off shaft adjusted. That's pretty tmuch the last thing I need figured out. Thanks.

      Hi, Dont Worry. Wow, glad you got all those things cleared up. These Bosch pumps are high quality, but when they get old and have problems they aren't easy to fix because everything inside is so precise. Yeah, the lever alignments is in one or two of my videos. Let me search and get back to you.

      @@servihomestead4324 thanks! After pouring through manuals I think I found my problem though. My shuttle/shutoff shaft head broke, so I had to find a way to make a notch the lever could grab and made my own head/knotch. With the new head it looks like it's way too tight and the shuttle can't move back and forth on the spring so it's stuck at full injection. I wasn't aware that the levers moved in and out on the spring before.
      Going to have to flatten out the weld on the head I made for it quite a bit to make the spring sit at normal height, easy fix thankfully.
      Also I think the throttle lever notch on the knobs should be pointing to 9-10 o clock and the shut off lever should be pointing to 6-7 o clock when it isn't activated, but wasn't sure. I think I had it right, and the issue was from what I said above.
      Thanks for the help, really appreciate it. You are doing God's work with these va pump videos. There isn't much info out there available

      @@DanelectroJazz Wow, well that's a good find. I just looked into it and I think you're right. The top lever should be around 10 o'clock and bottom one around 7. Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you get it going.

    Can the throttle shaft be removed without disassembling the pump, looks like they are held on place with the plate with four screws. My throttle shaft is stuck tight, should I just pry it out?

    • @servihomestead4324
      @servihomestead4324  3 роки тому

      Hi, Robert. Yes, they (throttle and start/run/kill) should just slide out when the plate is removed. The slotted screws were difficult to get out for mine. I had to use a hand-held impact screwdriver.
      So your throttle shaft doesn't rotate?

    • @robertward5671
      @robertward5671 3 роки тому +1

      @@servihomestead4324 they do rotate but the engine speed does not change and there is a diesel leak that seems to be coming from the throttle and/or start/kill shaft. I was able to remove both, they were stuck in their bore(s). The throttle shaft is missing the piece that goes in before the spring. Any idea where I might find a replacement? Do you know the part number for a seal/rebuild kit? Thanks for the help.
