To an extent, the New York Broadway world is a bit isolated from the real world. I say that because I cannot understand why Sierra Boggess is not recognized everywhere as a historically great vocalist. Her Christine in Phantom is magical.
I went to college for music, and Broadway is often snubbed by musicians. It isnt deserved for sure, but I remember my final paper had a section on the under appreciation of Broadway singers and comparing it to opera from centuries ago.
Last year I fell in love with The Phantom of the Opera, posted on The show must go on during the lockdown here in Italy... I would never thank them enough for that. 🤩

When I was a teenager I was in LOVE with Sarah Brightman. I even sent her a letter at the Majestic in New York and she sent me a signed picture which I still have. That being said, as far as I am concerned Sierra Boggess is the Christine Daae for the ages.

I work at this establishment! Was definitely peeking through the windows on the double doors the entire time. Seeing these two perform has given me the boost that I need to keep building my career in these trying times.

She is so funny in person. The last time I saw her in concert, she shared that she had auditioned for the last revival of My Fair Lady and didn't get the part. Then she proceeded to sing a jaw-dropping version of I Could Have Danced All Night. Clearly the director made a mistake.
It is amazing to see Sierra perform effortlessly with her powerful voice and with so much emotion. You can definitely feel that she is Christine, even without the costume.
This reminds me of the bbc concert, And with the up and coming remake of West side story ,this makes there stunning performance even more relevant. I have 2 must see before i die singers ,and Adele is one and Sierra is the other . I am 57 so please get your skates on and do us a concert in the Uk . x
Sierra will always be the only Christine, her performance is just far and away vastly better than any other I’ve seen. The 25 th Anniversary performance was transformative for me personally. I started singing and getting into theater because of that performance-something no other performance of Phantom did. That performance moved me in a way that no other musical has ever approached.
ahhh!! this is what SINGING sounds like!! just sheer talent, no rappers, no obscenities,talent like this doesnt need a small army of dancers throwing shapes or a gospel choir or anything else to divert the audiences away from the lack of talent of the performers
