Most widely used slab system is Slab Beam system. The limitations of flat slab are - It can be constructed for Medium range spans. And flat slabs doesn't support masonry partitions. Also for reinforced flat slabs, deflection at the middle strip may be critical. Thats why flat slabs are generally used in parking decks, commercial buildings, hotels or places where beam projections are not desired.
@EngineeringMotive Our house is flat slab system (built up area approx 180*180 sq yards). Now we are planning to build another floor on top of it. Is it possible to add columns to the ground floor now.
Hi, we are planning a B+G+3 commercial complex in Bangalore, and the builder is saying flat slab structure costs more to build compared to conventional slab as the concrete and steel required is more, whereas here you are saying it is 16 % less than conventional slab, can you give me your number. I would like to consult you on the same
Very nice explanation. Kindly add images if possible for better understanding. Thanks
Finally which one is better and comanly used in constructions in India, flat or conventional?????

Conventional
Sir you are great.. thank you again
Your explaination is very nice
Very neatly explained.thank u sir.
Very useful information bro
thank you it's very good i'm from algeria
Hi Engineering Motive,
While the Reinforcement in Flat Slabs are in two layers and the thickness of slab being more, won't Flat Slabs cost more?
That's what I was also thinking.

Thank you sir please tell us about the uses of this conventional slab system
good very nice
Shall I get the details of difference between AAC brick and Porotherm smart brick(Red clay hollow brick)
And which is the best for house construction.
Which type of slab takes heavy load and in flat slab columns are constructed closer than conventional slab?
Good
Right to the point explained It's Perfect for me to understand
Thank you
Which System Last long duration ?
The point :- At least 3 continues spans are needed is it compulsory. Because I didn't hear it before is 3 x 2 slabs okay to construct.
Nice bro keep making em!!
thanks.
What is the main reason of design flat slab

Flat slab is high expense
Voice is very low
