I've worked with Mike for over 6 years and he's the real deal! Outstanding person and the epitome of what every professional driver should aspire to be.
Omg!!! I'm sooooo excited!!!!! I'm a new professional driver! I will be working ports in Houston, TX, with Knights Transportation. Can someone please connect me with Mike for Questions?
I just got accepted by Knight. Seriously interested in Port Services. I'm based out of Las Vegas. Any advice? I'd love to pick your brain. Enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Hey Jesse, I just applied at knight I start my training this coming Monday. I have 1 year experience team driving with another company. I’m also based out of Las Vegas…any advice tips or things to look foward too? Looks like I’ll be doing port from Vegas to LA
@@itsmyzur7697 Only advice I can offer is pretty obvious. Work hard. Keep all paperwork. Stay on top of truck inspections/maintenance. Keep a good relationship with your DM and Terminal Manager. Make sure you communicate with them. Make the truck as comfortable as possible for yourself. Plan your trips well beforehand. Hope this helps.
@@_method_5877 I left Knight. I was very unhappy with the terminal I worked at. Pay was low, miles were low. I'm with a much better company now. Paid better, and treated with respect.
Or you can be like a buddy of mine who ran the ports for night trans. Long Beach to Dillards in phoenix, had to run his ass off just to make any money and ended up falling asleep west bound 10 at Quartzite. His parents flew him back to Hawaii so they can teach him how to walk and talk and feed himself again. Happened in the mid 90’s . I worked for them, I’m working on my 29th year of driving

Here is some advice,...don't camp in the passing lane driving like the world owes you something. Slower traffic in the right lane!!!!
How many hours do you work for local port ??
Yes

Depends on what you want but from what I hear Vegas is a great city to run their port account from.

@Jesse Gago What is the cents per mile for port? How many miles on average do you drive a week?

How do you train drivers if only driver per truck is allowed at the port ? Or is that only LA/Long Beach port ? Are all ports different ?
Follow the trainer in a second truck 🤷🏾♂️
Do I have to live in California to work for the ports division? I'd like to stay in Vegas
We have a Ports division in Vegas! You can apply here: driveknight.com/job/dedicated-las-vegas-truck-driving-job/
How are these emmision trucks gonna be able to run on ports come on impossible
Is port mainly drop n hook
Our lots of live unload/load
Ports are always 99 percent drop and hook idk about knight tho
Make no money , and don’t get paid for any delay time that’s what you get with night
That's swift
Port driving is great if you are an old fart. Sit around, wait, wait, wait wait. Forever.
