Navigating Cultural Bias With a Child on the Autism Spectrum

  • This webinar examines racial and cultural biases and resulting disparities in autism diagnosis and treatment experienced by families of color. Recent research shows that as many as one in four children who have documented signs and symptoms consistent with autism spectrum disorder are currently undiagnosed, and those undiagnosed children are more likely to be children of color (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31868....
    In addition, families of color often experience cultural incompetencies by providers and financial and transportation barriers to obtaining needed support. We explore this complex societal problem and what steps can be taken to reduce and eliminate these disparities and biases.
