This is the inspirational demo of this product I was looking for! Artistry in the way the effects are used. Sparingly and appropriately for maximum impact. Have just ordered. Wish the artist was credited in the main blurb though. She's great.
😁😁😁 I'm psyched! I bought a Jamman some years back...but honestly? I'm a vocalist - a balladeer- more than a guitarist...and I'll be trading in, and up this year! I like the harmonies...as well as the looper and the depth... Sweet! TY
Like just for the last song and echo fx. Edit_ I bought the unit last week. It seems pretty good, I haven't done anything with it that blows me away yet, I'm sure that'll come. For now I'm just using my Boss VE8, and dipping my feet in with this.
Great demo. Great song and voice...reminds me of everything I like about Tori Amos, but unique. That BodyRez really does the trick. That looper is really great. Hell I'd buy it for that alone (almost) since I love to beatbox. The split cam is a HUGE help to see how the TC is being used. Thanks! Totes sold.
Sounds great! I never had too much problem dialing in a very usable acoustic tone with my VLP GTX. Cut the middle boost the bass a bit of reverb and compression and it was there. I did have some microphone feedback issues
Nice demo. The musician has a great voice. I would like for the video to have been twice as long and focus a bit more on using and tweaking the guitar effects. Most of the videos I've seen talk only about using the vocal effects and customizing them. I bought the unit so I wouldn't have to bring several guitar pedals along for a performance.
Please help... I need firmware to restore and fix my TC Helicon Play Acoustic. There's none of this firmware in the official TC Helicon website (download section). Why????
@TC Helicon, would you clarify a couple things, while I consider my pedalboard chain? 1: I use a voicetone T1 always on, does the play acoustic substitute it completely? 2: what is the fx block order? Especially for guitar
Could you please describe the setup of the song in the beginning? Which guitar was used? Which pickup was used? Which guitar settings were used? Which vocal settings were used? I really like the sound...
Hi, I certainly hope you can help me with this issue. I have TC Helicon Play Acoustic for a year or more. It was a great device! Just recently, the unit acts strange. It turn on OK, but suddenly it just HANG/ FREEZE. Display is ON, but all buttons and knobs not working. Unit can not detect input sound, no output either. I tried to RESET, also updated the unit with latest firmware via VoiceSupport. The problem still happens after a couple of minutes the unit ON.
I use one cardioid mic (Ear Trumpet Myrtle) for both vocal and guitar. I like the minimalism and love the mic. Trouble is, whatever mild effects I apply to my vocals in the Play Acoustic, it ends up terribly distorting the guitar. Has anyone dealt with and remedied something similar? I do like the quality of my vocals, though, very much. (I know I absolutely cannot take advantage of harmonies, etc., because the guitar would also get harmonies.)
I use the play acoustic too and the vocal effects never affect the guitar sound. Something must be wrong with your setup or your device is defective. Or are you playing live with loud guitar sound bleeding into your microphone? This would of course add harmonies to the guitar part that goes through the microphone.
@@dreamdancer8212 the Ear Trumpet Myrtle is a large-diaphragm "one-mic" solution for vocals/guitar and small groups, used by a lot of bluegrass/vintage-style performers. My situation is still the same, but I've found that when recording (Scarlett-->iPad), everything is good. I've managed to get a vocal/guitar sound, with just the one mic, that's quite nice and distortion-free. Very happy with that. But when I go directly into my amp (Henriksen Bud 6) the distortion is pretty nuts. I'm very careful about placement of the amp etc., and if I plug the mic directly into the amp, it sounds perfectly clean and nice. I *think* that the signal coming out of the Play Acoustic, into the amp, is maybe just too hot, even with a very very low gain setting on the Play Acoustic.
Great job, super vocals and guitar work. I just had a question about the PlayAcoustic if I may - say I would like to record harmonies in a DAW (and most of the tracks are already recorded) - can I use the aux in to playback the recorded parts in order to generate the chord-specific harmonies, or does that feature only work with a live guitar input? If this requires a techie from TC-Helicon is there a good contact you could direct me to? Thanks again for your music. Richard (Ricky) from Hartford CT
The unit looks for a guitar first, if it can't find a chord, it'll check the AUX and again if not, it'll use an internal mic on the system that sees if there are any other instruments or chords on stage it can reference from.. Hope that helps.
I've been using my Play Acoustic for a few years now and love it! I plug my Martin directly into the unit, but on some songs I use an open back banjo and set the key manually. Is it possible to use a y splitter cable to plug both guitar and banjo in, so I can free up a channel on the pa?
Hi TC, can you reveal the secret of how to use tap tempo to control the loop just like in this video? ps I've been a happy user of this product, you guys make awesome stuffs!
The loops in Play Acoustic are unrelated to the tapped tempo. She's just skilled at tapping the tempo and then recording a loop that's very close to the tempo she tapped. Other products like Touch 2 or VoiceLive 3 have an internal metronome that you can tap and then sync the loops to.

Please, would you tell me how to fix the explosive sound with playacoustic and what causes it? This thing is killing my perfomances.
TC-Helicon can I update my voice liveplay to this standard or do I need to buy this aswell -as it looks the same I feel a bit cheated that you just rebrand the same thing slightly - can you update my play to this spec?.. I updated it but the 500 options of voices are all pretty much the same as in 2013 when I bought it
I was reading the questions on amazon where I ordered mine from today, from what they say, it does provide phantom power. But I'll know for sure when mine ships.
i still do not know who this is nor how to buy her music!! also, this pedal is very cool but it's difficult for this 'plug-and-play' guy to use effectively.
Would someone be so kind to tell me how exactly she has managed to display the "Tempo" by hitting the middle switch? I am trying and dying here without any success. The manual is not of help at all. Thanks for your patience
+Wizz&Arts It's actually the Preset Up and HIT buttons pressed at the same time. Notice her foot was sort of cockeyed as it went down? She was pressing HIT too :)
+TC-Helicon Hey, thanks a lot - One must say what an excellent tool - creativity flows and songs are done by the minute.... I already got the voice works plus in my studio - Yeah, really love your stuff ;)
Gee, I'm sorry but I do not like the sound of the box when its On. It sounds very metallic. I don't hear any warm woody sound we should hear from an acoustic guitar. Maybe it is just this video. I wonder how the guitar would sound with our box if it was amplified through s microphone rather than a pickup?
Can anyone tell me if Play Acoustic works well with 12 strings guitars? I'm on doubt if I buy Play Acoustic or Play Electric.... I think that Play Electric will be more usefull to me, once I didn't know if I can plug a electric guitar in Play Acoustic will works... I've both: acoustic and electric guitars and wish to use both on stage (in different moments, of couse)....
Yep, as long as we hear chord information we can detect for harmony. In play Acoustic, BodyRez can definitely work on the 12 string sound also. If you have both electric and acoustic, I'd probably go for a Play Electric. There's an amp setting called "Acoustic Shape" that is like BodyRez, but not quite as fully featured, that should still improve the 12 string sound in addition to all the stuff in there for your electric.
Accessing tap tempo is a combo of two of the footswitches at the same time. It's either preset up and down or preset up and hit. I can't remember off the top of my head ;) The little red light was probably the input LED getting close to clipping a few times.
i have the pedal and I love it , but i was disappointed with the lack of Instructions , just a quick guide and I still havent found the looper function. If you can help please do
Hi Brentkev01, you can download the complete manual from our website: www.tc-helicon.com/products/play-acoustic/support. Also, there are a set of detailed Tutorial videos you can check out. They're in the playlist for Play Acoustic on our channel here on UA-cam.
Depends on whether you're happy with the acoustic sound from your amp! If you are, you could look at something like a Harmony Singer that doesn't do any guitar processing, but also has fewer effects and no looping. If you still want the presets, extra effects and looping Play Electric has a guitar in/thru that still captures guitar chords but can bypass the internal effects and go straight to your pedals/amp.
You've got a Play GTX, which has some guitar amp simulations for a more electric guitar focus. Play Acoustic leans towards acoustic players and can't do things like distortion. Your GTX also has hardware MIDI, which Play Acoustic does not... though that may or may not matter to you. If you're happy with your GTX and don't feel you want to focus specifically on acoustic performance, I would keep your money :)
+Aiden Myers Music Typically we record direct out of the XLR's in stereo. Often it's into a field recorder like a Zoom or into a small recording interface.
+TC-Helicon Thanx :) I Think I'll definetely buy "play acoustic". I'm searching something that could combine vocal and Guitar acoustic effects for my live shows. I'm also really curious about the looper.. I never have tryied some before but i think it could be an extra oomph for live shows (and also funny) .
Looping in most of our products doesn't have quantization or metronome functions to assist with the loop creation. Believe me I was TERRIBLE at looping when I first tried it. Now, I can quite confidently make a loop. It just takes practice to time the button presses to the beat when you start and stop the recording. I found that practicing with a metronome going really helped me get the hang of it. Don't give up! You'll get there for sure.

Beautifully played song ☺👍
great job! Finally a great review. best
Do nylon string guitars work well with the TC Helicon Play Acoustic.

Looks like a Martin, which normally come with a Fishman Prefix pickup. BodyRez settings were probably the default in the unit.

Does anyone know if body res works well with other acoustic instruments, such as mandolin?
What song is the first song Fool? I searched for the lyrics and can't find it.
