It always amazes me to compare how cheap these old attachments are compared how much they were new. That attachment, adjusted for inflation, was about $185CAN in the late 1950s.
I just bought a Singer 404 in very mint condition and it surprisingly came with all the attachments and this zig zagger as well (in box) with 4 attachments
YES, YES, YES, very nice presentation and like others on here, nice camera work and great voice in your demo. I just order one (automatic zigzagger) along with Singer button hole attachment. Thank you, keep up great work.
I've had one of those hanging around forever and after seeing your video I gave it a try. Your video was great and after watching it the directions that survived with it made more sense. Fun little gadget but I think I'll stick to a vintage zig-zag machine for times I want a zig-zag stitch.
I Just discovered that I own a zigzagger for my 1958 Singer. Packed into the back of my wardrobe. Thrilled! Does it have to be oiled? ..or, anything? Never mind, have the instructions and Yes, it has to be lubricated.... I LOVE my 60 year old sewing machine! and all it's attachments!
Thank you so much for this post! I have spent too many hours trying to figure out which automatic zigzagger attachment model would be compatible with my Singer Class 66.
I had a Singer Featherweight and probably would not have bought an old Necchi that zigzagged had I known that accessory existed. Only heard about it on Utube a few months ago. That's the first time I ever saw it demonstrated. My used 221 came with the buttonhole qnd it made great buttonholes.
I have one looks new in box , I am going to set it up on my treadel sewing machine soon, I am repairing a few older zigzags now , singer 767 zigzag, and working on a singer 722, I think I will like as it can sew patches on jeans , shirts better. Thanks for the great video .
I was googling to see if the zig zag is possible with the same machine as yours,. After seeing your video I do recall a singer box, now to go find where it could be.
Oh so that’s what it’s for I have all the boxes of cams red blue white yellow and the attachment but I’ve never bothered to use it I should give it a go since gran used to demonstrate the machines and I’ve got so many attachments
Really great tutorial. I have a question regarding using this attachment on an older machine. I own a Franklin 117.42, which is modeled on the Singer 27/127 sewing machine. Will this or similar attachments work with that machine which is a treadle machine?
This is very helpful, thank you! You mention that you can leave the Zigzagger attached even when doing a straight stitch. Is it possible to align the fabric either left or right (as opposed to the usual central) whilst doing a straight stitch? Many thanks
Yes you can. The zig-zag produced has the same elasticity as on a zig-zag capable sewing machine. The bobbin and needle threads follow the same path when stitched - they just get there by swinging the fabric left and right rather than the needle.
This is an Amazing tutorial!!! Thank you ♥️ I bought this although it appears yours has an extra lever than mine for straight stitch above the fork on right? Is this an extra item available after the original attachment was made?
Saludos. 😊
Good evening, please don't you know if the zigzagger 161 158 is compatible with the 15k model? I can't find it anywhere. I don't know what to do anymore. Thank you.
@@CraftcoreDIY ☺️ That said, despite your brilliant tutorial I still bought the wrong one 😱. I bought a slant one it seems and cannot get it yo fit either our 99k or our 201k. Who knew it was so complicated 🤣
Why won't my zizagger move my fabric forward or backwars when I press sew. It only moves the zozagger side to side. And the lever on right side doesn't go as far back as yours seems to
Great vid. Hoping you can assist me. This 160895 model looks just like mine's. I want to make sure it is authentic. Can I email you with my pics? Many thanks
Hey Step! I'm not an expert, I just like trying out vintage sewing supplies I find while thrifting. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to tell a repro from an authentic piece. Sorry! 💜
Sorry, I'm not familiar with the model Usha 8500, but this zigzagger model that I'm using works with machines compatible with low-shank sewing attachments.
Finally someone with a decent quality camera and clear viewing angles. Great tutorial!
unbelievable you explained in 5 min. everything start to finish great job nice nails
Thank you so much! I try to edit down my videos to be as short but still as informative as I can. I'm glad it's appreciated!💖 And thank you!

Thanks for good editing , sharp focus, and camera angles. (Lots of bad blurry video everywhere on UA-cam, especially close-up demos!)
Great tutorial! You have a wonderful speaking voice. Thanks for posting!
Awesome tutorial 🙏🏻 so stoked there are other antique singer enthusiasts out there - long live the hand crank 🌀🌀

My go to attachment
thank you for this video!
That is a good demonstration. Does it really run as quietly as indicated in the video? It seems super smooth, more so than the buttonholer.
Thank you! I did adjust down the volume of the clip so that my voice track would be able to be heard. I was impressed with how smooth it runs though!

Very interesting and informative. Are the accessories for the singer vintage sewing machine available on Amazon?
Omgg finally i thought that my machine only sew in straight stitch

thanks for the video,
do you try with multiples layers , it this system can mis align layers, have you try to sew biais ? is it possible ?
How can I get It...
No matter what I do, the width of my zigzag is narrow. Any suggestions? I have tried the bight, sittch length etc.
Can this attachment be used to blind stitch a hem in dress pants?
I did not realize you can leave the attachment in place and switch between straight stitch and zigzag!
Do you know if there are a plate for a bigger zig zag pattern? Yours and mine are very short, I would like to have a bigger zig zag stitch.
Very good 👍😊

I've never used a Juki, sorry! Does Juki take low-shank attachments and feet?
Hi there, do you think I can use this zigzag on my singer 99?
Hi! I think you should be able to use it on the Singer 99. I'm demoing it on the 66 which is a very similar machine, just full size versus 3/4 size. 😊

Does anyone know if the pattern pieces are different for attachments on low shank and slant shank machines?
The Simanco part numbers and patterns for the cams for both the straight and slant shank machines are the same so they should be interchangeable.
