Boy Adopted by Cop Who Saved Him From Murderous Dad

- At just 8 years old, Ronnie survived being stabbed 20 times and set on fire by his father, who was later convicted of murdering the boy’s mom and sister. When he was recovering in the hospital, he got a visit from Hillsborough County Sheriff Mike Blair, and Ronnie asked Mike to watch a movie. Danyel Blair, who became Ronnie’s mom, says that she’d already known that they wanted to take Ronnie home with them that night. Five months later, the Blair family grew from seven to eight when they adopted Ronnie.
"How did I hurt you?"
"You stabbed me"
That man is a monster.
When I watched that part, I felt so much rage. The way he went eye level with him, acting like some professional. Like he was teasing him! Disgusting
If something were to have happened to the guy while he was being transported to prison I don’t think anybody would care.

I would ask the child if he wants to change his name, seems awful to be named after that dude
I don't think we should minimize other people's hard experiences in an abusive household, no matter how close to actual death they get, abuse is always like mental death. You're never the same.
@@CircussCakeAgreed.
@@CircussCakeTrue. I still think it's sometimes good to remember horrible cases like this one to get out of a spiral of self-pity. It doesn't minimise the pain you're going through yourself, at least it isn't supposed to, it just broadens your perspective every now and then. Not as in saying "what I went through isn't all that bad", but as in "look, other people suffer too and stay so strong. I'm not alone and I can be strong too."
@@joanneaugust6611 This is the kind of message I'd like people to take, but unfortunately most people just use it as an excuse to feel like their problems aren't worth talking about, and throws them back into the vicious cycle of abuse and bottling up feelings.
"He's just a little brother now" hearing that warmed my heart as an older brother and father myself.
At 9 years old that kid is already more of a man than his dad will ever be. So glad he found a new family!
Exactly, Im just so happy for him that everything has somehow turned to the better side and that he's being taken care of such a heartwarming family, he only deserves the best🙏🏻

Was Not Big ~ He said as soon as he saw him he wanted to adopt him ~
@@layalaya9367 Not really - 2:09
Yeah I dont think it was a big decision at all i think that detective knew that poor child was a miracle to be alive and didn't want him to go through any more pain by not having a caring family to be with. I think that detective automatically knew after seeing the poor heartbreak that baby witnessed and endured that he needed to show him that a father is supposed to love and protect their kids. I think it was an easy decision, if i was in the detectives shoes it would had been an easy decision for me and i would had done the same as he did.
I agree with you on that one👏👏
@@pamalojo u sound dumb he only said he had no idea it wasn’t a hard choice for him
Just witnessing his mother and sister’s death is traumatic, your own father trying to kill you and then the audacity of cross examining him is just horrifying. His eyes tell a story that he’s happy but he will never forget that. I hope he’s getting better and better every day. ❤
crazier is the court giving him access to doing that like what that boy went through wasnt enough... mind blowing
It is appalling that the legal system allowed that to happen! The monster should never have been allowed to torture his child further in court after what he (the child) had been through. He has so much strength and courage to stand up to his bully of a father after such a terrible life and traumatic experience. I hope though, that it helped him heal from the terrified child to the more confident young man he seems to be now.
I hope he is able to conquer the horror he has experienced in his formative years with the help of his loving adopted family. He has a hard row to hoe ahead of him.
I don’t think his eyes say he’s happy at all. you can see the pain
I'm sure he's much happier and safer now that he's with a family that loves him and that monster is behind bars. Of course, that won't erase the trauma and pain caused by that incident, but he will slowly and surely heal, especially surrounded by so much love now.
In what universe does this child have to take the witness stand?! I'm happy this young boy has found a family who love him.
This is an old comment but I want to provide the following reference:
The 6th Amdt. to The U.S. Constitution provides the absolute right of the accused to cross examine witnesses against them.
Its a fundamental tenant of due process.
And he had to be asked if he would testify, based on what the sob did,I imagine the child was asked if he would be ok to testify against his dad.
And he did and now his dad got life in prison.
Without children's testimonies a lot.of the time scumbags get off because the witness is too young or too scared due to age. This child was brave and deserves his flowers !
But he was accused and charged by the district attorney on behalf of the jurisdiction, not by the young child he stabbed repeatedly sweet on fire or the wife and daughter he murdered. There was more than enough evidence to try him without subjecting a victim to that circus.
In the real world, welcome i guess ? you've been sheltered your whole life havent you ? same as all libs, thinking stuff is crazy and unfair for people, when it's been around forever and that's how the world works, it's not a wonderful land, that's why we say "cruel world" but dems think they can make it disneyworld everywhere, but it's a fluke to get the votes while they do the opposite in the back and lie in the front.. i had to say it.
As a black child who was adopted by a white family, this broke and healed my heart. My biological mom did several hard drugs when she was pregnant with me. My parents met me at a month old because they knew the foster parent at the time. My parents looked at her and said “This is gonna be our daughter”. They went to the prison my mom was in at the time and asked her permission to adopt me. 🎉Adopted me at a year and i’m now 21. I don’t know where i’d be without them. They had 3 sons already and they loved me more than anything . Only have 1 sibling alive now but i’ll always be grateful to have found my forever family 🤍.

Because people have a right to defend themselves in court.
It is heartbreaking and even traumatic. However, the kiddo seems to be very brave and strong and probably agreed to take the stand. If it would have been too traumatic I assume they would have not allowed it.
I bet u long term that experience will help him deal with this. He got the closure and the final say and he got to confront him and win.
I didn’t think watching this i would tear up. That is love. wishing you all a great future and thank you all for showing him what love does but us as well❤
exactly...tears man...love your family...I am crying...yeah..kid...your safe...so sorry though..what you went through..just know allot of us on the internet love you kid...we want to see you fly..yeah i can see the love that cop has for him like a son...so heart warming...tears.
For that disgusting so called "father" to stand in court and ask that question. It's amazing how this young boy survived so much trauma. May this young child heal and grow and not allow this horrific event to stop him from living an amazing life and may the man that took this young child into his arms live a healthy, long and amazing life alongside.
@Logan Roof Dude, calm down
@Logan Roof It's disgusting that you can talk
@Logan Roof Why is that?

That hug was full of love. Every kid deserves a loving father figure in their lives and it's so wonderful to see that this young man finally has one in his life. I wish their family the best, and kudos to his new siblings for openly accepting his new brother.

No one NEEDS a father figure in their life besides GOD alone... stop trying to put another man over the ALMIGHTY guidance
THIS MAKES ME CRY WHAT A GUY😇🙏 THIS MAN IS AWESOME GOOD LUCK YOUNG MAN THANK GOD THIS FAMILY ADOPTED HIM
Powerful story. Strong young man. I hope the love and peace he has with this new family brings him the healing he needs.
That boys father is a complete lunatic. I’m so glad that he was adopted and is so loved by his new family.
People need to stop calling him a father..
A good father would never hurt his family like that
@@mcgoofe1871 being a father has to be earned and the cop earned that for sure

Stabbed 20 times and set on fire… just wow. I’m so happy he’s doing well now, strong kid
Set on fire and no burn marks🤨
@AlexMichael Seepersaud watch carefully before commenting @ minute 2:14 when the boy hugs you can see the burning marks on his right arm.

SETTING A CHILD ON FIRE?!!... thats horrible. that officer is a hero and angel :) im happy to know that he is doing fine 😊
Setting him on fire after stabbing him 20 times. Just brutal.
maybe he wasn't black enough?
That's what that demon dad is going to feel when he BURNS IN 🔥🔥🔥 🔥for all eternity
But, still I cant believe he testified against his own father. I could never forgive that.
@@bunjijumper5345are kidding me? The man killed his mother and little sister in front of him then turned around and stabbed him 20 times and burned him. That demons forgiveness is the last thing that miracle of a boy would be concerned about. You sound mentally ill.
Wow, this made me tear up. That boy is so strong to still keep a smile on his face after all he's been through and he was old enough to remember all of it. His arm has burn scars, he has stab wounds... from his father.
Straight joy seeing officers of the law being so kind and awesome.
I usually don’t get moved by stories like this, but this made me cry. God bless that police officer and his loving family.
Dang, me too.
