  • in this video {779} Comparison between UC3842, UC3843, UC3844, UC3845 ICs, i compared practically different parameters between UC3842, KA3842, UC3843, KA3843, UC3844, KA3844, UC3845, KA3845 series current mode smps PWM controller ics. i checked frequency, duty cycle, vcc startup voltage. UC384x PWM Controller IC Test Circuit. uc3842, uc3842, uc3844, uc3845, ka3842, ka383, ka3845, 1842, 1843, 1844, 1845, 2842, 2843, 2844, 2845 is a family of pwm controller ics, which is used in different pwm controller topologies, as dcm flyback, ccm flyback, boost, buck and feed forward converter topologies. i made this test circuit i to test and verify the ic using oscilloscope and multimeter. we can check its pwm signal on dso and digital multimeter, and duty cycle as well.

    Thank you for your valuable service! Great job explaining! I went from knowing NOTHING about power electronics and SMPS's, to being able to at least diagnose where the problem is. Almost ALL electronics in the world use SMPS's now, so that makes this one of the most practical electronic channels on UA-cam. Especially now, with shortages in the world, a broken machine could cost $$$$ each hour it's down! Can't just throw it all in the garbage like the old days! Have a great day sir!

      yes you are right, these days the SMPS is the main item in modern electronics and it is a biggest headache. so that is the reason still my focus is on power supplies. other all digital electronics and analog electronics is very simple. that can be diagnosed very simply and easily

    If you dont mind I want to ask about mosfet drived by utc3842 sometimes we find diode and low resistance in parallel to feed signal to mosfet gate the question is how that work and what the benefit of that

    Slmz, Please do a video on short circuits, I understand electronic short circuits, to a certain level, but it becomes tricky with smd components especially with capacitors. Are all caps one side ground, and how much resistance or voltage drop exactly is a short. Some ppl test in diode mode, red on ground, some test diode mode black on ground, some test in resistance mode? Which is the correct method?

    Why would you use a UC3844 instead of a UC3842? its half frequency, half duty, but can't you just use different cap/resistor values to halve the frequency of the UC3842 while maintaining it's 100% duty adjustment?

    good afternoon sir, I just tried make a simple 17vdc power supply for UC3842, by using resistor 220k/3watt and zener 17v/5watt (IN5354B), and capasitor 220uf/35v, taken directly from the main power outlet and change it to vdc (about 310 vdc), but it does not work well, the voltage at the zener point is not stable, but if not connected to the UC3842 then it is fine, stable at about 18.1 vdc, please advise me how to make it stable? thanks a lot sir, cheers.

    One of VFD power supply with UC2844. But our market not available 2844. Then I was replace 3844 but now output on and off only.
