    I was one of pioneer representatives of Yougoslavia at meeting of socialistic country pioneers in Hungary, lake Balaton. There were also pioneers were from СОВЕТСКИЙ СОЮЗ. Pioneers were from Odessa representing СОВЕТСКИЙ СОЮЗ.That was 1984. We prepared for each country one song to greet on their language. This is song that we were singing to greet СОВЕТСКИЙ СОЮЗ friends. The most popular song that pioneers from Odessa sang was Подмосковные Вечера. All kids from Yougoslavia learned that song to sing. After 40 years I am still in contact with one of that pioneer from СОВЕТСКИЙ СОЮЗ. Today I wathced movie Холоп - Milos Bikovic and found familiar song sounds like Ei uhnem..I started to sing it and then found it on UA-cam. Beautiful memories.

    This is like the Russian version of the old American folk song Erie Canal. In the sense that it is about boatman hauling their load upriver. Except that the American has the help of an engineered canal and a mule, whereas the Russian is hauling the boat along a wild river with a hundred of his compatriots.
    This explains the severe difference in tone.

    I've been learning Russian for a couple of years and I've gotten to a point where I can read Cyrillic with almost no delay and for some reason I find it easier to sing along when I'm reading the Cyrillic rather than the transliteration. Why is it easier for me to read and sing at the same time when it's in an alphabet I only learnt 2 years ago?

    • @sorrel7554
      @sorrel7554 3 роки тому +3

      My guess would be because the transliteration doesn't use the Latin alphabet the exact same way English does while the Cyrillic obviously uses itself the same way Russian does.
