I just bought this bfs reel back in April and slayed them at Silverwood cleghorn on the last stock of the year. Love that reel hard to adjust I always bird nest it 😢
Bfs reels are a little bit more on the finicky side. The repercussions of casting mistakes are wayyyy worse because of how fast the spool moves. The light spool and small line capacity leads to much faster and harder to control backlash if you make a bad cast. The best way to tune the reel is to turn the drag to max, set the brakes to zero and then adjust the spool tension until you can feel the spool moving right to left. Once you feel that side to side play in the spool tighten lightly until you can’t feel it anymore. Moving forward loosen your drag a bit, and set your brake panel to 50%, from that point you can cast lightly and see if the brakes need to be turned up or down for your casting abilities.
