This game is such a spectacular, masterpiece of game man. But I kinda love and hate the true ending tho don't read this comment if you don't want to get spoiled.
The devs completely miss the mark on the 3rd ending it could have been the best ending if they just let mark and Nicole date instead of those NPCs. Even if they don't remember each other it's better if they meet again and get to know each other once more like starting all over again that could have been the best ending, our girl cathy is alive and mark get to meet Nicole again and everyone's winning in life. Devs wtf why tf would you do this to us. People who saw the 3rd ending are probably taking a deep breath of copium right now, me included.
I disagree. The entire point of the third act is to drive home the fact that you can't expect everything to turn out the way you want.
If they ended up together, it would've been nice, but at the same time it diminishes the emotional buildup of the previous section: the missing people tried over and over to reset the universe and get the ending *they* wanted, but in the end the only way to move on was to let go and let things be imperfect.
Without the disasters caused by the resets, Nicole's perents never needed to move houses, which means she never transferred and thus never met Mark. It's not the typical happy ending the viewer wants, but all the characters in-story are happy, they talked through their problems and moved on, and I like that bittersweet ending much more than the more typical and honestly cliche alternative.
The cafe "Tadhana" means destiny. Which might imply that their dates didn't work out and they are destined to be together.

I'm deep into copium right now, but realize I have to accept the True End.
Because something like a Head Cannon will never happen, until it is revealed.
It's open ending anyways, so we can have our own ending + they have been together for hundred of lifetimes and there are many giveaways that they will end up together on the last timeline too. And i say got together again
Theory:
In the ending scene, we can see maria and jake together, watching them together, or lets say, they are the reason why they end up in the same cafe with their "temporary date", just a 1 step closer to their meeting. In the cafe, it's Mark's 4th date, and we all know why it keeps failing, because he is destined to be with someone else(nicole) and we can see nicole riding alone in the back of a car, this heavily suggested that nicole is on a temporary/meetup date as well. Maria and jake being there is one of the proof, fulfilling their promises that they will meet again. They are destined to meet, but maria and jake interference, rushing their meeting making the world collapse, Since they are no longer grieving over they lost, the world will no longer collapse when they meet in the final timeline. Just glimpse of each other, finding that spark, making it their destiny to be together. The name of the cafe is "tadhana cafe" or destiny cafe, also a proof that suggest that their destiny together will happen with just a glimpse, they are destined together, additionally with the assistance of maria and jake. If it was kapalaran/fate, it would've been a different story, since fate is something that we cant control/change. They have been together for hundred of lifetimes, they are technically soulmates, they will find each other, igniting that spark, and be together again.
Headcanon: they will fail their temporary date and they can easily bump into each other soon after. Glancing at each other, will make them familiar with each other, entagled with their fate to be together. Imagine if they remember each other completely, instead of just being familiar❤️. Anways, the point is, they are destined to be together.
