    I love seeing stuff like this, a scratch golfer not hitting his called shot. I think a lot of UA-cam golfers are scared to call their shots ahead of time because we all have a low success rate of hitting those shots and they don’t want to be criticized or something. Makes me feel better when I go for a draw and it comes out dead straight. This video also makes me feel better about how much I leave the driver in the bag when shooting for score, I hit it 310 yards and get bugged all the time about hitting 4 iron off the tee. Driver works but golf courses are made to be tough so they know at that 260-300 yards is the spot to put hazards, almost suckering you into playing it. If you score high try a few rounds at the same course with only irons/hybrids. Also happy to see local Alberta golfers making it in the UA-cam space, keep it up! I loved the fitting with your dad and have learnt lots watching you break down fitting videos.

      Thanks for the feedback and thanks for enjoying the channel! It would be easy to edit in perfect shots but I want to be real with you guys. Even tho I try to call a shot it will only happen a handful of times and I’m okay with that, as long as I have the commitment of hitting that called shot.

      @@zakbutz8226 not all it’s cracked up to be, my dispersion with my driver is too high so a miss on a tight course is a high score. Also I like to think I’m the average weekend golfer so whether I’m 150 yards to the pin or 80 yards to the pin I’m still ending up with the same score. So I’ll just take the 150 yards more often then not because that’s almost guaranteed fairway. I just use my range finder, find the biggest open spot and hit it to there. It is fun to hammer one every so often and carry the 310 and roll out but if it goes wrong I’m really far into the bush lol

    9:49 as a plus handicap i'd never recommend swinging extra hard. If you're between clubs with no wind hit the club that gives you the best chance to make par. Hit the short club if there's trouble long, hit the long club if there's trouble short. Always put yourself in the best position to make par should you hit a bad shot. You can also choke down on the club to take off 5 yards. I never want to hit a shot extra hard because you'll usually compromise your balance or swing to try and squeeze those extra yards.

    Played more golf this year than I have in my entire life and finally broke 90, hit driver super well, but push my 4-9 iron right more times then not. (I think I swing harder) but When I’m playing p-L I hit straight and give myself chances to score. So Lost balls on second shots have clouded my mental many times! I'm trying to break 100, but this is still super helpful. I just wish I could get the shanks, topped balls, and total mishits out of my game. I just don't feel like I have control over my shots just yet.

    • @NewNineGolf
      @NewNineGolf  4 місяці тому +3

      Something that has helped me gain consistent contact is practicing 1/2 and 3/4 shots. Slowing everything down and getting that feel of a well struck ball will translate to your full shots.

    • @atxrich
      @atxrich 3 місяці тому

      I would find a reliable tee club and a mid/short iron you feel most comfortable hitting to keep the ball in play more often. And yes, practicing 1/2 and 3/4 shots is definitely helpful for better contact. As your swing is more consistent, you could work more clubs into your arsenal.
      Give yourself an extra 1-2 strokes on par 4 and 5s so you’re not super stressed about shooting the posted par number. You’ll break 100 in no time.

    • @brianschultz7320

      Right now, I don’t hit full shots even on the course. When I hit 3/4 shots/punch shots I find the middle of the face more often and my ground contact is better. I plan on incorporating full iron shots back into my game down the road. I’ve been getting pars and birdies on par 3s recently which never happened in the past.

    I hear you on course management. For example, I see most higher handicap players make bad decisions on par 5's. So agree. But on the 8th hole, it would seem to me like perhaps you might want to consider something other than your hybrid. It is hard to see on camera, but it seems like with hybrid you actually brought trouble into play, the bunkers. If you are going to club down, then maybe something that will leave you short of the bunkers, still a short iron in. Or, maybe just hit driver pound the snot of out the ball and take those bunkers out of play. Use your driver as a weapon. Again, just my two cents worth based on what I can see from the video! Thanks!

    • @NewNineGolf
      @NewNineGolf  3 місяці тому

      You are 100% correct. I hit the 5H thinking if it did go towards that bunker I would be short. The previous 10x times I played this hole I was fading back to centre or even right side. This day I had the draws which were a little uncommon for my game. Hindsight is 20:20 😂 Took my medicine and at-least avoided a double.

    Great idea and love the approach, but his tee selection for where he targeted and how bad that 1st putt was was mind-boggling. What are you doing dodging all those hazards for your ONE small landing zone?? Ha. Jesus.
