After watching this I donned my end-of-times mask and ventured to Publix, whereupon I purchased the sacred White Mountain Bread for $2.99. "Tom Bukovac suggested this," I told the cashier, who looked befuddled, but nodded. After returning to my vehicle and thoroughly sanitizing the grocery and myself, I pulled a piece from the sacred White Mountain plastic packaging. I took my first bite. "Praise the Lord" I thought to myself, "Truly some of the finest yeast to grace this green earth." On my way home, I passed by a Food City and said aloud, "Let them eat Wonderbread. Those sorry souls know nothing of the blessings from White Mountain." Cool blues jam, thanks for the licks.
Even The Covidians with their face diapers and disinfectant love Uncle Larry! Make sure you disinfect your guitar neck before you try to emulate Uncle Larry.
at 3 different times in the intro, I thought you were going to stop and I was like man I wish he would keep going and then boom you'd take off again! Loved it.
I love your videos. I was born with one arm and like to think I appreciate guitar players more than the average fan, because I don’t play and electric guitar just punches my soul. I’m a huge blues fan as well. Thank for posting these videos, I enjoy every one and look forward to checking out the lesser known players you mention. Keep on rocking!!!
2 years of listening to your stuff and this is still by far my favorite intro you did out of all your vids... Man it's so great! Thank you for never ending inspiration Tom!
DAAAANG, dude!! You are absolutely right. That pick scrape immediately after the vocal line, "strike that poor boy down! Very quick, very short pick scrape, but so very perfect. Absolutely awesome!
I'll tell ya man, once my gigging life resumes (and I hope it does soon), I'll be a hell of lot better guitar player because of these homeskoolin videos. so thanks for that man!
Even when you're not showing off you are showing off my brother...I love it when you show us a lick and then take it into light speed. So much to unwrap in this video, could keep me busy for a week or two. Peace, Scott
Gawd damn. Just revisited this, purely because we all can....first 3 minutes and 18 seconds are some nuggets of greasy-ass, blues fueled GOLD!!! I stumbled upon this channel, at the beginning of the pandemic....as a player of 28 years...haven't missed an episode so far. The most real world musical value (for me), as anything on the entire internet(!). Full stop. Well done, sir.
How the hell did I not hit the "Like" button on this two years ago?!! After two years of Homeschoolin', this is still the most grab-you-by-the-balls intro to a video I've seen! Thanks for moving the music past where you found it, Lightnin'!
"I'm definitely a bread connoisseur" [sips his beer] That was badass. And thanks Lord for the yeast. Edit: 12:00 great lick, and surprisingly I can do it. I mean, just the part you teached in slo mo. Thanks man!
September 18 2022. Just took a walk down memory lane, and rewatched this video. You hit the ground running with this channel. Great from the start. You're a natural in front of the camera. You ought to try acting. Much respect Uncle Larry...
I love ❤seeing amazing stuff that shows whats possible and at the same time feels impossible for me ! Lol…. But it will up my game , this is right up my alley 👍🏻💪🏻
Long journey over the last 3 years. Circling back through the catalog to pick up golden gems that I missed now that I've improved cause of your lessons bra. Thanks Man!! Keep up the free lessons baby, no charge for mistakes!!
Tom I swear to God, this is the best guitar channel/set of videos in the net right now. I will pre order every guitar course you`ll make. Price and topic ? Doesn`t matter. It can be about bread as well !!!! Pure value + inspiring as F..k. BTW. The ladder must stay!
Man my daughter makes bread and it is the best on the planet. Easy as well. Flour, Yeast, Water and Salt. She mixes that together in a bowl, then lets it sit for 12-24 hrs, Punch it down let it rise again for 2hrs then bake. The time you are working the dough is about 15 mins max, the rest is waiting and cooking. It's called The Miracle Boule out of Laura Calders book French Taste. I LOVE BREAD AND GUITAR... AND BEER AND COFFEE... AND THESE VIDEOS... and our mutual friend CAROLINE DAWN JOHNSON... she had you come play on a demo of ours. Thank you for your artistry my man and theses great lessons.
thinner picks can make nasty pick scrapes when you can hear the pick scrape through each wind of the string, or credits cards sound cool too :p Killer series Tom
Oh man, Lenny Breau. Thank you for mentioning him! Went down the rabbit hole after the Georgia recommendation. What an amazing guitarist, really enjoying his recordings. So lyrical, and harmonically reminds me a lot of Bill Evans, one of my fave piano players.
Tom, just an FYI on the White Mountain Bread, they will slice it for you in the bakery...at least they do where I’m at. It is a glorious loaf! Thank you again for the tremendous value you’re providing us here on your channel. Been fun working on this stuff.
Tom, I agree about Eddie being the king of pick scrapes (among other things). I think his best is at the end of the "You Really Got Me" solo, after the toggle switch flutter. So epic!!! It sounds like he double tracked the pick scrape. Talk about being committed! Love the channel. This musical vignette was super inspiring. Thanks!
Sooo good, wow!! Tom,i have been watching youtube guitar uploads for a good 10 years now and i can honestly say your playing, your emotion, your touch and tone is second to none.Keep safe dude.
I keep re-watching this one... killer blues playing, killer tone... been trying to learn this whole thing. This is the White Mountain Bread of blues and this video is my Publix; I keep coming back.
Holy crap! That opening 3 mins. is worth the price of admission alone. Such tasty playing coupled with a great, dirty sound. Thanks for doin' what you do, Tom. (Sidebar: I worked on a movie in Vancouver years ago and the main character drank Rolling Rock. We used to have it shipped from Pittsburgh on a regular basis. The logo jogged my memory. ...I think you're Rolling Rock's new best friend). :)
This guitar is so freaking cool. It's been lurking in the back of my mind since I first this video, when it first aired. You have many cool guitars, but this one takes the price for me. You should feature it more on the channel. I would love that. Love your content too.
That's exactly where Joe Walsh got it from. That was indeed a Hendrix invention and you can hear it perfectly executed on the long version of Voodoo Child. Cheers from Louisiana P[>
Love that PRS Cleveland edition. I would love to hear one of your Danocaster guitars someday if you ever get the chance. Also -- props for the Mean Street reference. I first heard that song when I was probably 4 years old and I couldn't understand how he made all those sounds. EVH is one of my kings of rock n' roll swagger-y guitar. Thanks Tom!
Damn! That combination is the perfect sound. I watch every day and you have helped me so much. Got a whole new bag of tricks. Keep it up... I'm addicted to Home Schooling and it sure does feel good!
Eddie would only scrape for a few inches over the pickups as I understand. He would really quickly transition to just his left hand sliding down the frets. So it's a pick scrape and hand slide. With his distorted amps it sounds awesome. Pete Thorn explained this one time.
there was a place in Cantley Quebec Canada that was called Orms bakery f___ nothing better Tom kinda where ya mentioned a badass player from close to Gatineau river where all my relatives are from ! walked across the logging mill river when I was young Im not anymore
At 13:45, holding down that D bass note with 3 different fingers, switching effortlessly - amazing. Sometimes I'm not sure if watching Uncle Larry makes me want to work to get better or throw in the towel?
Señor Buk, this is an old-ass video, but I too have enquired into the mysteries of the pick scrape (I came up in punk bands where they were obligatory), and allegedly, EVH's secret was to scrape the string(s) with his right hand while fretting a note with the left, either a high note he would then slide down the neck or a low note he'd slide upward. The combination of the pick noise and the moving note gives you that kind of metallic frequency interference you want out of a good yowling scrape. Que Dios te bendiga.
I'll share this, since I've been accused in the past of being a bread snob. About 12 years ago, Gold Medal, the makers of common flour, made a truly great store bought bread. They only did it for a couple of years, and then they pulled it off the market for whatever reason, but man that was great bread. That was the first store bought bread where I'd eat the whole loaf, ends and all. Can't say that about any other supermarket bread. Anyway, cheers to you, sir, and thanks for what you do.
I'm way late to this party.....but dayum son that's some ballsy, greasy, sonic histrionics that even the Right Rev BFG would be tapping his toes to. More....please
Effing badass intro man. Thank you so much for doing these - it gives us mortals some motivation and and hope- hope maybe we could pull of one little bit of that with as much feel and touch. I’m normally out splicing fiber optic stuff in the woods, on the roads and in buildings and being jammed in my house has been insane- I made it a point that I’d use the time to improve my playing and you’ve opened up some new ways of looking at the instrument for me. Wishing much health and happiness to you and your family as well
Even before the bread subject of today, when you mentioned changing the name of the lessons, I was thinking it could be Tom’s Sexy Toast. Sexy Toast was always a goofy band name I had in my head. I’m too late on the name change, but after seeing your love of bread, it might’ve had a shot. Love the lessons and philosophical talk!

Cool blues jam, thanks for the licks.

I'm so glad Rick Beato mentioned this guy in a video. I can't get enough!
Rhett Shull too. ;-)
Yup!
That Pedal Show too!
at 3 different times in the intro, I thought you were going to stop and I was like man I wish he would keep going and then boom you'd take off again! Loved it.
That intro is some of the most bad ass guitar playing I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of bad ass guitar playing!
the best PRS I've ever heard....mean playing!
Can always play the mouth harp. God bless brother.
2 years of listening to your stuff and this is still by far my favorite intro you did out of all your vids... Man it's so great!
Thank you for never ending inspiration Tom!
Normally, people's blues playing makes me wanna throw something but you actually make me wanna play it. Killer stuff.
DAAAANG, dude!! You are absolutely right. That pick scrape immediately after the vocal line, "strike that poor boy down! Very quick, very short pick scrape, but so very perfect. Absolutely awesome!
For the love of beer, guitars and all great things. That jam was awesome!!!
My day just got better. I’m trying to steal 1 thing from each video. They are phenomenal.
I'll tell ya man, once my gigging life resumes (and I hope it does soon), I'll be a hell of lot better guitar player because of these homeskoolin videos. so thanks for that man!
Man, that tone reminds so much of Leslie West, early Mountain. Badass stuff today as always, Thank you Tom
Was thinking Leslie West myself -Stormy Monday!
Even when you're not showing off you are showing off my brother...I love it when you show us a lick and then take it into light speed. So much to unwrap in this video, could keep me busy for a week or two. Peace, Scott

That intro is as rockin' as anything I've seen in years. I'm glad I discovered you through Guthrie Trapp's channel. Amazing! So much fun.
How the hell did I not hit the "Like" button on this two years ago?!! After two years of Homeschoolin', this is still the most grab-you-by-the-balls intro to a video I've seen! Thanks for moving the music past where you found it, Lightnin'!
"I'm definitely a bread connoisseur" [sips his beer]
That was badass.
And thanks Lord for the yeast.
Edit: 12:00 great lick, and surprisingly I can do it. I mean, just the part you teached in slo mo. Thanks man!
I literally laughed out loud when it came up. I had to pause it, I was laughing so hard.
The beast is unleashed-excellent!!!
Greatest pick scrape in rock history indeed!!! Such cool stuff here!!
September 18 2022. Just took a walk down memory lane, and rewatched this video. You hit the ground running with this channel. Great from the start. You're a natural in front of the camera. You ought to try acting. Much respect Uncle Larry...

Absolutely love that guitar and of course Tom’s playing is incredible.

BTW. The ladder must stay!
A lot to unpack in this video! I enjoy so much and helps loosen up my playing.
I think that’s the sweetest PRS I’ve ever heard,on fire young man.
I love that PRS. I have a DGT model , I need a TBT. ( Tom Bukovac tremolo ).
I need one... Don't want one... need one.
I can see opening your live show with this one!! Amazing!!
Paul Gilbert says you gotta use a thin pick to get a good pick scrape. Really enjoying these! Thanks for the tips and the stories!

Yep I'm pretty sure this and using the shoulder of the pick is the secret. EVH used paper thin picks.

10:16 double stop bends. I always saw that more as a Hendrix lick back in 1967, no doubt far earlier blues roots
Tom, I agree about Eddie being the king of pick scrapes (among other things). I think his best is at the end of the "You Really Got Me" solo, after the toggle switch flutter. So epic!!! Love the shirt as much as the guitar!… let me know if you need anything CLE when I come in July (Alesci’s bread) lol… Jim from Willowick
That's the best looking PRS I've seen.
And that tone!!! Made me think of classic Leslie West ...Good Stuff
That's some good tone...good playing too !
Tom, This is your best video yet. I love what you are giving to the world.
Guilty as charged with the sports bar blues. Pride & joy, TURN IT UP!!
Baddest-of-ass intro . Love it :D Keep a rollin' peoples
I listened to that intro 5 times, So good,
I remember watching this 2 years ago, Buk is just awesome
Yep! Hav'in a hard time too Tom. Ain't it funny how playing the blues gets us in touch with those feelings and knocks the crust right off? Thank you.
No pun intended ;-)
Hey Uncle Larry! Tom Scholz had some mean pick scrapes, especially with that fucking Rockman Echo Space Machine thing he had.
Brightest of lights in a dark time. Thank you for this series! Cheers from Colorado
I keep re-watching this one... killer blues playing, killer tone... been trying to learn this whole thing. This is the White Mountain Bread of blues and this video is my Publix; I keep coming back.
Diggin the Walsh content, his contribution to Dirty Laundry is one of my favs of his
I’m learning those tonight. I can’t believe I missed this years ago. Great stuff🤘
Mean Street is my desert island VH song. Good shout-out
Oh my god I love that greasy goodness. Thank you so much. I owe you big time.
Holy ****. That intro piece would be a great album opener. Boys and girls, this is what monster feel and in the pocket sounds like.

Love the blues stuff!! You make it sound Juicy!!
At 13:45, holding down that D bass note with 3 different fingers, switching effortlessly - amazing. Sometimes I'm not sure if watching Uncle Larry makes me want to work to get better or throw in the towel?

Just went out & bought that “White Mountain Bread.” That’s killer stuff! I hope you’re getting something for your Rolling Rock ale & Publix adds😉
Great stuff!

On a side note, this has literally gotten me out of bed this morning😂😂😂

Man...this series is the best.
Amazing!!!!! Just ....WOW!!!
Words can't even begin to describe how good this god damned bread it. Man... do i know that feeling.
Albert King 2 note pull/push cause he was lefty. You’re a beast man!

I had a band called Burnt Toast. It was goofy, and I dug it.
I am so glad I found you !!!!!
