    This is a very comprehensive video you made, Dr. Walter. Your videos are truly phenomenal and that helped my (and others') mental health when my body was going crazy with all the pains- both muscle and nerve, and with all the spasms and discomforts. I found comfort in your videos in the hopes you share that my condition is NOT A LIFE SENTENCE. You have made such a huge difference in the lives of these people who are watching your channel.
    I hope my comments and the constant love and support of this wonderful community will inspire you more to keep creating content.
    More power to you Doc, and cheers to this growing community!

    This channel has so much valuable information for free that I tolerate all the ads before the videos to make sure Dr. Walter gets revenue from UA-cam monetization. For you guys to know if you see more than 15 secs creators get money for those ads. If you see less or skip ads they get nothing. This guy lives in Canada many of us with chronic pain can not go to see him at the clinic, yet he is preparing me to schedule an appointment with the right dr and right chiropractic here. Also, I am learning how to use my advanced Yoga practice to help treat my bulge condition

    I am 81.5 years old male. I always walk for one hour and 15 minutes early in the morning daily. One day while I was taking steps upward suddenly right side back pain started making me instability. But I while sitting on a chair in 90 degrees position I lifted
    my right leg put on my left leg cross and pushed my right leg down with right hand down and hold for 10 counts and repeated 10 times. This has given me lot of relief and able to walk 4 kilometers daily.

  • @sall7029

    Whats your thoughts on inversion tables when dealing with disc herniations ? My first thought would it possibly make it worse if the inner disc gel is already torn ?

    • @DrWalterSalubro
      @DrWalterSalubro  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Sal. I can see the reason why someone would want to use an inversion table for disc herniations. When you are inverted, you are essentially removing the loads on the disc due to body weight and gravity, and consequently, may provide a mild distraction to the lower discs. I don't know if it will make it worse. Because it's not a localized traction to the lower lumbar spine (L4-L5, L5-S1), inversion tables is not something I recommend.

  • @pooneej
    @pooneej 4 роки тому

    If only you were local to me I'd be scheduling some visits for my herniated discs ! Anyway, I've had sciatic pain pretty severe a few weeks ago which is subsiding so I'm hoping that means I am recovering. When it was at its peak, I could trigger it by doing back extension. Flexion didnt seem to bother it at all.
    Will be trying out suggestions throughout your vides. Thank you

    Is riding a bicycle bad for disc bulging ?

    • @DrWalterSalubro
      @DrWalterSalubro  6 років тому +3

      Hey Mike. That is a good question. It may be a problem riding a bicycle when there’s an inflamed disc and acute low back pain and even leg pain. However, many people have asymptomatic disc bulges in their lower lumbar spine and are able to function normally when there is not an inflammatory process going on and no pain response. The answer is highly individualized. And one would have to test their tolerance and functional ability, which would be best done under the care and advice of a healthcare practitioner.

    Dr. Salubro,
    Thank you for your videos. I am wondering if it is safe to introduce core stability training earlier in the process, provided the specific exercises do not aggravate the pain?

    • @DrWalterSalubro
      @DrWalterSalubro  5 років тому +1

      Hi Matthew. Good question. I sometimes introduce core stability training earlier in these steps. These 6 steps are a guideline that I have followed. If the disc is not too inflamed, some low key core exercises may be introduced. I would start with superman extensions and hip extension in prone position while activating the gluteus max muscle. Then work up to prone plank and bridge if tolerable. Again, only if there is no acute disc inflammation and no pain during core exercises and always to tolerance. Always best to discuss with your primary health care provider if you are currently under care. Best, Dr. Walter

      Sagittal home traction units can only be prescribed by a qualified and trained practitioner after doing an appropriate spinal and X-ray assessment. And they are not stand-a-lone home care; they are done in conjunction with a corrective chiropractic care plan that includes spinal adjustments, postural exercises, and postural adjustment. Hi Sarah C, thanks for your comment and for watching. For weight loss, high intensity interval training (HIIT) is one of the best. However, if there is a hot acute painful disc bulge condition, it may not be tolerated. Never do anything that triggers or causes more pain. Also, a key factor to weight loss is nutrition and diet. Cleaning up diet and reducing carbs and sugars is a good start. It might be wise to get counsel for a nutritionist for that. HIIT in combination with dietary changes and a lot commitment would be good.

      Hi Rubina. I can not know how much time it will take for you to feel or get better. Every person's condition and clinical presentation is different. For some people, exercises may be sufficient to help with pain relief, but for others, they may require in-office care, like chiropractic.

    Thank you Dr. Salubro for the wealth of videos you've posted. Tonight I did the 4 exercises you suggest to mobilize lower lumbar joints. I haven't seen my primary debilitating symptom discussed anywhere yet: it's extreme groin pain which radiates down over my knees, occurring there as a burning sensation. I also experience extreme tightness in lower lumbar area. I'm in my 70's, and I've have always exercised in spite of a major blow 50 years ago when I landed on my right back below the SI joint, when I fell off a fast running horse . I've experienced moderate intermittent pain over the years, but 2 years ago, I stopped exercising entirely due to a transient living situation where I was on the road and sleeping on a hard exercise mat. A pain began to travel from the original injury site around to the front hip flexors area and then all the way around to left back area below the SI joint. My hip flexors tightened up and will not let go and the pain is awful. I now can hardly walk. Recent xrays revealed advanced osteoarthritis due to dysplasia in both hips, something I suspect I've had for awhile. An MRI revealed bulging disks at every vertebrae from T12-L1 to L4-5, along with some stenosis. L3-4 shows bilateral encroachment on L3 nerve roots. L4-5 shows grade 1 anterolisthesis, some encroachment on L4 nerve roots, severe bilateral facet hypertrophy and moderate central canal stenosis. L5-S1 shows no significant bulge and central canal is patent. I've been to physical therapy and then saw a chiropractor who focused on my SI joints, saying my right pelvis was tilted posteriorly and the left anteriorly. He did not take xrays. I didn't know I should expect him to check the overall alignment of my spine. He seemed to want to focus on getting some movement in the SI joints. He did say he noted much tension in my lower back. He used a drop table to work on me. I got no relief and after the 5th treatment I seemed worse. I quit. I would like to find another chiropractor who could talk to me about the overall picture, especially offering help to relieve the extreme groin pain. I have bought books and viewed You Tube on relieving hip flexors but they all say to do stretching, which only aggravates the groin pain. I can do bridges and I could do the 4 exercises you gave us with no problem. What's your assessment of the source of my endless groin pain? It's relieved when I sit or lie down. I don't know if you've done a video on groin pain. Any thoughts or suggestions would really be helpful. i was about to launch into some public speaking engagements and now I can't walk. Good grief. Thanks for your help. Melanie Moorehead

      Hi +Melanie Moorehead. I am sorry to hear about what you have been through and your suffering. Don't lose hope. I am glad you tried chiropractic, but when there is a chronic spinal condition like multiple disc bulges, expecting improvement or correction or full relief in 5 treatment sessions is an unrealistic expectation. These conditions may take months of care to resolve. This has been my experience. What is important is for the spinal alignment to be assess with an xray and determine exactly what needs to be corrected. You may want to consider finding a corrective care chiropractor in your city, one that is trained in Chiropractic BioPhysic (CBP), as I am. Here is the CBP Doctor Directory where you can search for a chiropractor that is trained in CBP corrective care. idealspine.com/directory. As for the groin pain, I can know what is causing this for you without first doing an exam. If you decide to pursue chiropractic care with the above directory, it can be something that you can address with the chiropractor. Keep in mind that exercises may provide temporary relief for some people, that they should never be done when they cause pain, and it is always wise to look at correcting the underlying problem. That is where corrective chiropractic care comes in. Hope this helps is any way. Best to you and for your health and speaking career.

      @@DrWalterSalubro Hi Dr. Salubro: Thank you for your generous reply. If I were in your area how often would you want to see me? Also, I noticed in my area (Colorado Springs CO) there are a couple of CBP Basic certified practitioners. Up in Denver there is a CBP Advanced practitioner. How important is it to see someone with the advanced level of training? It would mean a 140 mile round trip each time for me. Just curious to know what an advanced practitioner might be able to offer. And thank you again for your response and your support! Sincerely, Melanie Moorehead

    • @DrWalterSalubro
      @DrWalterSalubro  6 років тому +3

      Hi Melanie. I wouldn't know how often you would need to go in for treatment without first doing a full consult, exam, and case review. However, when you see the chiropractor, they would be be able to tell you in the report of findings session. As for CBP certification, a CBP Basic certified practitioner would be fully competent and has been through extensive training. The advance certified CBP practitioner has gone through training that covers more complex cases, such as whiplash injury, scoliosis, etc. You would be okay seeing the basis certified doctor closer to your home. You can always check their website and call them ahead of time to get any of your questions answered. Hope this helps and with you well in your healing journey.

      Hi Jasbir. Taking frequent breaks from sitting, so getting up every 20 to 30 minutes for a short walk, if possible, would help. Also, putting a small pillow behind the lumbar spine (low back) may help with support while sitting. Watch out for carrying, lifting, and moving heavy bags and luggages. Get help with that.

How to use your protocol without appearing in person at your clinic?

    • @DrWalterSalubro
      @DrWalterSalubro  6 років тому +1

      Hi Roberto. Thanks for your comment. Although people can do mobility / stretching / core / balance exercises at home for the lower back, it's always best to do it in a coordinated effort while under the care of a health care provider. The first part, specific spinal adjustments, can only be done in office by a professional trained in spinal adjustments, of which is chiropractic's central focus for care. Next, one will not know which posture exercises to do specifically for their body unless they come in office for an assessment first. And, as for traction, this can be done at home but a proper spinal evaluation in office visit is required to determine the eligibility for traction, traction setup, and followup thereafter. Once someone is evaluated appropriately, an individualized care plan involving the six steps can be created, but it starts with an in office exam.

    Thank you for listing and explaining the order of treatments. I couldn't see a doctor due to closed offices at the outbreak of the Corona virus. At the end of the first month during which my friend came almost every day to take care of me, I finally had an MRI. I have two herniated discs. A pain shot of ant-iinflammatories did not help. None of the prescription meds reduced my pain so 2 ibupropens every 4 hours day and night has reduced the pain by half or I couldn,t stand it. I haven't had physical therapy yet because of the pain that makes me need to lie down or sit down every few minutes. It seems I did right to wait even though my doctor prescribed it right away. Can you please refer me to a chiropractor in Abilene , Texas who does your form of treatment? I can't go back to work or even shop for groceries as it is.
