- I can't get enough of her! And now I'm finally getting around to splitting up a couple of her live recordings into separate tracks so that you can enjoy too.
Cavalleria rusticana
Live from Auckland, New Zealand
March 9, 1949
Santuzza - Germana Di Giulio
Turridu - Aldo Ferracuti
Conductor - Manno Wolf-Ferrari
.....................................
This channel is primarily about vocal emission-aural examples of basically correct singing, correct impostazione-chiaroscuro, vowel clarity, firm and centered pitch, correct vibrato action, absence of throatiness or thickness, sounds free from constriction and from the acoustic noise that accompanies it-with occasional video examples that demonstrate what the body, face, mouth, jaw, and tongue look like when used with correct impostazione-the vocal emission of the one and only Italian school.
Caveat: I'm biased in favor of baritones and baritone literature, but if you want to learn about and listen to all the greatest singers in the old-school tradition, explore this spreadsheet (voice parts are separated by tabs): bit.ly/2W4qmE3
This is singing at a completely different level 🎉 No wonder people were enthralled with this art form - how could be anything but devastated when you listen to this supreme level of commitment?
Che brava.
WOW! I'd never heard her before… speechless, amazing, thanks for sharing!
I love her, too! Her recordings are so hard to come by. First became familiar through the Rasponi book. Thank you for sharing this!
@@DramaticTenor The Last Prima Donnas by Lanfranco Rasponi. A "must read"!
Niente meno che divina
Not a single applause. What's wrong with the audience?
Di Giulio is awesome
and she never made it in big theatres.. Guess how rich opera was back then!!!
@@alvarodecampostabacaria4223 it was rich but even than it was corrupted by nepotism and politics.
@@Tkimba2 so true.
Conductor - Ermanno Wolf Ferrari
The conductor is Manno Wolf-Ferrari, nephew of the composer Ermanno.
Thanks!!
Do you know if there are more live recordings of her existing?
The rest of this Cavalleria recording can be found in part or whole here on UA-cam. There is also a live Aida with her, Mario Basiola, Rafael Lagares, and Dora Minarchi. You can find excerpts on my channel, and another channel has recently uploaded the complete recording.
@@trrill Yes, but i mean other live performances except of these two. I hope so much that there is more with Di Giulio live...
@@goldenagerecordings5295 There exists a live Pagliacci from the New Zealand tour with Basiola and Lagares, and though I can find no official mention of Di Giulio in the cast, there's a strong possibility it is she. Unfortunately it exists only on cassette in a library in New Zealand.
@@goldenagerecordings5295 I take that back. If Di Giulio were the Santuzza in Cavalleria, she would not have been Nedda in the same night.
@@trrill Thanks! That Pagliacci would be great to have... But i believe that it is more likely that Mercedes Fortunati or Rina Malatrasi sang Nedda instead of Di Giulio. I read also that many of the New Zealand performances were broadcasted through a collaboration with the government. So, there survived maybe even more!
