belts are great, but learning to brace without a belt is something people take for granted. Been training for 12 years and never realized how shit my abs and core was until I started training without a belt. Now that I've strengthened my core, the belt comes on in the absolute necessity of moments like a PR.
We disagree. If you can brace with a belt on, you can brace without one. And as you get stronger using a belt, your ability to move heavier loads without a belt also increases. The belt facilitates a stronger contraction of your trunk muscles due to the proprioceptive feedback from the belt, in addition to the support it provides by increasing intra-abdominal pressure.
@ well unfortunately I don’t have a degree in this, and it’s not my career. I have 13 years of experience and we’ll have to agree to disagree. Belts are great, I’m not trying to say they’re not. However, people need to learn to brace without one and take heavy loads without one. Nobody should take my advice. Research this stuff for yourself and use multiple sources from multiple parts of the fitness industry as a whole
Great info from a great company. Best in the business.
Appreciate it Chris!
