I did, Shannon! Thx
The ONLY reason I buy luxury handbags is for emotion reasons, and it IS in my best interest. I do a lot of things for emotional reasons, and many of them are good for me. They're not mutually exclusive. It's not binary though....the other factor is whether the "cost" of buying outweighs the joy, including the opportunity cost.
You’re right Cathy. They aren’t mutually exclusive. I must love a handbag to buy it. But for me, now, it also needs to add value to my collection and work for my lifestyle. If not, it’s just going sit on the shelf and look pretty.
Congrats on the 4k 🥳
Ty!!!!
I would be interested to see if your reaction to shopping would be different if it were a luxury boutique where things are quieter and calmer.
I’ll definitely touch on that when I share my Spain vlogs. Great thought!
Great Point! Like you Lisa, I get overwhelmed in large warehouse size department stores or high street stores because of the size and layout of the stores. Seeing never ending rows of merchandise really turns me off, I feel like I'm going grocery shopping. A small curated boutique is more my thing but I really have to watch myself to be critical of what I buy. Because I feel so comfortable in these types of shops, I have more times than not with items I don't end up wearing, especially when I'm on holiday and have romantic goggles on. It happened during a trip to Barcelona last fall, where I discovered this unique leather and denim shop and all the items were handmade in the shop and I ended up buying a bag I never used. I ended up giving it to a friend a few months later. For me, the real test is being able to walk in to these small types of independent boutiques and being able to walk out without buying anything and not feel FOMO.
@razi-kw6gb sounds like you found a gem of a store in Barcelona. I do ok in bigger stores if they’re organized. I can’t do TJMaxx or stores like those.
Hello Lisa I found your thoughts on your own slow down of purchases and links to what we might consider addictive behaviours fascinating. I’m having a SLOW BUY year and I’ve kept a list of all my personal purchases so I can track what I’m buying each month incl the little things like books and make up etc. I’m going to buy one handbag this year so I need to really hone in on what will fit into my wardrobe and lifestyle - there is soooo much to choose from. I hope you enjoy your trip to Spain and I also hope you get some of your shopping mojo back soon 🥰🥰🥰
Love the slow buy! Sounds like you’re doing great and have a plan for your purchase. And yes, deciding on one when there are so many beautiful bags is hard 💜
Hi Lisa! I loved your update. Your insights on "progress not perfection" really resonated with me. It's amazing to see how the weight loss medication has influenced your shopping habits. Keep up the great work, and enjoy your trip to Spain! Congratulations on reaching 4,000 subscribers! Can't wait for the unboxing video!
Thank you, Naomi! So glad you related to the video.
Big congratulations on 4k subs! Can’t wait to see what you’ve been keeping tucked away!
I owe it all to Amelia!
Love the idea of checking in to see if we think our purchases are in our best interests! So curious to hear how you felt shopping in Spain ❤
Video to come soon!
Hi Lisa! sending you a huge congratulations on hitting 4K!! Now we can watch your unboxing! Yay! Can’t wait! 🎉🎉
Another great vlog! It’s interesting you should bring up your experience in H & M Lisa. I was reading an article from a writer for CNN who was doing some research into the effects of GLP-1 drugs on the brain. In the article, she said that many people taking these weight loss meds have noticed a lack of interest in participating in addictive behaviors they used to enjoy such as shopping, drinking or smoking. They interviewed a woman who has been on GLP-1 meds for a while and she said that it was like someone had come along and switched the light on and she could see the room for what it was. She found herself shopping far less. A doctor who was also interviewed for the article said that Semaglutide in particular, was found to reduce rewarding effects (dopamine hit) on the brain. In other words, these meds make shopping and other addictive behaviors less rewarding and therefore, less desirable. It seems as though you are not alone in what you were experiencing that day. Anyway, I found the article really interesting so thought I would share it with you.
Btw, now that you’ve lost weight that super cute dimple in your cheek is even more pronounced! Wish I had one! ☺️
Thank you, Ruth! It’s funny, I noticed my dimple more, too, recently. My mom said it meant I was kissed by an angel.
And yes, the whole GLP-1 meds thing is fascinating. I’m reading a book right now called Magic Pill all about the pros and cons. So much research being done. It will be interesting to see what they find over the next few years. 💜
If I remember correctly, HP was paying down a big debt so her money went elsewhere which makes it easier not to spend. Like myself, she now finds other places to put it. If there’s money available to be spent and buying doesn’t affect the household budget, then it’s going to be spent. Some of us are just that way 🙋🏻♀️.
Progression not perfection - that sounds like my unsolicited advice, can’t remember 😂 but anyway it’s right - with weight loss too! We have to do what’s right for ourselves, it’s our own Personal Best. We can’t not ever buy (or eat) again but by questioning our purchases (snacks) the gaps between buying (or eating) start to lengthen, that’s what we want, goal achieved. The medication segment was so interesting, to note if it makes a difference in other areas. It’s all about that dopamine hit! Your shop preferences are mine too and I used to love browsing - not necessarily buying - yet since the pandemic forced me not to for 2 years, the desire is gone and I now work at keeping a low spend budget so it doesn’t come back.
So well said! I feel much better now with this progress not perfection mindset 💜
I completely understand the judgment we have held for ourselves. That is one of the main reasons I wanted to stop my monthly uploads. I feel guilty any time I purchase something even if it was something I needed.
The self judgment is real. Probably worse than the judgment from others 💜
Wow you look great with your new weight. I usually don't watch weight lost video on youtube, only luxury bags and etc things. But you look fantastic 🥰❤️ I started my weight lost journeys last year May, just before my mum passaway. I do it naturally. No medication, just starving and extreamly small meals first 6 months. I got a good mindset when i started weight loss journey. First month was focus and easy. Then i started loosing my mindset. But i was determined to keep going. Between June to January this year was hard. Looking back now, my weight lost journey does lead to my low mood and depression back then. I ok now. No more low mood. My brain tell me keep going. I lost around 14kg so far. I am 169cm tall and weight 60kg now. Now i just maintain it, since my tummy already small and eating less and feeling full easy. Loosing weight is hard in the begining but it paid off 🤗
Congratulations on your weight loss!💜
This is just fascinating to me Lisa! I know little to nothing about this medication but it makes sense completely! I would suspect it wasn't placebo and how cool that you have additional benefits from it. I like progress, not perfection as a goal. It's a balanced approach and you seem to be doing just great. I'm guessing we'll soon see a Spain vlog and I can't wait!
Thanks, Kim. The benefits of this medication they’re studying right now is pretty amazing. And yes, Spain vlogs to come!
You look great. I can see the weight loss in your face. Congratulations!!!
Thx Robin!
You hit 4k yay 😁
Ty!
i do noticed your face getting smaller... congrats on your wt loss journey 🎉
Ty!
I was so interested to hear the answer to the question in your thumbnail but after 5 minutes I was hit with my second commercial break and was too frustrated to continue. I hope May went well for you :]
Sorry about that. I don’t control the ads. Yes, it went well. 💜
The commercials used to drive me nuts. I upgraded to UA-cam Premium and it is sooooooo much better. I canceled it for a bit and hated the commercial version so I switched back to Premium.
I watch a lot of UA-cam so it made sense for me, but may not for you.
Hope you have a great day!!!
@robinkohl9827 I have premium, too, Robin. Like you, I watch a lot of UA-cam, it’s my main source of entertainment, so definitely worth it for me 💜
Very interesting the effect the medication has on addictive behaviors as a whole, not just food. For the longest time I've been doubtful about the reality of 'choice' or 'choosing' to do something. What does it ieven mean, that a person 'chose' it, if much of the effect is a result of presence or absence of chemicals or hormones? What are we, really, beyond our bodies? Anyway, very interesting video.
Ty. And yes, it’s very interesting.
Nice video.. I am also on a low buy this year.. the bag prices have become ridiculous
Hope your year has been going well!
What medication are you on for weight loss? Are there any side effects?
She goes into detail about the medicine she is on in her weight loss channel ❤
Thx Melissa!
As Melissa said, I have another channel where I talk exclusively about my weight loss journey. It’s linked in the description box of my videos on this channel.
I guess we can’t relate to Cassie , she is a single child from a family with a LOT of money who are retired now 🙂
I love Cassie. But yes, we come from different backgrounds. 💜
I love Cassie. That’s the beauty of UA-cam we can all find people we can relate to. That said I find I learn more from people who are unlike me .
@@cocochic1 I love her videos with her parents, I watch her every now and then, now, not asI often, as I’m not that much into luxury anymore but she can be fun to watch🙂
@cocochic1 I watch all ages and totally agree that you can learn from others who are different than you
@Ellie-es4ms I love it too when her parents are on!
