Came here after the sad passing of Adam Kondrat but got to see some old favourites from a golden age of steeple chasing including my all time fav Young Hustler. R.I.P Adam Kondrat 🇵🇱🇫🇷
Don't forget he was trained by a genius too. Francois Doumen sent over top horses like Nupsala to win a King George, Baracouda to win 3 Stayers' hurdles (now the World Hurdle), and Snow Drop to win the Triumph Hurdle. It's such a shame that nowadays the French trainers don't seem to want to send their horses to Cheltenham.
James Hopkins You have forgotten the five victories in the King George VI Chase: Nupsala (1987), The Fellow (1991, 1992), Algan (1994), First Gold (2000). It should be noted that François Doumen was also a great flat racing coach: he won the Hong Kong Cup in 1999 with the horse Jim And Tonic ....
unlike so many other sports where there is no sportsmanship, its amazing when you see The Fellow and Adam Kondrat pass the winning line all the other jockeys despite being beaten in the biggest nh race of the year dont hesitate to shake his hand and congratulate him. Only if other sports and sportsmen and women showed the same level of discourse. I hope its OK to post this on my horse racing website www.tipsterchallenge.com
I agree with you ..... The Fellows would certainly have won 3 or 4 Gold Cups if it had always been conducted this way the previous three years! Unfortunately only one victory, two second places and a fourth place. Despite everything The Fellow was a great horse who won the best races on both sides of the Channel ...

my all time favourite chaser. Backed him every time he ran in England and had 2 singles and a double that day with Mysilv in the Triumph. Happy days.
masterclass by Adam Kondrat, finally silenced the doubters
JMcC said some terrible things about him.
TBF, he gave The Fellow a terrible ride the previous year.
The Fellow was a dual King George VI Chase winner before landing this big one. Jodami so close to making it back to back wins.
RIP Adam Kondrat
A charming fellow he deserved to win very consistent

@@litogor To be fair he did say "like".
They only send them over now for the cross country races at Cheltenham.
The last Cheltenham Gold Cup to be televised by the BBC.
Finally for France and The Fellow.

My thoughts exactly
In this race The Fellow was never off the pace, as he was in the previous year, being ridden differently made the all the difference.
BOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I really thought Jodami was coming to take it again coming to the last.
As they come to the next........no fence for about 200 yards. Peter must've been drinking during a lot of races.
the was the last time was saw the BBC at the Cheltenham festival
I just wish some in France show us his welcoming home and what did they think of his victory and why did they challenge best of then British & Irish
