I love these long versions of the videos without the music on youtube. Sounds weird but they’ve been helping me fall asleep lately, during one of the hardest times in my life, as they’re comforting to me. Thank you for the uploads 😊
When you talked about a skull fragment I was already yelling at the screen "HARD HATS LADS!". Seriously, better safe than sorry especially when there's been a cliff collapse.
@@Carefullyprepared Of course, and there are unsurvivable accidents but smaller falls and ricocheting fragments can be protected against. I speak as someone who was saved by quite rudimentary head protection over 45 years ago. It was caved in but my head wasn't. I got away with a bruise but no fractured skull.
I do love that paddle. It's breathtaking whenever you show it. The crushed digit was interesting, too, but I have to say that my wrist throbbed when you suggested that it might have been a pathological crushing. The way the digits are packed in the paddle you showed, there couldn't have been much more blood supply than we get to our luna carpals, could there?
We wet thinking pathological crushing as in crushing after the paddle had already separated, but hard to ever know for certain! I'm not sure if the blood supply to these paddles is well known, an interesting thought
That was really nice to leave the ammonite for someone to find. I used to find petrified wood at the cliffs next to the beach when i was a kid and it made me so happy to have something i was so interested reading about in my hands.
I love your videos. I cringe when you hold a nodule in your bare hand while you hit it, though. I would wear a gloves. You have good taste in hammers. Estwing hammers are the best. I have been using them since I was a kid and I am almost 70 years old. Here in East Tennessee, where the rocks are about 500 million years old, nodules exist but instead of ammonites, we find marine snails, clams, and cephalopods, both straight and coiled, and lots of brachiopods.
I don't think it's a fossil it's a type of animal which do such structure circular type inside and than it may die but after that certain amount of energy processing inside of that stone , all things in this universe has certain amount of energy but this stone may has greatest energy it may bring positive if you know how to handle it or it may disaster for your whole life be careful playing with it,

Thank you, that's very true and we need to bear that in mind in future
Hard hat won't do much for flying boulder

Great to see the fully prepped paddle, but it would be interesting to see the specimen in the raw state, as found
We made a full preparation video about it, which is available to watch on our channel :)
A treasure trove of finds, nice trekking for fossils 👍😎😎
I enjoy your videos. I am intrigued how well your eyes are trained in spotting the tell tale signs of a potential fossil.
Another great vid. Keep up the good work
Dr. S. positively delightful that you upload old man ( said in my best fake British accent) seriously very cool upload as always. Hey to Shae eh!
Hahah much appreciated as always! Top notch comments
I'm watching this while we drive home. So excited to see this. 🤔So many great finds and the paddle was stunning. 👍👍

1:15 looks like a pyritised ammonite nodule (in between the three shale slabs)
When you picked up that first piece under the other rock I saw a nodule right above it and was like NOOOO GO GET THAT. NOT THE OTHER ROCKKKK 😂
Loved watching (visual)..BUT...need to work on the audio ..also a wind block. Thanks for posting.
Great as always!!! Question if Don’t mind. What weight hammers do you normally use? 🤔
Kind regards
Great video - hope that ammonite nodule turns out to be a double - that would be insane!
Thank you - let's hope!! Not prepped just yet
Been following sinds yesterday. This is awsome. Would love to find some myself. But would not know how to spot them.
I am just curious, but how do you identify the ammonites? A couple of different species look exactly the same to me.
I’m curious about what causes the metallic sheen on the paddle digits. Any particular reason why?
Is this a public beach and where is it like what country is it in
3:33 what's that obsidian looking stone on the bottom right??? It looks awesome!
When was this recorded? Snow? In July in Europe?
We recorded this a while ago and only just got round to editing the footage
Where abouts was this video taken
where is it
I wonder what the yellow is in the rock?
there was a golden cannonball concretion RIGHT AT THE START OF THE VIDEO!! suprised you didn't see it!!
Time stamp?
@@sandramays795 literally the very start of the video, you can see it clearly coz its wet, just above where he reaches down for the other specimen
@@sandramays795 at 1:15 its about center of the screen
Seems we missed a potentially great fossil! Damn
@@YorkshireFossils yeah. great video as always guys!!
Idk why but I really have a thing for ginger guys. 😍

Do you ever look for trace fossils? Find any?
We find many worm burrows but don't often specifically look for them
Sadly you didn't say 'finer tools' or 'for others to see as they come along'.
Hahaha thanks Theo
Too bad your area don't have amber fossils like in Myanmar.
thats no ammonite thats an trilobite
No it’s a ammonites
You are sooo cute!
I mean if fossils are literally everywhere, not that valuable.
No there pretty rare it’s a 50 percent chance of finding a fossil
