As a shao main...raiden is usually a winning matchup UNLESS the raiden player lames out like kanimani did. And kani does play VGY all the time so he knows this. Absolutely incredible event! The NA players surprised the hell outta me (especially Six). I was expecting another 5-3 or 6-2 for EU. One thing I would like to see though would be a tie breaker that involves the team rather than just boiling down to who has the best player. Maybe take the players who went 2-0 in their sets and have them play an elimination style tourney. Or do one final 8v8 where players get just 1 or 2 lives and first to eliminate the others wins. Anyway I definitely hope to see a season 2!

Given that Raiden is low-tier, isn't even Kanimani's main, & Dyloch was NA's choice for their champion, I didn't have a problem with the match-up at all. I was surprised NA didn't pick Hourglass, who, IMO, is a better player than Dyloch, shown by Hourglass winning against Sonicfox pretty regularly. A pro-player like Dyloch not having at least one pocket character was very surprising to me. Kani spends hours learning different characters & this ultimately helped him to stomp face at the end, as well as just being an overall better player than Dyloch (again, IMO).
Team battle. Why not just make the tie breaker a 3rd tournament? I know it’s a lot of work but that’s a lot of money and for 1 day EU to go 6-2, the next NA 6-2. I mean that’s evenly matched. Just underwhelming having the tie breaker be between two players when this was a team battle.
Yea I feel like it would have been more justified to have the players that lost to be eliminated and the winning players face the other side of the winning players till one side is fully eliminated

That last game is a grade A performance on how to abuse one button on a single character and why shao could not be top tier no matter who is playing him. MK1 feels like a poke-fest in some matches. Those matches are boring to watch and infuriating to play. Rano can go to hell

This was an incredible colab from start to finish. I watched every match from the qualifiers (except the ones with Tanya ofc). It was a shame about the bad-feeling at the end, but Kanimani showed it didn't matter by CRUSHING Dyloch then bagging him 😂😂😂. Thanks R1ps, Destroyer, & all of the amazing players. Also, I agree with some of the comments that the tie-breaker (if one is needed) should be 2v2. EU would still stomp face but would maybe be a little more representative of the skills of the two teams.

Raiden Shao is such a sucky matchup. Only way to counter it is back3 cause it's hitbox kinda goes over that poke and hella range, b1 doesn't have as much range. Even then you gotta guess when they're gonna down4, backdash, and one hit hit confirm it when you see the whiff. He can actually gimmick some trade combos when raidens do fly into knives using forward2 though which is nice

It would be dope if these 8v8 were ran like how smash does it… Player 1 vs player 2 first to 3 .. Player 1 wins 3 - 2 and stays on the controller.. Player 1 vs player 3 but player 1 is down two ..games meaning that player 3 only has to win one set to take player 1 out..Repeat until the end of the tournament..Probably has been ran like this before and it’ll be more work for the TOs but that’d be dope
