I just bought a whole bunch of fresh collards mustard, peppers, fruits and as I go to make a fresh salad for my beard I noticed she’s asleep and the next day she’s asleep and the next day so it’s been a week. She’s been asleep in the same position once in a while, but I guess I’ll have to eat all her food now.
I had no idea they did this, I figured ones in the wild had different behaviors than ones as pets. Sleep well Chuck, Bessie and Gerald, I will miss seeing y’all, Love & Blessings🥰❣️🥰❣️
I have no beardie, so I am not really your target audience; but I love the educational material, too. You are passionate about beardies and you have so much information. I will come and watch the videos if you make them. I will miss Chuck when he brumates, but there are more past videos to watch. Thanks for your attention to details and for sharing your beardies with us. Chuck makes my day.
Thanks so much! My guy went out last year from November until March. He came out every now and then to poke his head out, and I took the opportunity to weigh him then but he’s already showing signs of lethargy.
I am so glad to hear you're gonna do this. I have been thinking about doing something either on here or start a facebook group. Their just aren't enough passionate people about these animals anymore. And we need this to inform other people about how to properly care for them. There is a lot of misinformation that leads to horrible living conditions for these amazing creatures. I always preach to research and do your own homework.
I sort of expected to see this. There's information out there. I can find it without looking hard. I remember making much the same comment about cats a few years ago. Cats and dogs are so common and the world is just STUFFED with accessible information about how to take care of them, and you still find them living in such terrible conditions it makes me want to scream.
Thank you for this video. It has helped me realize that my 4yo beardie Squee might have needed to brumate but I wasn’t ready to let him because I was afraid. Your video gives me hope that this can be done safely. But I have a lot of questions!
Khel did all the signs last year but never actually started to brumate. Scared me cause he was not 1 yet. He did the whole slow down thing again this fall, but he seems to have really perked back up this past 2 weeks, so 🤷. I do have to change his uvb bulb. I noticed today it has really started to dim (it's about 6 mo old so it should be OK still) and realized hubby has my backup on Nemmy's tank so now I gotta wait till Tuesday for Amazon to deliver. Nemmy has been more sleepy, but she's always been more sedate than he is. He's my little stompy monster. Lol.
Ohhh gracias por esa explicacion, por tomarte el tiempo! Pero como sea vamos a extrañar a chuck. Bessie y Gerald tambien duermen en el mismo tiempo o se varia cada uno?
When do you stop offering food, giving baths? My beardie has never been a big eater. He brumated last year for about 3 months, and he just started acting like he’s about to start again. He just didn’t eat a whole lot during the summer. He always ate a little something, had bowel movements, ran around (a little) basked. So I just didn’t worry.
This was so helpful! Please do more! I just got a baby beardie since my ex took our other 2 😣 and haven't figured out the sex yet but the name Charlie seems rather fitting. The other day i got a head bob and was like "are you hungry?" Head bob.. and food it was what Charlie wanted! . Since you're a beardie guru, any suggestions how I can get Charlie to eat greens? I tried the whole "here have this wax worm as a treat and don't notice the lettuce" and Charlie took the lettuce and then shook h/s head and rubbed h/s nose against a rock like "eeeewww human WHAT WAS THAT!!" Currently, h/s won't go near any fruits and a whole bunch of veggies. Any suggestions? Or is bee pollen the best bet?
🤣💕💕 I created a free beardie guide! You can download it here Www.bougiebeardies.com Bee pollen from www.reptiliankingdom.com change the greens game for our beardies. They love it. It's like their seasoning. If you use chuck10 you will get 10% off. I hope you are Charlie grow the strongest bond💕 Ps. We no longer feed fruits due to new information our from the beardie vet.
So my beardie is a re-adopt kinda and I don’t think she brumates. She has been getting faster and digging which she did last time before she laid eggs, so I’m not sure if she’ll brumate Chuck looks so chill
You hear "DO NOT LET THEM BRUMATE" if too young a lot, but little about what to do about it. You can wake them up over and over, but how do you get them to eat?
@@bougie_beardies Nope. UV 6.5 meter check, good temps, warm and cool air correct day and night, temp gun basking surface ideal. Toxin-free environment, good space. 11 month female beardie.
Uh... HeLp? Tex is under one and brumated... Idk he woke up today and was really energetic and has been looking out my window currently. He appears find? I think it was a month before today he was brumating... What do I do?
This is great information, because people get them without researching and really studying that you don’t just throw up a crate and put it in there and that’s it. This is such great information and a learning opportunity. I love to have one but I think I’ll enjoy Chuck, Bessie and Gerald. I’ve got my Chuck shirt in my cart, hopefully soon it’ll be mine. ✝️🕊️☮️🩷🥰💙❣️❣️❣️❣️
My Winston, at 10 y.o., went to sleep last winter and just failed to wake up in Spring. That's the most peaceful way to go.
😢
I loved his little head bops while you were talking.

Oh my goodness! Thank you SO much. I asked if you could do a video on this (I am sure others as well). ❤

Also i just noticed chuck headbobbing in the back lmaoo
I've been waiting for someone to notice 🤣

The misinformation is wild, and so sad 😢

I thought my beardie was sick because he quit pooping and is sleeping all the time but now I understand

Is it best to post my questions here? Or is there a better forum for this? I also have questions about getting started with a bioacrive substrate.
This is a great intro to brumation and really helpful, as Roxy is our first beardie. We'd love to see more educational videos.
Loved this
Pay attention to the base of the tail that is were they store the fat they use during this time..

Can you do a short of how to work the cage lights, I have the same kind of switch thingy and can't figure it out lol

Is it normal for a beardie to brumate in captivity when lighting, food, and humidity conditions are maintained throughout the year?
It seems to be about half and half
@@bougie_beardiesperfect thanks so much

Is repti-calcium still good from 2016?
