Now that Raptors have every position covered for starters and bench squad, the focus can be on which position to upgrade via trade. If that doesn't happen then the objective is to get a lottery pick.

AD's best role is as a center especially in the playoffs but yes it is about protecting him going into the post season. That said they are interested in JV and he is much cheaper as an option.
The dame thing was more complex because he was going through a divorce and figuring out child custody which is more difficult across an international border vs state lines.
They don't need to take all the way down to get into the top 4. They just need to be bad enough to have decent enough odds to get into the top 4. Big difference. So the raptors need not establish a losing culture. It could be as simple as not rushing guys back from being injured.

No there is more required than a star. We also need a strong bench mob again to be able to trade from as well as strengthen the team. Similar to before the championship. That made it all possible. I am sure Detroit will improve as will raptors. The window is 5 to 6 years and getting a star is great but not practical.
