It would've been too easy and a little bit overdone for him to just tell her or for her to like sneak and see Barry using his powers without him knowing but the fact that she was smart enough to feel that lightning spark she had with both Barry and Flash and put 2 and 2 together says a lot about her character. Say what you want about Iris but the girl isn't stupid.

This scene was so good, you can literally feel the chemistry between Grant Gustin and Candice Patton, that's what made me ship Westallen. When he confess I was practically screaming, i know it's just a tv show, but i wait so much for Barry to tell Iris that he loves her, it was beautiful

A lot of it was just the timing of it all really. At the end of the day the feelings weren't reciprocated until they just were. Sometimes that's how it is in life. You wake up in bed one day and think to yourself "huh...I think I caught the feelings" she obviously still had those same feelings for him she just needed some time and space to see it and feel it.

perfect scene, so much emotion with the both of them, they delivered it perfectly, I was waiting for a kiss, but I think it's better when they don't especially when she's with someone, I think that's why I like them so much, they care and respect each other. If Iris was in love with Barry and he was with someone else she would let them be happy too. Barry is a good guy, he respects Iris and Eddie, even if it really hurts him to watch them together all the time, even when Eddie interrupts their moments, Barry still smiles and just suffers inside, just to make her happy. It breaks my heart tho. He deserves to be happy. Iris looked very sad in this episode tho, she does love him too, her life is about to change and be complicated.

I was on tumblr and twitter that night Iris & Barry finally kissed and you are right the fandom exploded. I haven't seen it explode like that since then. I think episode 2x13 when they went to Earth 2 and we found out Westallen was married comes in 2nd. But nothing tops that 1st kiss lol.
A beautiful scene executed by wonderful actors, the actress who played Iris did a fantastic job of portraying so much emotion whilst not saying a word at all.... I can relate to Barry so much in this scene, I had a situation very much like Mr. Allen here, a girl I was in love with from when we first met as children. When we were teenagers I confessed, and ever since that day nothing has been the same with me and her it's as if I would have been better off not telling her that way we'd still be able to be the friends we were before, I still see her from time to time but it's simply not the same anymore. So when he says, "I was afraid that if you didn't feel the same way, I would lose you too", good lord does it bring on the water works, because people who've never experienced unrequited love don't know how true that statement is.

I was just thrilled that Barry finally told her how he felt. Iris may be in a relationship with Eddie, but it's a "safe relationship." Deep down she loves Barry too, but she doesn't want to possibly ruin the friendship/relationship they already have. These are two people who have been in one another's orbit since they were kids. The fear of jeopardizing that friendship is outweighing her love for Barry.
If you watch Barry and Iris reunion scene at the café episode 1; when she says she watched him die; it actually answers the question in my opinion why she is with Eddie; umm its call rebound lol...watching Barry die had Iris not only realize that she was also in love him but also had her thinking she had lost him forever. The 9 months Barry was in a coma Eddie was there which made it easy for to suppress whatever feelings she might have had for Barry. The writers have already implied that Eddie being with Iris is not a coincidence as well i.e. episode 1 when Iris' laptop bag was stolen during Wells' presentation at Star labs ; Barry went after the robber but it was Eddie that caught him; notice there was no explanation given why "Eddie just happen to be in the neighbourhood near Star labs?"...plus we already know that Wells targeted Barry before they even met; so why not target what he also deemed as Barry's #1 Distraction ---Iris...cue Eddie to play his role(distracting both during the coma and after Barry wakes up)... "Love ones" being a distraction / weakness for Barry was address by Wells in episode 7
This is just too beautiful! IT WAS SO PERFECT!. Everything Barry said, such a beautiful declaration of his love. I cried. And the way Iris was speechless. Just the tear that rolled down her cheek. It was exactly when he said he was so afraid of losing her that he did. That killed me. It was amazing!

The doctor like so many of our heroes is a idea of what we think a good man or woman should be. This Doctor battles the universes most deadliest aliens and he does this not to get paid or recognition he does this because he thinks it the right thing to do. He wants the universe to be a safe place for all. He never uses guns or weapons. The way he defeats his enemies is by using his intellect. So when people say that Iris should be a red head of white. Really does it matter? When you first read the comic. You saw she was a red head was that her character? her essence? a hair color and a person skin has nothing to do with their character. Their actions do as for Iris West on the tv show. I really don't see a difference from her comic book character in terms of her personality and her essence. Both Iris love Barry Allan they stand behind him and encourage him. They both are upbeat and outgoing and if you feel that she is under developed well that not the actress fault. That blame belongs to the writers and directors of the show. She only doing what they tell her to do. There used to be a show called Gilligan's Island and the creator Sherman Swartz wanted to make a updated film version of the TV series and he said that he wanted Beyoncé to play Ginger. Now if you ever seen Gilligan's Island you know Ginger was a white woman with red hair (Ginger) a movie star that was very sexy and voluptuous. Mr. Swartz who was close to 90 at the time. I believe he pass away. Mr. Swartz could look pass Beyoncé's skin color. Why because he knew that Ginger was much more than a skin color she was a sex symbol on the show and Beyoncé to him had that same essence of the character he created. My point is Barry and Iris are fictional characters. They only exist when a person writes a comic or when they grace our TV screens every week. But other than that they don't have a voice. They say what the writer want them to say. They look like what the writer wants them to look like.They feel what ever the writer want them to feel. Which means they are open to interpretation. Their hair and skin color are not set in stone. If they was doing a film biography on George Washington they couldn't get Wesley Snipes to play him why? because George Washington was white historically we know this for a fact or you couldn't get George Clooney to play Barack Obama. I cried the first time I watched this and basically I'll probably always tear up. Barry's speech/confession was just so beautiful and Grant is an amazing actor and the way he delivers his lines is so powerful
They're already married and have had really cute and adorable couple-scenes, but I think this one is the most emotional scene they've ever had. Second place goes to the moment Iris tells him about her feelings in season 2. And my place 3 is for the moment he shows her his Christmas gift, the new apartment. Last but not least, when he proposed. I like how he sang and proposed, but I still think that the first time he did was the better proposal: with all the candles (maybe too many, but it's ok) and the story about his great grand-father, and the music from Blake Neely... I just LOVED that scene!

I have had a crush on her for years also, but I could never find the courage to tell her because I did not want to lose her. We are both in 12th grade now and we go to the same school. +Christina Meadows I still think they have chemistry it's just changed a little. Barry seems to be more mature when dealing with his feelings for Iris cause he learned his lesson from the first season, he's no longer 'no chill' or petty Barry.
And that is because Iris wasn't sidelined like she was in season 2 until Patty left mid season. Trying to make Patty the new Felicity didn't work well for the first part of season 2 and it made it seem that when Iris started to have feelings for Barry late in the second half, it was forced. They needed to show that her feelings for him was gradually changing and it should have started the first episode of season 2. I love westallen and I hope that the writers and show have learned their lesson and don't prolong their relationship too long in season 3.

People say this is gross and weird because they grew up together like brother and sister, but they never really saw each other as brother and sister, even though Barry called Joe his dad, he doesn’t see Iris as his sister and vice versa. They’re best friends as close as siblings but with romantic feelings buried deep inside, at least for Iris. Barry loved her before he went to live with her, and those feelings never went away, they literally only got stronger as time passed and they grew closer. They’re not siblings, at least not by blood, so it’s not weird
This scene was beautiful I've lost count on how many times I watched this I also loved how Iris doesn't say a word and how Barry said he knows he is to late for her. This shows Barry ha a good heart and will still love Iris even when she is dating someone else.
One of the best scenes of Season 1. Kudos to the writers and to Grant and Candice who played it very well. We can see how difficult it was for Barry to confess his feelings, as he knew this would change their friendship forever. But he just couldn't lie to Iris anymore. And Iris didn't even have to say a word. It was written all over her face. After the initial shock, she was a little mad to have been lied to for years but also sad to be the reason of her best friend's heartbreak. It was for the best though. Barry had always had a special place in her heart anyways. She just never bothered to label it as anything other than platonic, I guess.

A beautiful scene executed by wonderful actors, the actress who played Iris did a fantastic job of portraying so much emotion whilst not saying a word at all....
I can relate to Barry so much in this scene, I had a situation very much like Mr. Allen here, a girl I was in love with from when we first met as children. When we were teenagers I confessed, and ever since that day nothing has been the same with me and her it's as if I would have been better off not telling her that way we'd still be able to be the friends we were before, I still see her from time to time but it's simply not the same anymore. So when he says, "I was afraid that if you didn't feel the same way, I would lose you too", good lord does it bring on the water works, because people who've never experienced unrequited love don't know how true that statement is.

I was just thrilled that Barry finally told her how he felt. Iris may be in a relationship with Eddie, but it's a "safe relationship." Deep down she loves Barry too, but she doesn't want to possibly ruin the friendship/relationship they already have. These are two people who have been in one another's orbit since they were kids. The fear of jeopardizing that friendship is outweighing her love for Barry.

If you watch Barry and Iris reunion scene at the café episode 1; when she says she watched him die; it actually answers the question in my opinion why she is with Eddie; umm its call rebound lol...watching Barry die had Iris not only realize that she was also in love him but also had her thinking she had lost him forever. The 9 months Barry was in a coma Eddie was there which made it easy for to suppress whatever feelings she might have had for Barry. The writers have already implied that Eddie being with Iris is not a coincidence as well i.e. episode 1 when Iris' laptop bag was stolen during Wells' presentation at Star labs ; Barry went after the robber but it was Eddie that caught him; notice there was no explanation given why "Eddie just happen to be in the neighbourhood near Star labs?"...plus we already know that Wells targeted Barry before they even met; so why not target what he also deemed as Barry's #1 Distraction ---Iris...cue Eddie to play his role(distracting both during the coma and after Barry wakes up)...
"Love ones" being a distraction / weakness for Barry was address by Wells in episode 7
This is just too beautiful! IT WAS SO PERFECT!. Everything Barry said, such a beautiful declaration of his love. I cried. And the way Iris was speechless. Just the tear that rolled down her cheek. It was exactly when he said he was so afraid of losing her that he did. That killed me. It was amazing!

People comments on this video is how they are upset that Iris is Black in the tv series. I for one am not if you read my comments down blow. I am a Doctor who Fan and being a Doctor who fan. We are use to The Doctor changing faces every so often we have to adapt to change when it comes to our favorite Time Lord.
They are talking about making the Doctor a woman for the first time in his 50 year history and some fans are not happy about it. The Doctor has been a white male for over 50 years. I would love it if they made him a woman. Why because the Doctor is much more than a person gender or a skin color. The doctor like so many of our heroes is a idea of what we think a good man or woman should be.
This Doctor battles the universes most deadliest aliens and he does this not to get paid or recognition he does this because he thinks it the right thing to do. He wants the universe to be a safe place for all. He never uses guns or weapons. The way he defeats his enemies is by using his intellect.
So when people say that Iris should be a red head of white. Really does it matter? When you first read the comic. You saw she was a red head was that her character? her essence? a hair color and a person skin has nothing to do with their character. Their actions do as for Iris West on the tv show. I really don't see a difference from her comic book character in terms of her personality and her essence. Both Iris love Barry Allan they stand behind him and encourage him. They both are upbeat and outgoing and if you feel that she is under developed well that not the actress fault. That blame belongs to the writers and directors of the show. She only doing what they tell her to do.
There used to be a show called Gilligan's Island and the creator Sherman Swartz wanted to make a updated film version of the TV series and he said that he wanted Beyoncé to play Ginger. Now if you ever seen Gilligan's Island you know Ginger was a white woman with red hair (Ginger) a movie star that was very sexy and voluptuous.
Mr. Swartz who was close to 90 at the time. I believe he pass away. Mr. Swartz could look pass Beyoncé's skin color. Why because he knew that Ginger was much more than a skin color she was a sex symbol on the show and Beyoncé to him had that same essence of the character he created.
My point is Barry and Iris are fictional characters. They only exist when a person writes a comic or when they grace our TV screens every week. But other than that they don't have a voice. They say what the writer want them to say. They look like what the writer wants them to look like.They feel what ever the writer want them to feel. Which means they are open to interpretation. Their hair and skin color are not set in stone.
If they was doing a film biography on George Washington they couldn't get Wesley Snipes to play him why? because George Washington was white historically we know this for a fact or you couldn't get George Clooney to play Barack Obama. Because we know for a fact that he is black or mixed race.
So there really is no reason why Iris couldn't be Black she doesn't exist she is a fictional character that is open to interpretation.

I cried the first time I watched this and basically I'll probably always tear up. Barry's speech/confession was just so beautiful and Grant is an amazing actor and the way he delivers his lines is so powerful

They're already married and have had really cute and adorable couple-scenes, but I think this one is the most emotional scene they've ever had. Second place goes to the moment Iris tells him about her feelings in season 2. And my place 3 is for the moment he shows her his Christmas gift, the new apartment. Last but not least, when he proposed. I like how he sang and proposed, but I still think that the first time he did was the better proposal: with all the candles (maybe too many, but it's ok) and the story about his great grand-father, and the music from Blake Neely... I just LOVED that scene!

And that is because Iris wasn't sidelined like she was in season 2 until Patty left mid season. Trying to make Patty the new Felicity didn't work well for the first part of season 2 and it made it seem that when Iris started to have feelings for Barry late in the second half, it was forced. They needed to show that her feelings for him was gradually changing and it should have started the first episode of season 2. I love westallen and I hope that the writers and show have learned their lesson and don't prolong their relationship too long in season 3.

Are season 2 and 3 any good? I've only seen the first one.
People say this is gross and weird because they grew up together like brother and sister, but they never really saw each other as brother and sister, even though Barry called Joe his dad, he doesn’t see Iris as his sister and vice versa. They’re best friends as close as siblings but with romantic feelings buried deep inside, at least for Iris. Barry loved her before he went to live with her, and those feelings never went away, they literally only got stronger as time passed and they grew closer. They’re not siblings, at least not by blood, so it’s not weird
This scene remains one of the most poignant and heart wrenching scenes on this show. The Writers and Actors did a wonderful job with it! Thank You!

One of the best scenes of Season 1. Kudos to the writers and to Grant and Candice who played it very well.
We can see how difficult it was for Barry to confess his feelings, as he knew this would change their friendship forever. But he just couldn't lie to Iris anymore.
And Iris didn't even have to say a word. It was written all over her face. After the initial shock, she was a little mad to have been lied to for years but also sad to be the reason of her best friend's heartbreak.
It was for the best though. Barry had always had a special place in her heart anyways. She just never bothered to label it as anything other than platonic, I guess.
